Hi,
It's good and great to bring forth my entry in response to the prompt of this week 64 edition 1. Trusting that every participant is bubbling okay.
Since I started growing up, I have never dreamt that I would be confronted by a military personnel before. I so much fear the military personnel, when ever I see them as if the earth should open for me to enter. At times I fidget at the mention of their name.
It was this day after a powerful Sunday worship across the school because I lived on the campus which made me never to acquaint myself with the outside surrounding which makes it difficult to track the strategic areas especially for military zones.
Stepping out this fateful day with my beautiful ear piece inserted into my ear listening to cool music, I was lost totally because the melody was super and my spirit really got connected such that I barely notice the movement of vehicles, motorcycle etc while others trek with their legs just as I attempted that day.
As I moved out that day, I never knew that I supposed not to receive phone calls at the military check point in fact I didn't know it was even a check point at the first place because it doesn't look like it at all. I suddenly heard someone calling hey,hey stop there and come here. Hmm I started shivering with great fear.
I summoned courage and came to see the soldier calling. He said I should remove phone from my pocket, remove the sim card, battery, cover and put them separately in the various pockets in my shirt and trousers. Thereafter he said don't ever remove them....and I shouted Yes sir. Hmmm I walked out the environment check point with speed without looking fear till I got to hostel.
That experience became indelible for me whenever I remembered it. So soldiers can be funny like this and sometimes can proof very tough.
I thought soldiers are always brutal in their dealings with bloody civilian like me but that day was a different moment in my life.
In another development, I was on transit to a long destination. As soon as we got to the military check point again, some few drivers that couldn't cooperates with them suddenly they were asked to come out of the car and started doing frog jump. They were almost naked completely because I couldn't see any clothes on then apart from boxers. They sweet and looked very dirty because of the punishment given unto them.
It's not good to fall into the hands of the these military personnel.
CONCLUSION
I would like to conclude that in as much as discipline is key to the development of human being the way some soldiers handle it is very bad and it creates a lot of false scenes. How can you be punish for the crime you know nothing about? Probably because you refused to tilt according to their desire or wishes that becomes a matter to them. I dislike such display.
I learnt that whatever you are innocent of may not hurt you. Do your part by not trespassing against the law.

Elon Musk Orchestrates Takedown of the Most Powerful Club in the World
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is currently being held in Davos, Switzerland.

Elon Musk wants to replay the biblical fight between David and Goliath.

In this case he is David, the underdog who takes on the huge and giant favorite Goliath played here by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

As it has for decades, this circle of economic and political elites and personalities from civil society has been meeting since January 16 in the ski resort of Davos in Switzerland. This 2023 edition is particularly eventful because it takes place in a context of multiple crises, between the war in Ukraine, global warming and the persistent Covid-19 pandemic.

"The world today is at a critical inflection point," the WEF said on its website. "The twin triggers of the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine rattled an already brittle global system. Economic growth in the world’s largest economies is stalling, while navigating headwinds from rising food and energy prices."

'Master the Future'
To reflect and discuss all these issues, the WEF welcomes 52 heads of state and government and nearly 600 CEOs, including JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink.

But the problem this year is that Davos is more talked about outside the walls where the Forum is held. Elon Musk, the serial and whimsical entrepreneur has taken the lead of the opponents and critics of this powerful club.

The Techno king, as he is known at Tesla (TSLA) - Get Free Report, wants to use his growing influence to bring down Davos, condemned by both left and right. He seems to have joined the ranks of the anti-globalists, on the extreme left and extreme right, who in recent years have redoubled their opposition to the forum. They consider it an assembly of elites disconnected from the reality of the world.

After having declined the invitation of the organizers, he multiplies the attacks against the WEF. He first called the Forum "boring" and then wondered if it was the ideal setting to discuss cooperation between the public and private sectors.

"I guess there’s value to having a mixed government & commercial forum of some kind," the billionaire said. "WEF does kinda give me the willies though, but I’m sure everything is fine," said on January 15.

He then ridiculed founder Klaus Schwab's call asking participants to "master the future" in the face of the challenges currently facing the world, a message delivered during his welcome speech.

