• If you don't recognize this #flower, I'm sure you've heard of it. The #PurpleConeflower or #EchinaceaPurpureaMoench is a popular plant for its immune boosting, anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties. All parts of this plants are edible, but only the flower petals are palatable though, a bit bitter. It's also loaded with antioxidants and although it's been used since the dawn of time to treat many common ailments, there's very little scientific literature to back it up.

It's definitely one plant you'll want to add to your memory banks, because it treats very common injuries and infections we all get. This includes everything from minor cuts to bug bites, to urinary tract infections to the common cold. On top of that some believe it also has a calming effect, which helps with depression.

  • #Alfalfa is mostly known as feed for livestock, which is why I wasn't surprised to find it growing wild at #WarsingDam in #NorthDakota. It's also super nutritious for us as well and is considered a #SuperFood, because of the high levels of essential nutrients and fiber it provides and it's loaded with powerful #antioxidants.

Because it's so popular as cow or horse feed, many would never guess it blesses us with these beautiful blooms. Every part of the plant above the ground can be eaten or steeped into a tea and the seeds can be ground and mixed in with flour to heighten the nutritional profile.

  • Today, the #UniversityofSurrey hosted a lecture by Sina Sadrzadeh, the Head of Growth of myNFT Marketplace, regarding the launch of the first NFT Vending Machine in Europe. The launch took place at the #NFT.London event in November 2022, showcasing the brand's commitment to making #NFTs #accessible to #everyone, regardless of their knowledge of cryptocurrency or ownership of a crypto wallet.
The NFT Vending Machine was simple to use, with envelopes containing random NFTs from the inaugural myNFT collection on display. By paying a flat rate of £10, users were able to scan a QR code provided by the envelope and set up a free myNFT account and NFT wallet. The NFTs issued were worth up to £200.
MyNFT's platform is built to support both fiat and cryptocurrencies, and its proprietary GBM auction system offers a seamless experience through the bit-to-earn feature. The launch of the NFT Vending Machine is a significant step towards making NFTs accessible to a wider audience, and we can expect to see more exciting developments from myNFT in the future.
In conclusion, the launch of the first NFT Vending Machine in Europe by myNFT Marketplace is a significant event for the NFT industry. The platform's ease of use, support for fiat and cryptocurrency, and innovative auction system make it a great option for those looking to explore the world of NFTs.

What do you think about this strategy?

    Happy #Tuesday everyone!

  • Today, my husband and I had a great experience visiting the #UniversityofSurrey for the first time, and an interesting meeting too. It's wonderful to hear that the University is excelling in their efforts to #promote and #improve #knowledge in the exciting fields of #blockchain and #metaverse technology. The fact that they have founded an #academy for students with particular interest in these areas is a testament to their commitment to staying at the forefront of these developments.
At the end of the visit, despite the cold, we enjoyed a little stroll around the campus area, and took some pictures of the main entrance panoramic view, to commemorate the visit.

  • The #WoodRose or #Rosawoodsii is not only beautiful, but can be a friend if you know it's uses. I came across this beauty in @NorthDakota, so it has a wide range for cultivation and can be found most anywhere in #NorthernAmerica. The young leaf shoots and flower petals can be eaten raw or steeped into a tea. All parts of this plant has a use medicinally and as an edible as well.

The leaves can also be chewed into a poultice to relieve muscle aches, as well as for minor cuts, bites and even as an antifungal. The roots and inner bark have been used to treat the flu and diarrhea. The fruit is used to ease your cough, it has an unusually high levels of fatty acids and has possible promise as an antitumoral. The list goes on and I hope to have wet your whistle, so you start to check out the local plants in your area. You'll be amazed at the free medicine available to you for free.

It is #NaturalMedicines like these that we need to know about, so we don't allow the #PharmaceuticalCompanies takes the properties of these natural miracles and patent them, forcing us to pay an arm and a leg to get these compounds through them. It's also why we cannot let our #government give them too much power by banning many of these substances their natural forms, taking away more of our independence.

  • This is the #SwampRoseMallow or #HibiscusMoscheutos. I was lucky to happen across this beauty, because it was growing along a lake shore I have been walking for nearly 10 years and had never seen it there before. This particular year the water levels were quite a bit higher than normal, allowing for the conditions she needed to grow. This was my first time coming across this family of flower in the wild before and was quite excited when I saw it. I now wish I had the foresight to take more photos of it though.

All parts of this plants are edible with a mild flavor and each has it's own medicinal uses as well. The flower itself, which spans a good 6-8 inches in diameter can be used topically for its anti-inflammatory and antihistamine properties. The leaves when budding or young can be eating either raw, cooked or even steeped into a #tea. This is used to sooth your cough and sore throats and some digestive issues as well.

The stems can be made into a tea as well and has been used traditionally to treat #UrinaryTractInfections. The seeds are edible as well and after maturing and turning dark brown they can be used to make a tea or roasted to be used as a naturally decaffeinated coffee substitute.

  • With the nights drawing in winter is arriving.
So why not make some sauerkraut it's amazing for your gut.

Sauerkraut, or fermented cabbage, is loaded with vitamins C and K, iron, and fiber, and naturally contains healthy gut bacteria called probiotics by eating foods like sauerkraut, we enhance the health of our digestive system by optimizing our gut flora and balancing our gut microbiome.

    Here the recipe:

    Ingredients

    2kg very firm cabbage
3 tbsp coarse crystal sea salt
    1 tsp peppercorns

    STEP 1
Thoroughly wash a large tub or bowl (we used on the size of a small washing-up bowl), then rinse with boiling water from the kettle. Make sure that your hands, and everything else coming into contact with the cabbage, are very clean. It’s wise to use a container that will comfortably fit the softened cabbage, allowing several inches of room at the top to avoid overflow.

    STEP 2
Shred the cabbage thinly – a food processor makes light work of this. Layer the cabbage and the salt in the tub or bowl. Massage the salt into the cabbage for 5 mins, wait 5 mins, then repeat. You should end up with a much-reduced volume of cabbage sitting in its own brine. Mix in the caraway seeds and the peppercorns.

    STEP 3
Cover the surface of the cabbage entirely with a sheet of cling film, then press out all the air bubbles from below. Weigh the cabbage down using a couple of heavy plates, or other weights that fit your bowl, and cover as much of the cabbage as possible. The level of the brine will rise to cover the cabbage a little. Cover the tub and leave in a dark place at a cool room temperature (about 18-20C) for at least five days. It will be ready to eat after five days, but for maximum flavour leave the cabbage to ferment for anywhere between 2-6 weeks (or until the bubbling subsides).

    STEP 4
Check the cabbage every day or so, releasing any gases that have built up as it ferments, giving it a stir to release the bubbles. If any scum forms, remove it, rinse the weights in boiling water and replace the cling film. You should see bubbles appearing within the cabbage, and possibly some foam on the top of the brine. It’s important to keep it at an even, cool room temperature – too cool and the ferment will take longer than you’d like, too warm and the sauerkraut may become mouldy or ferment too quickly, leading to a less than perfect result.

    STEP 5
The cabbage will become increasingly sour the longer it’s fermented, so taste it now and again. When you like the flavour, transfer it to smaller sterilised jars. Will keep in the fridge for up to six months.

    ENJOY
