Trump “gave” the Golan Heights to Israel’s supporters, now more land is at risk Michael F. Brown Rights and Accountability 20 December 2024 In his first term as president, Donald Trump presented Miriam Adelson with the Medal of Freedom. Patsy Lynch Polaris Israel is establishing a “buffer zone” (Jabal al-Sheikh, also known as Mount Hermon) on a “buffer zone” (the Golan Heights) after already expelling some 800,000 Palestinians with the establishment of the expansionist country in 1948. Israeli leaders claim this “buffer zone” – more accurately termed occupation – will be “temporary.” Experience with “temporary” occupation in the West Bank makes clear that may well not be the case. The Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem highlighted Israel’s misuse of the term “temporary” 10 years ago in a position paper documenting “a 47-year-long temporary occupation.” Today, it’s a 57-year-long “temporary” occupation, a point largely reiterated this summer in an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice. B’Tselem stated at the time about the West Bank occupation: “Since international law prohibits the annexation of a territory by force, according to this law, the occupying state does not gain sovereignty over the occupied territory and its control there is meant to be temporary, pending a diplomatic agreement that determines the status of the territory. However, Israel’s actions on the ground indicate that it does not see the occupation as temporary.” The same international law applies to the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, yet Israel unilaterally annexed that territory in 1981. President Donald Trump, who is still maneuvering to clear his US domestic record of 34 felony convictions, recognized Israeli claims of sovereignty over the Golan Heights in 2019. President Joe Biden did not reverse course during a term in office that may yet be most remembered for his abetting the horrors of the Gaza genocide. Excuses, excuses at Foggy Bottom State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller told journalists on 9 December that “the Syrian army abandoned its positions in the area around the negotiated Israeli-Syrian buffer zone, which potentially creates a vacuum that could have been filled by terrorist organizations that would threaten the state of Israel and would threaten civilians inside Israel.” The “negotiated Israeli-Syrian buffer zone” is, in fact, no such thing. It’s all Syrian territory. The State Department and Biden administration are taking Israel’s side in a way that makes a mockery of international law, particularly with Israel’s history of permanent “temporary” occupation. As he has noted repeatedly on Israel’s behalf over the last 14 months, Miller claimed, “Every country has the right to take action against terrorist organizations, and every country, I think, would be worried about a possible vacuum that could be filled by terrorist organizations on its border, especially in volatile times, as we obviously are in right now in Syria.” Miller’s words ignore how time and again Israel has abused the language of defensive action (including in 1967, a war initiated by Israel) to seize Arab land, repeatedly turning previous residents into refugees. Such rhetoric emphasizes an Israeli right to self-defense, but no similar right is extended to Palestinians and other regional countries. Miller also stressed that Israel’s actions in Syria will be temporary. The words are no more reassuring than Biden’s claim earlier this year that Rafah is a red line in terms of the ongoing destruction of Gaza. According to Miller: “Israel has said that these actions are temporary to defend its borders. These are not permanent actions. And so ultimately, what we want to see is lasting stability between Israel and security – sorry, Israel and Syria, and that means we support all sides upholding the 1974 disengagement agreement.” He is nothing if not consistent, once again misstating the border situation. The reality is that Miller is discussing Syrian territory occupied in 1967 – and more Syrian territory occupied in 2024. UN Secretary-General António Guterres on 12 December also raised the 1974 disengagement agreement when he noted that it “remains in force” and that it must be sustained, “including by ending all unauthorized presence in the area of separation and refraining from any action that would undermine the ceasefire and stability in Golan.” The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, maintained on the same day: “The collapse of the Syrian regime created a vacuum on Israel’s border and in the buffer zone established by