• For all the mothers out there, imagine if you had to carry multiple children at the same time? This #WolfSpider obviously just had a litter hatch, but is she moving her home or is this common for them to pack the kids for short trips, lol? I haven't bothered to research it, but thought it was a cool photo.

  • Today my daydreams brought me back to the #BurningCoalVein. A few hours after taking this photo I saw movement in the area I labeled '#deer' and took out my binculars to see what was going on. It was dusk, so the sun was fading and it took me a minute to get things focused in, but when I did, I saw a deer.

At first I thought it was a group of deer, but soon noticed that there were two #coyotes chasing him. I felt honored to be witnessing something you normally only see on a #documentary.

Note: This photo is just for reference and does not actually show the animals depicted. This image was taken earlier in the day, but shows the exact location.

  • Have you seen a #Cicada before? I've grown up hearing them all my life, but hadn't actually seen one until I was in my thirties. As a kid when they were making their call, which is more like a vibration, I asked my mother what that noise was. She told me it was the electricity going through the power lines.

I'm not sure why she told us that, but it wasn't the first time as a kid we were given the wrong information. These guys are a type of #locust that live as larvae underground in the root systems of trees. Every seven years they pop out of the ground to molt, becoming what you see here. I have a shot of one coming out of its skin, but can't find it, so will have to share it later.
