LIFE IN A STORMY WORLD THAT HAS BEEN WRITTEN OFF BY GOD !(2PT.3:7-13)
AFTER CHURCH SERVICE TODAY, WHAT NEXT? (LK.5:1-11)
It's estimated that 2.38 billion people out of a world of an estimated 8 billion people, are either true practical Christians or ID card carrying Christians.
Now,out of this huge figures, let's assume half or 3/4 of them attended church service today. BUT, THE QUESTION BEGGING TO BE ANSWERED IS *WHAT NEXT AFTER COMING HOME FROM SERVICE?*
What I mean is that, for every fellowship with Christ Jesus,we can't leave the same way we met Him. There should be a transcending to another level. Do we who were in service today or in any other services for that matter, have any positive influence in us,or it's business as usual... perhaps dropping our Bibles, only to dust them on another service day?
Personally, I hope the message you(we) heard today was encouraging and helpful. Let's take a moment to process and discuss what God may be trying to say to everyone of us,(in your home or in your community group.
If no one is with you, you can have a personal conversation with God, He is always with you(us.)
In the Scripture: Luke 5:1-11 ,we saw how Peter and others attended a service where Peter's boat was both the altar and the pulpit. After the service, it was so impactful, that everyone left whatever was important to them and gunned for what they(and that should include you and I) saw as ever the most important thing in life...life with Christ Jesus
We have other scriptures that can educate us more on this...like Eph 1:21-23; and especially in Matthew 9:35-38, where we are told to pray for God to send more labourers. IN OTHER WORDS, SERVICE DOESN'T END BY COMING BACK FROM THE GATHERING OF BELIEVERS. THERE'S MORE TO IT THAN THAT.
Getting home , praying, eating and resting a bit isn't a bad idea...at least, until you over indulge in it and becomes a good excuse to you, rather than owning up to it. OUR SUNDAY(INCLUDING SATURDAY) SERVICE DOESN'T END WHEN WE SHARE THE GRACE OR GET HOME...RATHER, IT'S ANOTHER STEP FORWARD. You know why? Every encounter with Christ Jesus takes us to another level. You can't truly...and I mean TRULY come from service without being taken to another level in our relationship with God. Except,we went there to swell up the numbers...but that isn't your portion in Christ Jesus' Name Amen !
But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the the Spirit of the Lord(2Cor.3:18)
We must realize the importance of knowing our true identity as THE CHURCH. When ChristJesus started THE CHURCH, He began it by building people, not a building. It should grieve that we are not together as the Body of Christ should be since Christ Jesus started a community of believers known as THE CHURCH.
It should be a challenge to us to look at the bigger picture, that while we are not in the church building the Church hasn’t shut down. God has been using us like a net, “cast out on the other side of the boat.” We are challenged to not stop being the church, to make sure we keep the time spent in service on Sundays(or Saturdays for others) in its proper perspective. We heard God’s heart come out of the message(for a true Bible believing Church), to be THE CHURCH that is all in, 100% of the time!
Christ Jesus began to build the church with people and then told the church to go reach people. Not one brick was needed.
God has helped us to see how essential we are for one another so we would not take it for granted ever again.
The church is not losing and the church is not defeated, the church is being refined and repurposed.
God wants us to know that if we let our definition of the church be contained into 1% of our week then we have stopped flowing with God, we’ve stopped ourselves.
The Church doesn't stop when service ends...no,no,no, we go home as the BEAREANS mentioned by Paul, to see if what we have heard is so,and if so, put them into practice...in wherever we found ourselves...play,leisure,busy and what have you!
We cry of injustices but when injustice is standing in front of us in the shape of a hurting soul or a needy neighbor, our arms are short, our hands are closed, our mouths are silent. THAT ISN'T THE SPIRIT OF THE CHURCH CHRIST JESUS WENT TO THE CROSS FOR.
I read of something not quite long ago. It was the government in China taking Christians to jail for practicing their faith in a home. If we ever get there...what will we be caught doing? I hope we’ll get caught being the church we are meant to be,and not compromising.
Has our being in church made us feel the depletion, the lack of being with other believers? How has it made us feel? And do we intend to do about it? Sit down and mope...no,not at all...but to start correcting the abnormality.
There are dangers of defining Sunday morning services as the epitome of the church. That can cause a lot of damage we mustn't allow.
LET'S BE THE CHURCH this week by practicing Christianity. Check up one someone from the church on the phone or through a video call. Look through our community groups to practice being together during the week
Lord, we pray that our hearts will yearn for you to worship together and our hearts for the mission of reaching our community will come together. We pray, dear Lord God,by Your Grace and Mercy, we’ll be an all in Church 100% of the time! Amen !