the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement. Israel will not permit jihadi groups to fill that vacuum and threaten Israeli communities on the Golan Heights with October 7th style attacks.” The statement added: “That is why Israeli forces entered the buffer zone and took control of strategic sites near Israel’s border. This deployment is temporary until a force that is committed to the 1974 agreement can be established and security on our border can be guaranteed.” On 17 December, Netanyahu ascended to the summit of Jabal al-Sheikh/Mount Hermon. This time he did not employ the word “temporary” as he had five days earlier, referring instead to making an “assessment in order to decide on the deployment of the IDF [Israel’s military] in this important place until another arrangement is found that ensures Israel’s security.” A quick departure can only be seen as highly unlikely, particularly with the Biden administration not pressing the matter and the incoming Trump administration already having backed annexation of Golan territory seized in 1967. The United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) issued a press statement on 13 December regarding “a significant increase” in Israeli military movements “along the ceasefire line.” The statement further noted that “UNDOF has informed its Israeli counterparts that these actions constitute a violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement. UNDOF urges all parties to respect their obligations under the agreement, cease all military activities in the area of separation, and uphold the terms of the 1974 agreement to preserve stability in the Golan.” UNDOF concluded by noting this “follows an incident on 7 December when armed individuals looted weapons and ammunition at United Nations position 10A near Hadar and UNDOF personnel engaged with leaders of the local community and recovered a number of the looted items, including most of the weapons and ammunition that had been taken earlier in the day.” Israel is clearly looking for any pretext it can find to expand its footprint in Syria. Democrats openly collaborate with colonization On 10 December, Miller made sure to emphasize that the US under the Biden administration accepted – as it had in July – the earlier lawbreaking of Israel and the Trump administration in the Golan Heights. “I would just say with respect to the Golan Heights, of course, the United States recognized several years ago control over the Golan Heights. That’s just as a factual matter.” Miller added: “Now, when it comes to other disputed areas, we have long made clear that we want to see a two-state solution. When you talk to areas that have been under Israeli control since 1967, we want to see the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. And you have seen us take a number of steps to try to advance that possibility, and we’ll continue to do that.” Right-wing Israeli leaders presumably see such craven statements and think that all they have to do is get Trump on board with annexation of all or part of the West Bank and a Democratic president will later also fall in line. It happened with the Golan Heights courtesy of the Trump and Biden administrations and Israeli leaders will surely think it’s a possibility with the West Bank, in part or whole, for 2025 or soon after. In fact, Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich, who is also effectively the governor of the occupied West Bank, quickly ordered preparations for annexation of the West Bank after Trump’s November victory. Whether even more clear-cut Israeli apartheid with Trump’s support would move the Democrats, Arab states, the European Union and the United Nations to action remains very much in doubt. More likely, they would stand aside or issue ineffectual statements as they have for decades. Trump is already on record as saying of Republican donors Sheldon and Miriam Adelson that he “gave them the Golan Heights.” Despite a denial by Adelson spokesperson Andy Abboud, speculation is widespread that Miriam Adelson wants Trump’s backing of Israeli annexation of the West Bank as a quid pro quo for her $100 million in financial support of his 2024 presidential campaign. Certainly, many Israeli citizens are excited about the prospect of taking more land for Israel, whether in the West Bank or the Golan Heights. Nataly Dadon, an Israeli influencer and model, posted to Instagram that “If you’re looking for me, I’m on the Israeli Hermon (not Syrian, it’s all ours, accept it!).” Israeli defense minister Israel Katz tweeted on 8 December that “We instructed the IDF, the prime minister and I, with the approval of the