Chapel of Santa Luzia
Known for its peculiar architecture and the natural beauty of its surroundings, the Capela de Santa Luzia is located on the summit of a large rock at 935 meters of altitude, with a wide view of Pedra da Onça and the communities of Toma Vento and Alto de Santa Maria. There you can certainly enjoy a beautiful sunset, a true spectacle of nature.
Its historical and religious past has been present since the 20th century, since it was commissioned in 1936 by the Furlan, Passamaia and Zanotti families in order to replace a small wooden chapel built in devotion to Santa Luzia. The work was finally completed in 1946, with its entire structure built with stones.
The most traditional religious celebration takes place however on December 13th, Saint Lucia's day. It is located in the municipality of Itarana very close to the territorial limit with Santa Teresa. Access is by dirt road and has steep sections that require attention from drivers.
