Before leaving the beach and get my laundry and go for massage, I saw this Beetle along the way. Those are worth a lot in Sweden and I’m really keen on hunting these down and to fill a container with. Thing is, containers are insanely expensive since Covid.

Today my daydreams brought me back to the #BurningCoalVein. A few hours after taking this photo I saw movement in the area I labeled '#deer' and took out my binculars to see what was going on. It was dusk, so the sun was fading and it took me a minute to get things focused in, but when I did, I saw a deer. At first I thought it was a group of deer, but soon noticed that there were two #coyotes chasing him. I felt honored to be witnessing something you normally only see on a #documentary. This is an ocean dwelling ribbon worm from the genus Gorgonorhynchus. What you can see being discharged is a sticky proboscis, this densely branching structure is a feeding appendage used in hunting.

While hiking at #DesotoBendNationalWildlifeRefuge in #WilsonIslandStatePark, I shot this video of the #sunset. It didn't turm out as colorful as I'd like, but it was worth watching. This area is on the Western border of Iowa right along the #MissouriRiver, which you see in the gif. We see these #WildTurkeys around quite often, but they're usually up closer to the #MissouriRiver Bluffs. We are down in the old #RiverBottom a few blocks away. Either way, we always enjoy visitors, especially when they are as well mannered as these #turkeys. They weren't bothered by me at all and were within 5 feet of me holding a camera. The camera alone would spook most animals. This was great little free camping spot [AlphaHippie] found last Spring when we went out on a multi-state roadtrip to go #Morel hunting. It ended up being too early, even though we went South to find them. We didn't care if we found any or not, because it was just about getting out of the city after a pretty cold winter. This is within the #FieryForksConservationArea in #Missouri along the #NianguaRiver. There is a camping area with some back-in and pull through spots, but since the place was mostly empty we pulled up here along the river portage area for kayakers. With the lack of green, you can tell it was early Spring. I can't wait until #MorelHunting season is on the horizon again.