cabinet, to seize the buffer zone and control points to ensure the protection of all Israeli settlements in the Golan Heights – Jews and Druze – so that they would not be exposed to threats from the other side.” Israel’s military has also struck hundreds of Syrian military targets since the collapse of the government of Bashar al-Assad. Additionally, Netanyahu recently announced a plan to double the number of Israeli settlers in the part of the Golan Heights occupied by Israel since 1967. All settlements are illegal under international law. The prime minister’s plans are not likely to be temporary. He is making a mockery of the so-called rules-based order and showing that the West doesn’t care when it’s an ally breaking those rules. I think Israel has title deed to Judea and Samaria. Huckabee refuses to recognize Gaza or the West Bank, but only the biblical terms. So when Trump made his announcement public, to all Americans he was lying through his teeth rubbing it in when he claimed: Mike [Huckabee] will work tirelessly to bring about Peace in the Middle East! Kisah Ashabul Kahfi mendapat perhatian lebih dengan digunakan sebagai nama surat dimana terdapat tiga kisah tersebut. Hal ini tentu bukan kebetulan semata, tapi karena kisah Ashabul Kahfi, seperti juga kisah dalam al-Quran lainnya, bukan merupakan kisah semata, tapi juga terdapat banyak pelajaran (ibrah) didalamnya. Pilar-pilarnya yang berjumlah seribu buah, semuanya terbuat dari emas, dan lampu-lampu yang berjumlah seribu buah, juga semuanya terbuat dari emas. Lampu-lampu itu bergelantungan pada rantai-rantai yang terbuat dari perak. Tiap malam apinya dinyalakan dengan sejenis minyak yang harum baunya. Di sebelah timur serambi dibuat lubang-lubang cahaya sebanyak seratus buah, demikian pula di sebelah baratnya. Sehingga matahari sejak mulai terbit sampai terbenam selalu dapat menerangi serambi. Raja itu pun membuat sebuah singgasana dari emas. Panjangnya 80 hasta dan lebarnya 40 hasta. Di sebelah kanannya tersedia 80 buah kursi, semuanya terbuat dari emas. Di situlah para hulubalang kerajaan duduk. Di sebelah kirinya juga disediakan 80 buah kursi terbuat dari emas, untuk duduk para pepatih dan penguasa-penguasa tinggi lainnya. Raja duduk di atas singgasana dengan mengenakan mahkota di atas kepala.” Sampai di situ pendeta yang bersangkutan berdiri lagi sambil berkata: “Jika engkau benar-benar tahu, coba terangkan kepadaku dari apakah mahkota itu dibuat?” “Hai saudara Yahudi,” kata Imam Ali menerangkan, “mahkota raja itu terbuat dari kepingan-kepingan emas, berkaki 9 buah, dan tiap kakinya bertaburan mutiara yang memantulkan cahaya laksana bintang-bintang menerangi kegelapan malam. Raja itu juga mempunyai 50 orang pelayan, terdiri dari anak-anak para hulubalang. Semuanya memakai selempang dan baju sutera berwarna merah. Celana mereka juga terbuat dari sutera berwarna hijau. Semuanya dihias dengan gelang-gelang kaki yang sangat indah. Masing-masing diberi tongkat terbuat dari emas. Mereka harus berdiri di belakang raja. Selain mereka, raja juga mengangkat 6 orang, terdiri dari anak-anak para cendekiawan, untuk dijadikan menteri-menteri atau pembantu-pembantuny a. Raja tidak mengambil suatu keputusan apa pun tanpa berunding lebih dulu dengan mereka. Enam orang pembantu itu selalu berada di kanan kiri raja, tiga orang berdiri di sebelah kanan dan yang tiga orang lainnya berdiri di sebelah kiri.” Pendeta yang bertanya itu berdiri lagi. Lalu berkata: “Hai Ali, jika yang kau katakan itu benar, coba sebutkan nama enam orang yang menjadi pembantu-pembantu raja itu!” Menanggapi hal itu, Imam Ali r.a. menjawab: “Kekasihku Muhammad Rasul Allah s.a.w. menceritakan kepadaku, bahwa tiga orang yang berdiri di sebelah kanan raja, masing-masing bernama Tamlikha, Miksalmina, dan Mikhaslimina. Adapun tiga orang pembantu yang berdiri di sebelah kiri, masing-masing bernama Martelius, Casitius dan Sidemius. Raja selalu berunding dengan mereka mengenai segala urusan. Tiap hari setelah raja duduk dalam serambi istana dikerumuni oleh semua hulubalang dan para punggawa, masuklah tiga orang pelayan menghadap raja. Seorang diantaranya membawa piala emas penuh berisi wewangian murni. Seorang lagi membawa piala perak penuh berisi air sari bunga. Sedang yang seorangnya lagi membawa seekor burung. Orang yang membawa burung ini kemudian mengeluarkan suara isyarat, lalu burung itu terbang di atas piala yang berisi air sari bunga. Burung itu berkecimpung di dalamnya dan setelah itu ia mengibas-ngibaskan sayap serta bulunya, sampai sari-bunga itu habis dipercikkan ke semua tempat sekitarnya. Kemudian si pembawa burung tadi mengeluarkan suara isyarat lagi. Burung itu