IS SURROCACY BIBLICALLY SOUND A WAY OF HUMAN REPRODUCTION?
Since the beginning of time,Lucifer has and continues in his failed attempts to use "SCIENCE" to try and obliterate God's Word and Sovereign Authority. But one certain thing he knows is that, his BOSS AND MASTER,who he is fighting is only using him as a tool,and once his time is up, he and his demons/ earthly worshippers will be sunk in his eternal abode...hell!
Those in my orbit know I'm not really a fan of engaging in controversial subjects,which always ends up in profitless(in most cases) heated debates.
But for this ...I have been trying for long to avoid it,but the burden became so heavy that I'd to seek out those who share the same Biblical,and equally clinical belief in the ungodliness of surrogacy as an option of human reproduction as I.
Even though there is a lot of dialogue around having babies, if a couple cannot have a baby, it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with them... not from a spiritual perspective or their alternative choices to have children. The Bible recorded no entire lifetime barren woman, except Michal, Saul's daughter and King David's wife,who mocked him for praising God with heartfelt abandon. God was wroth with her!
Surrogacy is a popular subject within the Christian community as well as outside the Christian community. There are many Christians who believe it is perfectly fine to have a baby via surrogacy, and there are other Christians who take the opposite view.
With the differing views among Christians, we need to turn to the Bible. Everyone is entitled to their opinion; however, the Bible contains the truth.
THE FIRST SURROCACY!
The first surrogacy found in the Bible is in Genesis 16. Abraham and Sarah are the first parents who use a surrogate mother in order to have a child. Sarah was unable to have children, so she had her servant, Hagar, become the surrogate mother of her child.
TAKE NOTE OF THIS...SARAH WASN'T CREATED BARREN...GOD PRESERVED HER WOMB FOR HIS OWN GLORY...BUT BOTH ABRAHAM AND SARAH COULDN'T UNDERSTAND GOD'S PLAN AS AT THAT POINT.
Abraham was still the father: however, the true mother of this child was not Sarah but rather Hagar. Despite Hagar only following orders from Sarah, Sarah became extremely mad at Hagar and beat her. It went as far as Hagar running away from Sarah.
Hagar ran away with her son and was prepared to die. God comforted, knowing it wasn't her fault,as she had to obey her "Madam" Sarah, and Hagar eventually returns with her son to Abraham and Sarah. From this first account of surrogacy in the Bible, we can see just how much pain it can cause. Till today, we see the havoc being inflicted on the world by that singular act of impatience. Abraham had to send Ishmael away,as he wasn't the God promised SEED.
Thus, whoever is using this as a backup for surrogacy is on a wrong track. Abraham slept with another woman (not fusion of sperm and ovum.)
While surrogacy doesn't occur today as the result of a husband being intimate with another woman, the principle is still there...AND I REPEAT, THE PRINCIPLE IS WRONG...THE DIFFERENCE IS CLEAR!
Committed Christian believers who know their God will never opt for surrogacy even if they cannot have their own children...the wait can be emotionally traumatic. But once they hold on to the fact, that there was no barren in God's Word, they will learn to trust God and wait for His Plans for them;
(Jeremiah 29:11) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
From the viewpoint of the woman who cannot have the child, and opts for surrogacy (science,) it can cause her great pain to know that she cannot be the one who carries her child. Many of us may shrug over this, but for others, it can cause great heartbreak and ache.
As a temporarily
(temporary , because years don't count for God the way they count for us,) childless Faithful christian married couple, considering surrogacy, you need to make sure you think over this topic immensely and go back to your God and His Word. Because, it will be a decision that you will have to live with for the rest of your life.
Nowhere in the Bible does God directly forbid surrogacy
(OH YES BECAUSE, GOD KNOWS HE NEVER CREATED ANY WOMAN TO BE BARREN, NOR ANY MAN TO HAVE A LOW SPERM COUNT, SO NATURALLY, THERE'S NOTHING TO FORBID THERE.)
