GOD KNOWS THE PLAN HE HAS FOR US, EVEN IN A WORLD IN TURMOIL(JER. 29:11)
The way we take Christianity today isn't the pattern that was experienced years before our time. Today, we (supposed christians) are in a competition with the world, forgetting that even though we are in the world,we are not of the world.
As at this moment,for the genuine and Unconditional lover of God, God's Kingdom is domiciled in our hearts. But sadly, and very unfortunate too, a majority of christians have even outsmarted those we call unbelievers, in the pursuit of the mundane materials of the world where satan is the ruler. I believe the devil is having a good time watching believers selling our rights over and over again. We can't afford to wait for God's Timing;
10. For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
11. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
12. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Jer 29: 10-13)
Now, the vs 11 of the above scripture is very popular. How I wish the vs 10 will be popular too. Because in the vs 10,we find the foundation of the vs 11.
In the vs 10, there was a specific time,a time of waiting caused by the Hebrews' disobedience, the same way we're disobeying today. For the Hebrews,it was 70 years in exile/slavery. The 70 years was their chastisement. They became so adapted to exile that the 70 years came and passed, without their knowing, for many of them have found alternative gods. Thank God for Daniel who studied scriptures and found out that the time has elapsed. The way most of us are comfortably settled in sinful lifestyles.
However, the point I want us to understand is that there's a waiting time.And it's advisable we don't compromise or get tired during our waiting period;
2. And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Hab 2: 2-3)
Here also,we have a vs 3 that's more popular than the vs 2,that laid the foundation for the vs3. THE VS 2B,STATED THAT*RUN THAT READETH IT.* This means that, for the vs 3 to manifest, we should patiently run with the vision(obedience to God's Word).
Now, let's study another scripture.
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you (perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you ). (1Pe 5: 10)
Here,it is explicitly broken into 4 phases or stages.
Perfect; It's worthy to note the preceding words... "After that you have suffered a while"
In this world in turmoil, anyone who says that he/she's a christian, and hasn't been tried or afflicted for the faith, congratulate them and move on. Those have not known Christianity beyond mere religion. Compromise is hovering around them.*TRIALS AND AFFLICTIONS (NOT TEMPTATIONS) THAT WE'VE PASS THROUGH BECAUSE OF STEADFAST CONFESSION OF CHRIST JESUS AS OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR, AND WE COME OUT UNSCATHED(YES, WE WILL BE BURNT, BUT WILL HEAL, ONLY THE SCARS WILL BE LEFT AS OUR TOKEN),THESE WILL PLACE US ON THE PATH OF PERFECTION BY THE IMPUTATION OF CHRIST JESUS' RIGHTEOUSNESS IN US THROUGH HIS SHED BLOOD ON THE CROSS!*
This doesn't include suffering for our sins,eg, being beaten and sent to jail for anything that constitutes a crime. God also flogs us as chastisement, whenever we missed it,and we know it,confess and repent of it. Yes,God will certainly FORGIVE us,but He lets us know that He wasn't please we fell;
3. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
4. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
5. And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6. For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
7. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8. But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. (Heb 12: 3-8)
But know this,God has the prerogative of the instrument (method) of chastisement. What He used for me, may not be used for you. And if we stray, and God doesn't respond, *IT'S A CLEAR SIGNAL THAT WE'VE GONE OVERBOARD! IF WE TRULY KNOW THIS,WE NEED TO HASTILY BEAT A RETREAT ON OUR ALTAR OF GENUINE TEARS AND CORRESPONDING REPENTANCE.* All these is required to keep us on the path of perfection.
Stablish; At this point,we are rooted firmly on the path of perfection and indwelt by the Fullness of the Godhead! We are already evidentially walking by faith and no longer by sight.Nothing matters to us anymore than PLEASING GOD. We are no longer in church because of what we can get from God. Our love of God is now Unconditional;
15. Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
16. He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him. (Job 13: 15-16)
Strengthen; Every action requires corresponding energy(strength).At this point, God refills us as we continue on our pilgrimage in this world ruled by the dictates of Lucifer. We no longer look or thirst for, or even value whatever attractions the world offers or its allurements. Our focus is on sustaining and increasing our intimate relationship with Christ Jesus now indwelt in us;
28. Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31. But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isa 40: 28-31)
Settle you; God now trusts us as truly His Own, because by His Grace and Mercy, we have sustained the tempo of growth in Him. He begins to answer some of our prayers that hitherto were not answered because weren't spiritually matured enough for them.
Here,His blessings,eg, prosperity, become our servants, instead of us being their servants, and we become the pride of our ever Good God!;
36. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. (Heb 10: 36-37)
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. (Heb 10: 39)
According to Rom.8:26-28, the Holy Spirit begins to intercede and groan for us, and everything, and I mean everything(even the things meant for evil), begins to work together for our good, Amen,!