terbang pula. Lalu hinggap di atas piala yang berisi wewangian murni. Sambil berkecimpung di dalamnya, burung itu mengibas-ngibaskan sayap dan bulunya, sampai wewangian murni yang ada dalam piala itu habis dipercikkan ke tempat sekitarnya. Pembawa burung itu memberi isyarat suara lagi. Burung itu lalu terbang dan hinggap di atas mahkota raja, sambil membentangkan kedua sayap yang harum semerbak di atas kepala raja. Demikianlah raja itu berada di atas singgasana kekuasaan selama tiga puluh tahun. Selama itu ia tidak pernah diserang penyakit apa pun, tidak pernah merasa pusing kepala, sakit perut, demam, berliur, berludah atau pun beringus. Setelah sang raja merasa diri sedemikian kuat dan sehat, ia mulai congkak, durhaka dan dzalim. Ia mengaku-aku diri sebagai “tuhan” dan tidak mau lagi mengakui adanya Allah s.w.t.ashabul-kahfi-11 Raja itu kemudian memanggil orang-orang terkemuka dari rakyatnya. Barang siapa yang taat dan patuh kepadanya,diberi pakaian dan berbagai macam hadiah lainnya. Tetapi barang siapa yang tidak mau taat atau tidak bersedia mengikuti kemauannya, ia akan segera dibunuh. Oleh sebab itu semua orang terpaksa mengiakan kemauannya. Dalam masa yang cukup lama, semua orang patuh kepada raja itu, sampai ia disembah dan dipuja. Mereka tidak lagi memuja dan menyembah Allah s.w.t. Pada suatu hari perayaan ulang-tahunnya, raja sedang duduk di atas singgasana mengenakan mahkota di atas kepala, tiba-tiba masuklah seorang hulubalang memberi tahu, bahwa ada balatentara asing masuk menyerbu ke dalam wilayah kerajaannya, dengan maksud hendak melancarkan peperangan terhadap raja. Demikian sedih dan bingungnya raja itu, sampai tanpa disadari mahkota yang sedang dipakainya jatuh dari kepala. Kemudian raja itu sendiri jatuh terpelanting dari atas singgasana. Salah seorang pembantu yang berdiri di sebelah kanan –seorang cerdas yang bernama Tamlikha– memperhatikan keadaan sang raja dengan sepenuh fikiran. Ia berfikir, lalu berkata di dalam hati: “Kalau Diqyanius itu benar-benar tuhan sebagaimana menurut pengakuannya, tentu ia tidak akan sedih, tidak tidur, tidak buang air kecil atau pun air besar. Itu semua bukanlah sifat-sifat Tuhan.” Enam orang pembantu raja itu tiap hari selalu mengadakan pertemuan di tempat salah seorang dari mereka secara bergiliran. Pada satu hari tibalah giliran Tamlikha menerima kunjungan lima orang temannya. Mereka berkumpul di rumah Tamlikha untuk makan dan minum, tetapi Tamlikha sendiri tidak ikut makan dan minum. Teman-temannya bertanya: “Hai Tamlikha, mengapa engkau tidak mau makan dan tidak mau minum?” “Teman-teman, ” sahut Tamlikha, “hatiku sedang dirisaukan oleh sesuatu yang membuatku tidak ingin makan dan tidak ingin minum, juga tidak ingin tidur.” Teman-temannya mengejar: “Apakah yang merisaukan hatimu, hai Tamlikha?” “Sudah lama aku memikirkan soal langit,” ujar Tamlikha menjelaskan. “Aku lalu bertanya pada diriku sendiri: ‘siapakah yang mengangkatnya ke atas sebagai atap yang senantiasa aman dan terpelihara, tanpa gantungan dari atas dan tanpa tiang yang menopangnya dari bawah? Siapakah yang menjalankan matahari dan bulan di langit itu? Siapakah yang menghias langit itu dengan bintang-bintang bertaburan?’ Kemudian kupikirkan juga bumi ini: ‘Siapakah yang membentang dan menghamparkan- nya di cakrawala? Siapakah yang menahannya dengan gunung-gunung raksasa agar tidak goyah, tidak goncang dan tidak miring?’ Aku juga lama sekali memikirkan diriku sendiri: ‘Siapakah yang mengeluarkan aku sebagai bayi dari perut ibuku? Siapakah yang memelihara hidupku dan memberi makan kepadaku? Semuanya itu pasti ada yang membuat, dan sudah tentu bukan Diqyanius’…” Teman-teman Tamlikha lalu bertekuk lutut di hadapannya. Dua kaki Tamlikha diciumi sambil berkata: “Hai Tamlikha dalam hati kami sekarang terasa sesuatu seperti yang ada di dalam hatimu. Oleh karena itu, baiklah engkau tunjukkan jalan keluar bagi kita semua!” “Saudara-saudara, ” jawab Tamlikha, “baik aku maupun kalian tidak menemukan akal selain harus lari meninggalkan raja yang dzalim itu, pergi kepada Raja pencipta langit dan bumi!” “Kami setuju dengan pendapatmu,” sahut teman-temannya. Tamlikha lalu berdiri, terus beranjak pergi untuk menjual buah kurma, dan akhirnya berhasil mendapat uang sebanyak 3 dirham. Uang itu kemudian diselipkan dalam kantong baju. Lalu berangkat berkendaraan kuda bersama-sama dengan lima orang temannya. Setelah berjalan 3 mil jauhnya dari kota, Tamlikha berkata kepada teman-temannya: “Saudara-saudara, kita sekarang sudah terlepas dari raja dunia dan dari kekuasaannya. Sekarang turunlah kalian dari kuda dan marilah kita berjalan kaki. Mudah-mudahan Allah akan memudahkan urusan kita serta