However, as we can see from Genesis 16, the look alike we lay claim to in supporting our impatience and lack of confidence in God's Word did cause problems. When a husband and wife get married, they become one flesh. If they have any children, it will be the two of them who are the parents.
This is how God designed the family relationship to be ... one mother and one father. When there is a surrogate mother involved, it means there is an additional third person in the scenario.(An aberration in God's Sight...you are not obligated to believe,but I'm obligated to tell you.)
As we can see from the Bible, marriage is to be between one man and one woman...not a man and two women. Anything outside of this union goes against God’s design for marriage. Every male Bible character that went for more than one wife, experienced one problem or the other...even to the point of losing salvation like ever infamous King Solomon...the polygamist's solid defense.
If we look from the surrogate mother's perspective, we can see things differently too. It would be hard to fathom that the surrogate mother wouldn't build some sort of motherly bond with the child since it would be her own child growing inside her for nine months.
Going further, even if the surrogate mother changed her mind and wanted to keep the baby, she couldn't. Due to the law, she would have to give the baby to the man and woman who wanted to have the child.
Who knows how much pain a surrogate mother would feel the moment after she delivers a baby, just for a nurse to take it away, and she will never see the baby again.
There are many ethical problems surrounding this that can cause great pain and problems for everyone involved, including the baby.
When that baby grows up,and discovers that he/she came into the world in another woman's womb other their professed parents. Isn't it traumatic? Some would want to go looking for the woman who was a home then for nine months.
Many individuals try to use the Old Testament out of context to try to claim the woman is struggling with a sin problem, and that's why she can't have children. This couldn't be further from the truth. ALL THE WOMEN IN THE BIBLE, THAT PEOPLE THEN DEEMED TO BE BARREN, EVENTUALLY GAVE BIRTH TO "SPECIAL CHILDREN."
Sarah had Isaac, Rebecca(after 20 years,had Jacob and Esau (two nations,) Rachael had Joseph, Manoah had Samson, Hannah had Prophet Samuel, Elizabeth had John the Baptist, etc,!
There is not an underlying "sin problem." Instead of condemning the woman for not being able to have a child, it is best to be encouraging and supportive...for God is preserving their wombs for special SEEDS.
AGAIN, I WANT TO REEMPHASIZE THIS...GOD CREATED NONE TO BE BARREN, DEFINITELY NOT THOSE SERVING HIM FAITHFULLY;
There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil. (Exo 23: 26)
Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. (Deu 7: 14)
While many people may point her in the direction of surrogacy, this might not be the best idea. As established, it can cause unfixable pain, anguish, and disaster.
Isaiah's words in(Chapter 54:1-6) weren't merely figurative,but rather prophetic ... a passionate appeal for waiting couples to stay in the Faith;
Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. (Isa 54: 1)
For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. (Isa 54: 5)
ADOPTION IS A BETTER OPTION FOR THE IMPATIENT COUPLE!
Rather than opting for surrogacy, consider the idea of adoption. Adoption is a big decision, just like surrogacy is, but adoption doesn't come with all the pain and heartbreak that surrogacy can involve.
Surrogacy doesn't fit in any place in God's Word, however, in the Bible, we do see that adoption is encouraged and Biblical. In fact, when we become believers, we are adopted into the family of God.
Despite the fact that we are not Israel, God brings us into His family as His adoptive sons and daughters. This is a beautiful truth for all believers across the globe. Even though we might look different from one another, we are all adopted children of our God.
If you choose to adopt rather than use a surrogate, this is a biblical alternative. There are thousands of children who need a home and a loving family.
While these children are not technically your own flesh and blood, you have the opportunity to love them just as God chooses to love us as adoptive children. In this way, the love of God can be modeled in your actions and in your own family life.
If you are struggling to have children, you can choose to either keep trying or consider adoption.
Reflect on all of these decisions and turn to the Lord in prayer. Make sure to include Him in any decision you make and ask Him for guidance... Amen!
