  • There is this island, one of the most isolated continental fragments adrift on the blue waters of the northwest Indian Ocean,

A third of its flora and 90 percent of its reptiles are found no where else.

The white dunes of the Yemeni island of
    Socotra.

  • In my opinion an image with a lone duck surrounded by only water is quite bland, but using the #3D feature of the #PhotoScapeX editor made a big difference. After the fact I thought about putting this one as an overlay over another image with tree branches around the edges. It would really spruce it up. Maybe next time? I'll start including the original images as well.

It's quite amazing how far our tech has gone in just the last decade. I'm so glad I didn't get into #photography back when we had to develop the film.

I'm also checking to see if SoMee converts the images to JPG or supports PNG with transparent backgrounds. In the preview it looks like it does support that. I also added the original image, which I am satisfied with how the water turned out after editing.

  • I'm playing around with the editor again to see if I can spruce up the less interesting photos I have. I found this cool feature that did just that, imo. I mean for me, all pictures involving nature are great, but not too many others do and I'm trying to cater to everyone, lol(jk). Glitter and perfection seems to be the expectation these days. I'm using the free version of the #PhotoScapeX photo editor for desktop.

  • I found these little guys running all over the place down in #Florida. They are #BrownAnoles, which are not native to the U.S., but were introduced a few decades ago. They are now one of the most common lizards there. Their range only extends into #Georgia, but they are expected to continue to expand Northward over time. Their cousin the #GreenAnole is native to Florida, though.

At first I though it was a #CommonHouseGecko, but the shape of the eyes and long slender toes are definitely not characteristic of one. After a little research I was able to identify it.

  • The iguana
A genus of squamate sauropsids (reptiles) of the family Iguanidae. are reptiles that have a light green body coloration, although in some species this tends to be somewhat darker or duller. Iguanas tend to change their skin constantly. Although this process depends on the food, the stress of the individual, the iguana terrarium and other characteristics of the place where they are. Iguanas have excellent vision and can see bodies, shadows and movement at great distances. They have a body temperature that varies according to the environment. A green iguana should maintain its temperature between 29 and 39 C°, during the day, and at nightfall, around 20 and 25 C°. It is vital that temperatures are maintained in these ranges because it depends on them that the animal correctly execute the processes of feeding, reproduction and digestion. On the other hand, the iguana should not be placed in a place where there are other specimens of its species since its behaviour with other iguanas can be aggressive. Reptiles are cold-blooded animals and their habitat is warm and tropical areas, so they need the sun to survive and stay healthy. The female, when she is pregnant, digs tunnels to lay her eggs and disperse them, and thus mislead predators. These tunnels can be up to 2 meters deep. Iguanas are herbivores; in fact, it can be dangerous for them to eat meat. However, in some areas, as part of their habitat has been destroyed, they have been forced to feed on anything to survive, with the negative consequences that this can entail.