memberikan jalan keluar.” Mereka turun dari kudanya masing-masing. Lalu berjalan kaki sejauh 7 farsakh, sampai kaki mereka bengkak berdarah karena tidak biasa berjalan kaki sejauh itu.ashabul-kahfi-12 Tiba-tiba datanglah seorang penggembala menyambut mereka. Kepada penggembala itu mereka bertanya: “Hai penggembala, apakah engkau mempunyai air minum atau susu?” “Aku mempunyai semua yang kalian inginkan,” sahut penggembala itu. “Tetapi kulihat wajah kalian semuanya seperti kaum bangsawan. Aku menduga kalian itu pasti melarikan diri. Coba beritahukan kepadaku bagaimana cerita perjalanan kalian itu!” “Ah…, susahnya orang ini,” jawab mereka. “Kami sudah memeluk suatu agama, kami tidak boleh berdusta. Apakah kami akan selamat jika kami mengatakan yang sebenarnya?” “Ya,” jawab penggembala itu. Tamlikha dan teman-temannya lalu menceritakan semua yang terjadi pada diri mereka. Mendengar cerita mereka, penggembala itu segera bertekuk lutut di depan mereka, dan sambil menciumi kaki mereka, ia berkata: “Dalam hatiku sekarang terasa sesuatu seperti yang ada dalam hati kalian. Kalian berhenti sajalah dahulu di sini. Aku hendak mengembalikan kambing-kambing itu kepada pemiliknya. Nanti aku akan segera kembali lagi kepada kalian.” Tamlikha bersama teman-temannya berhenti. Penggembala itu segera pergi untuk mengembalikan kambing-kambing gembalaannya. Tak lama kemudian ia datang lagi berjalan kaki, diikuti oleh seekor anjing miliknya.” Waktu cerita Imam Ali sampai di situ, pendeta Yahudi yang bertanya melonjak berdiri lagi sambil berkata: “Hai Ali, jika engkau benar-benar tahu, coba sebutkan apakah warna anjing itu dan siapakah namanya?” “Hai saudara Yahudi,” kata Ali bin Abi Thalib memberitahukan, “kekasihku Muhammad Rasul Allah s.a.w. menceritakan kepadaku, bahwa anjing itu berwarna kehitam-hitaman dan bernama Qithmir. Ketika enam orang pelarian itu melihat seekor anjing, masing-masing saling berkata kepada temannya: kita khawatir kalau-kalau anjing itu nantinya akan membongkar rahasia kita! Mereka minta kepada penggembala supaya anjing itu dihalau saja dengan batu. Anjing itu melihat kepada Tamlikha dan teman-temannya, lalu duduk di atas dua kaki belakang, menggeliat, dan mengucapkan kata-kata dengan lancar dan jelas sekali: “Hai orang-orang, mengapa kalian hendak mengusirku, padahal aku ini bersaksi tiada tuhan selain Allah, tak ada sekutu apa pun bagi-Nya. Biarlah aku menjaga kalian dari musuh, dan dengan berbuat demikian aku mendekatkan diriku kepada Allah s.w.t.” Anjing itu akhirnya dibiarkan saja. Mereka lalu pergi. Penggembala tadi mengajak mereka naik ke sebuah bukit. Lalu bersama mereka mendekati sebuah gua.” Pendeta Yahudi yang menanyakan kisah itu, bangun lagi dari tempat duduknya sambil berkata: “Apakah nama gunung itu dan apakah nama gua itu?!” Imam Ali menjelaskan: “Gunung itu bernama Naglus dan nama gua itu ialah Washid, atau di sebut juga dengan nama Kheram!” Ali bin Abi Thalib meneruskan ceritanya: secara tiba-tiba di depan gua itu tumbuh pepohonan berbuah dan memancur mata-air deras sekali. Mereka makan buah-buahan dan minum air yang tersedia di tempat itu. Setelah tiba waktu malam, mereka masuk berlindung di dalam gua. Sedang anjing yang sejak tadi mengikuti mereka, berjaga-jaga ndeprok sambil menjulurkan dua kaki depan untuk menghalang-halangi pintu gua. Kemudian Allah s.w.t. memerintahkan Malaikat maut supaya mencabut nyawa mereka. Kepada masing-masing orang dari mereka Allah s.w.t. mewakilkan dua Malaikat untuk membalik-balik tubuh mereka dari kanan ke kiri. Allah lalu memerintahkan matahari supaya pada saat terbit condong memancarkan sinarnya ke dalam gua dari arah kanan, dan pada saat hampir terbenam supaya sinarnya mulai meninggalkan mereka dari arah kiri. Suatu ketika waktu raja Diqyanius baru saja selesai berpesta ia bertanya tentang enam orang pembantunya. Ia mendapat jawaban, bahwa mereka itu melarikan diri. Raja Diqyanius sangat gusar. Bersama 80.000 pasukan berkuda ia cepat-cepat berangkat menyelusuri jejak enam orang pembantu yang melarikan diri. Ia naik ke atas bukit, kemudian mendekati gua. Ia melihat enam orang pembantunya yang melarikan diri itu sedang tidur berbaring di dalam gua. Ia tidak ragu-ragu dan memastikan bahwa enam orang itu benar-benar sedang tidur. Kepada para pengikutnya ia berkata: “Kalau aku hendak menghukum mereka, tidak akan kujatuhkan hukuman yang lebih berat dari perbuatan mereka yang telah menyiksa diri mereka sendiri di dalam gua. Panggillah tukang-tukang batu supaya mereka segera datang ke mari!” Setelah tukang-tukang batu itu tiba, mereka diperintahkan menutup rapat pintu gua dengan batu-batu dan jish (bahan semacam semen). Selesai dikerjakan, raja