"'Master the Future' doesn’t sound ominous at all," the billionaire said sarcastically. "How is WEF/Davos even a thing? Are they trying to be the boss of Earth!?" Musk lambasted on January 17.

'Unelected' Government People 'Don't Want'

These criticisms seem to be part of a well-orchestrated strategy by the billionaire to dismantle an icon. Musk has just moved up a gear. He now denounces the WEF and goes so far as to compare it to a sort of unelected and unpopular government.

"WEF is increasingly becoming an unelected world government that the people never asked for and don’t want," the tech tycoon blasted on January 18.

Aware that this charge against the WEF will resonate with his more than 126.3 million followers on the social network, he immediately organized a poll whose tendentious question should lead to a broad rejection of Davos.

"The World Economic Forum should control the world," Musk asked.

Voters have only two options: YES or NO.

More than 1.5 million Twitter users had already voted at the time of this writing. Twitter users have until January 19 to vote. The NO was well ahead with more than 86% of the votes cast.

Musk is not saying what he intends to do with the results of this poll. The SpaceX founder regularly solicits the opinion of Twitter users on important issues such as stepping down as CEO of the social network. He has often pledged to respect the results of these polls.

The WEF did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Davos has been attracting criticism for many years, but it has only increased of late. Musk may be the spokesperson who can bring about change.

Although the WEF sees itself as an important forum for addressing the acute problems facing the planet, critics question the solutions the Forum has offered.

"The World Economic Forum meeting in Davos has become largely irrelevant, little more than an exercise in self-congratulation for the world’s elites to convince themselves that they’re making a difference," blasted Patriotic Millionaires, an association of rich individuals fighting for "equal political representation, a livable minimum wage and a fair tax system."

Equally scathing criticism of the WEF comes from Greenpeace, which denounces the Forum's so-called fights for the environment.

Philly Fed President Has Seen Enough: 25bps Hikes "Will Be Appropriate Going Forward"

The digital ink on the CPI print had barely dried but Philadelphia Fed president Patrick Harker had seen enough, and moments after the report he declared that he is for a 25 basis points in three weeks saying 25bps (which for the Vox grads does not mean 25%) "will be appropriate going forward." Harker is a voter on rates this year, so that tells us that, as of now, there’s at least one vote for 25 at the Feb. 1 meeting, and after today's report, likely many more.

“I expect that we will raise rates a few more times this year, though, to my mind, the days of us raising them 75 basis points at a time have surely passed,” Harker said in prepared remarks Thursday for an event in Malvern, Pennsylvania. “In my view, hikes of 25 basis points will be appropriate going forward.”

Harker also said he expects the Fed to get to just over 5% and then hold, and says it is likely the Fed will hike rates "a few" more times in 2023, although that's probably market dependent.

And since Harker’s prepared remarks did not mention the consumer price index report for December, which was published shortly before the release of his speech, it is likely that the soft report merely solidified his dovish case. To wit, excluding food, energy and shelter, inflation declined 0.1% over the past three months on average, which as #Bloomberg notes, makes a strong case for stepping down the hikes.

Fed officials see interest rates rising above 5% this year and staying there until 2024, according to Fed projections released last month. Other Fed officials have also said in recent days they are open to making a more incremental 25 basis-point rate increase at their next meeting ending Feb. 1, depending on the data. But policymakers stress the central bank still has more work to do to tame prices and are not anticipating rate cuts this year.

Harker, who votes in monetary policy decisions this year, reiterated that officials expect to hold rates at higher levels to give them time to travel through the economy. “At some point this year, I expect that the policy rate will be restrictive enough that we will hold rates in place to let monetary policy do its work,” he said.

The #Fed official said he is not forecasting a recession, though he does expect the US economy to grow by about 1% this year before rising to “trend growth” of about 2% in 2024 and 2025. He expects the unemployment rate to rise to about 4.5% this year before dropping to 4% over the next two years.

Whether due to the soft #CPI report, or Harker's comments, but according to the bond market, the odds of a more than 25bps hike in February tumbled from 26% before the report to just 8% currently and sliding. #news #economy