berkata kepada para pengikutnya: “Katakanlah kepada mereka yang ada di dalam gua, kalau benar-benar mereka itu tidak berdusta supaya minta tolong kepada Tuhan mereka yang ada di langit, agar mereka dikeluarkan dari tempat itu.” Dalam goa tertutup rapat itu, mereka tinggal selama 309 tahun. Setelah masa yang amat panjang itu lampau, Allah s.w.t. mengembalikan lagi nyawa mereka. Pada saat matahari sudah mulai memancarkan sinar, mereka merasa seakan-akan baru bangun dari tidurnya masing-masing. Yang seorang berkata kepada yang lainnya: “Malam tadi kami lupa beribadah kepada Allah, mari kita pergi ke mata air!” Setelah mereka berada di luar gua, tiba-tiba mereka lihat mata air itu sudah mengering kembali dan pepohonan yang ada pun sudah menjadi kering semuanya. Allah s.w.t. membuat mereka mulai merasa lapar. Mereka saling bertanya: “Siapakah di antara kita ini yang sanggup dan bersedia berangkat ke kota membawa uang untuk bisa mendapatkan makanan? Tetapi yang akan pergi ke kota nanti supaya hati-hati benar, jangan sampai membeli makanan yang dimasak dengan lemak-babi.” Tamlikha kemudian berkata: “Hai saudara-saudara, aku sajalah yang berangkat untuk mendapatkan makanan. Tetapi, hai penggembala, berikanlah bajumu kepadaku dan ambillah bajuku ini!” Setelah Tamlikha memakai baju penggembala, ia berangkat menuju ke kota. Sepanjang jalan ia melewati tempat-tempat yang sama sekali belum pernah dikenalnya, melalui jalan-jalan yang belum pernah diketahui. Setibanya dekat pintu gerbang kota, ia melihat bendera hijau berkibar di angkasa bertuliskan: “Tiada Tuhan selain Allah dan Isa adalah Roh Allah.” Tamlikha berhenti sejenak memandang bendera itu sambil mengusap-usap mata, lalu berkata seorang diri: “Kusangka aku ini masih tidur!” Setelah agak lama memandang dan mengamat-amati bendera, ia meneruskan perjalanan memasuki kota. Dilihatnya banyak orang sedang membaca Injil. Ia berpapasan dengan orang-orang yang belum pernah dikenal. Setibanya di sebuah pasar ia bertanya kepada seorang penjaja roti: “Hai tukang roti, apakah nama kota kalian ini?” “Aphesus,” sahut penjual roti itu. “Siapakah nama raja kalian?” tanya Tamlikha lagi. “Abdurrahman, ” jawab penjual roti. “Kalau yang kau katakan itu benar,” kata Tamlikha, “urusanku ini sungguh aneh sekali! Ambillah uang ini dan berilah makanan kepadaku!” Melihat uang itu, penjual roti keheran-heranan. Karena uang yang dibawa Tamlikha itu uang zaman lampau, yang ukurannya lebih besar dan lebih berat. Pendeta Yahudi yang bertanya itu kemudian berdiri lagi, lalu berkata kepada Ali bin Abi Thalib: “Hai Ali, kalau benar-benar engkau mengetahui, coba terangkan kepadaku berapa nilai uang lama itu dibanding dengan uang baru!” Imam Ali menerangkan: “Kekasihku Muhammad Rasul Allah s.a.w. menceritakan kepadaku, bahwa uang yang dibawa oleh Tamlikha dibanding dengan uang baru, ialah tiap dirham lama sama dengan sepuluh dan dua pertiga dirham baru!”ashabul-kahfi-16 Imam Ali kemudian melanjutkan ceritanya: Penjual Roti lalu berkata kepada Tamlikha: “Aduhai, alangkah beruntungnya aku! Rupanya engkau baru menemukan harta karun! Berikan sisa uang itu kepadaku! Kalau tidak, engkau akan ku hadapkan kepada raja!” “Aku tidak menemukan harta karun,” sangkal Tamlikha. “Uang ini ku dapat tiga hari yang lalu dari hasil penjualan buah kurma seharga tiga dirham! Aku kemudian meninggalkan kota karena orang-orang semuanya menyembah Diqyanius!” Penjual roti itu marah. Lalu berkata: “Apakah setelah engkau menemukan harta karun masih juga tidak rela menyerahkan sisa uangmu itu kepadaku? Lagi pula engkau telah menyebut-nyebut seorang raja durhaka yangmengaku diri sebagai tuhan, padahal raja itu sudah mati lebih dari 300 tahun yang silam! Apakah dengan begitu engkau hendak memperolok-olok aku?” Tamlikha lalu ditangkap. Kemudian dibawa pergi menghadap raja. Raja yang baru ini seorang yang dapat berfikir dan bersikap adil. Raja bertanya kepada orang-orang yang membawa Tamlikha: “Bagaimana cerita tentang orang ini?” “Dia menemukan harta karun,” jawab orang-orang yang membawanya. Kepada Tamlikha, raja berkata: “Engkau tak perlu takut! Nabi Isa a.s. memerintahkan supaya kami hanya memungut seperlima saja dari harta karun itu. Serahkanlah yang seperlima itu kepadaku, dan selanjutnya engkau akan selamat.” Tamlikha menjawab: “Baginda, aku sama sekali tidak menemukan harta karun! Aku adalah penduduk kota ini!” Raja bertanya sambil keheran-heranan: “Engkau penduduk kota ini?” “Ya. Benar,” sahut Tamlikha. “Adakah orang yang kau kenal?” tanya raja lagi. “Ya, ada,” jawab Tamlikha. “Coba sebutkan siapa namanya,” perintah raja. Tamlikha menyebut nama-nama kurang lebih 1000 orang, tetapi tak ada satu nama pun yang dikenal oleh raja atau oleh orang lain yang hadir mendengarkan. Mereka berkata: “Ah…, semua itu bukan nama orang-orang yang hidup di zaman kita sekarang. Tetapi, apakah engkau mempunyai rumah di kota ini?” “Ya, tuanku,” jawab Tamlikha. “Utuslah seorang menyertai aku!” Raja kemudian memerintahkan beberapa orang menyertai Tamlikha pergi. Oleh Tamlikha mereka diajak menuju ke sebuah rumah yang paling tinggi di kota itu. Setibanya di sana, Tamlikha berkata kepada orang yang mengantarkan: “Inilah rumahku!” Pintu rumah itu lalu diketuk. Keluarlah seorang lelaki yang sudah sangat lanjut usia. Sepasang alis di bawah keningnya sudah sedemikian putih dan mengkerut hampir menutupi mata karena sudah terlampau tua. Ia terperanjat ketakutan, lalu bertanya kepada orang-orang yang datang: “Kalian ada perlu apa?” Utusan raja yang menyertai Tamlikha menyahut: “Orang muda ini mengaku rumah ini adalah rumahnya!” Orang tua itu marah, memandang kepada Tamlikha. Sambil mengamat-amati ia bertanya: “Siapa namamu?” “Aku Tamlikha anak Filistin!” Orang tua itu lalu berkata: “Coba ulangi lagi!” Tamlikha menyebut lagi namanya. Tiba-tiba orang tua itu bertekuk lutut di depan kaki Tamlikha sambil berucap: “Ini adalah datukku! Demi Allah, ia salah seorang di antara orang-orang yang melarikan diri dari Diqyanius, raja durhaka.” Kemudian diteruskannya dengan suara haru: “Ia lari berlindung kepada Yang Maha Perkasa, Pencipta langit dan bumi. Nabi kita, Isa as., dahulu telah memberitahukan kisah mereka kepada kita dan mengatakan bahwa mereka itu akan hidup kembali!” Peristiwa yang terjadi di rumah orang tua itu kemudian di laporkan kepada raja. Dengan menunggang kuda, raja segera datang menuju ke tempat Tamlikha yang sedang berada di rumah orang tua tadi. Setelah melihat Tamlikha, raja segera turun dari kuda. Oleh raja Tamlikha diangkat ke atas pundak, sedangkan orang banyak beramai-ramai menciumi tangan dan kaki Tamlikha sambil bertanya-tanya: “Hai Tamlikha, bagaimana keadaan teman-temanmu? “ Kepada mereka Tamlikha memberi tahu, bahwa semua temannya masih berada di dalam gua. “Pada masa itu kota Aphesus diurus oleh dua orang bangsawan istana. Seorang beragama Islam dan seorang lainnya lagi beragama Nasrani. Dua orang bangsawan itu bersama pengikutnya masing-masing pergi membawa Tamlikha menuju ke gua,” demikian Imam Ali melanjutkan ceritanya. Teman-teman Tamlikha semuanya masih berada di dalam gua itu. Setibanya dekat gua, Tamlikha berkata kepada dua orang bangsawan dan para pengikut mereka: “Aku khawatir kalau sampai teman-temanku mendengar suara tapak kuda, atau gemerincingnya senjata. Mereka pasti menduga Diqyanius datang dan mereka bakal mati semua. Oleh karena itu kalian berhenti saja di sini. Biarlah aku sendiri yang akan menemui dan memberitahu mereka!” Semua berhenti menunggu dan Tamlikha masuk seorang diri ke dalam gua. Melihat Tamlikha datang, teman-temannya berdiri kegirangan, dan Tamlikha dipeluknya kuat-kuat. Kepada Tamlikha mereka berkata: “Puji dan syukur bagi Allah yang telah menyelamatkan dirimu dari Diqyanius!” Tamlikha menukas: “Ada urusan apa dengan Diqyanius? Tahukah kalian, sudah berapa lamakah kalian tinggal di sini?” “Kami tinggal sehari atau beberapa hari saja,” jawab mereka. “Tidak!” sangkal Tamlikha. “Kalian sudah tinggal di sini selama 309 tahun! Diqyanius sudah lama meninggal dunia! Generasi demi generasi sudah lewat silih berganti, dan penduduk kota itu sudah beriman kepada Allah yang Maha Agung! Lalu memerintahkan Malaikat maut mencabut kembali nyawa mereka. Kemudian Allah s.w.t. melenyapkan pintu gua tanpa bekas. Dua orang bangsawan yang menunggu-nunggu segera maju mendekati gua, berputar-putar selama tujuh hari untuk mencari-cari pintunya, tetapi tanpa hasil. Tak dapat ditemukan lubang atau jalan masuk lainnya ke dalam gua. Pada saat itu dua orang bangsawan tadi menjadi yakin tentang betapa hebatnya kekuasaan Allah s.w.t. Dua orang bangsawan itu memandang semua peristiwa yang dialami oleh para penghuni gua, sebagai peringatan yang diperlihatkan Allah kepada mereka. Bangsawan yang beragama Islam lalu berkata: “Mereka mati dalam keadaan memeluk agamaku! Akan ku dirikan sebuah tempat ibadah di pintu gua itu.” Sedang bangsawan yang beragama Nasrani berkata pula: “Mereka mati dalam keadaan memeluk agamaku! Akan ku dirikan sebuah biara di pintu gua itu.” Dua orang bangsawan itu bertengkar, dan setelah melalui pertikaian senjata, akhirnya bangsawan Nasrani terkalahkan oleh bangsawan yang beragama Islam. Dengan terjadinya peristiwa tersebut, maka Allah berfirman: Dan begitulah Kami menyerempakkan mereka, supaya mereka mengetahui bahawa janji Allah adalah benar, dan bahawa Saat itu tidak ada keraguan padanya. Demi Allah, sekarang aku hendak bertanya kepadamu, apakah semua yang ku ceritakan itu sesuai dengan apa yang tercantum dalam Taurat kalian?” Pendeta Yahudi itu menjawab: “Ya Abal Hasan, engkau tidak menambah dan tidak mengurangi, walau satu huruf pun! Sekarang engkau jangan menyebut diriku sebagai orang Yahudi, sebab aku telah bersaksi bahwa tiada tuhan selain Allah dan bahwa Muhammad adalah hamba Allah serta Rasul-Nya. For the avoidance of doubt,the latter part of God's Law(No.7-10),is hinged on it...its summarised message being,*our need to be very mindful of fellow man,*to treat others like we desire to be treated. The FIRST REQUIREMENT of course,(No.1-6),is our avowed unsolicited obligatory duties to our awesomely Jealous FATHER *JEHOVAH* God's dealing with Man right from the onset,is replete with His apparently unwavering determination that we must be on the lookout for one another. In Genesis 4:9,where the term *Brother's keeper* has its foundation,God asked Cain of his brother, Abel's whereabouts. And Cain while shelving responsibility begat the now popular phrase "Am I my brother's keeper?" And to emphasize HIS DISPLEASURE, God placed a curse on Cain in the vs 10-11,for failing to lookout for his brother. In Eze.22:30,God was apparently dissatisfied when He sought for a Man [Brother's keeper] to stand in the gap for Israel, and finding none,was compelled to spit the consequences of His wroth on them. HE cares so much about our being responsible for one another,(the only way we can significantly shut devil up,in his campaign against Man's well being). Consider this incident between our Lord Christ Jesus and fiery Peter. 31. And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32. It won't take anything from you,if you relinquish them for the sake of the aforementioned... without having to be begged first. 👉In your environment,there are those finding it difficult to afford just a meal a day. Meanwhile,your trashcan is a faithful *Keeper of throwaway food*. It will not cost you a thing to deny or relieve your trashcan off its duties and put a smile on some persons faces. You don't even have to wait until you get what to throw away. 👉How about the *many homeless* because of house rents inaffordability, either those you saw yourself or those you were told of, you may not have an estate,but you know in your heart of hearts,that you can do something,if you choose to...why are you waiting...go ahead and do it. 👉 Haven't you seen school age and older children hawking through our towns and cities, because of school fees and poor parentage? What prevents you from taking a closer interest when you know you can pull one or two strings! 👉Mr CEO,what about some cars in your garage,that haven't been touched for years,except *regular warming* and yet, you scold your poorly paid staff,and probably deduct from the peanuts you pay them, because they came to work late because they have to trek ...as there's no workable transport allowance. 👉Of course the less privileged are always suppressed and oppressed,subjected to daily humiliations, because there's none to plead their CAUSE. Perhaps, you are an elite,in a position to right THINGS... what's keeping you from being their voice...is it the *It's not my business* academy? You can choose to come out and do something. Friedman argues the US should support Israel’s annexation “based first and foremost on biblical prophecies and values”, saying that such a policy “hearkens back to basic Judeo-Christian values of kindness, human dignity, humility and prosperity”. The aim of the administration’s public messages, according to one of the officials, was to allow the talks to continue, in the hope that a breakthrough might occur nonetheless. “It has no real connection to reality,” he said. President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and White House national security spokesman John Kirby repeat every few days that progress has been made in the talks, the gaps between Israel and Hamas can be bridged and an agreement is within reach, if both sides agree to compromise. Behind the scenes, however, the administration is well aware that the talks have reached an impasse due to Netanyahu’s insistence on the issue of the Philadelphi route, and it seems that both the prime minister and Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas and the organization’s top official in Gaza, are refusing to take the necessary steps to reach a deal at this time. “We want this agreement more than they do,” the American official said. Palestinians decried the move as an explicit annexation of the occupied territory by Tel Aviv.
