Just wanted to share a msg from the ICON team:
As we approach the new year, I wanted to reflect a bit on the accomplishments that the ICON Foundation and our community achieved in ONLY a year. People forget we didn't even have DeFi until April of this year...
1) ICON Foundation adds 8 new employees to the internal team. 2) BTP partnerships announced with Polkadot/Kusama ecosystem (Moonbeam, Acala, Astar Network, Edgeware), Binance Smart Chain, Near Protocol, Harmony, Algorand, ICE/SNOW. (plus more coming soon)
3) ICON 2.0 mainnet upgrade introducing a new "Goloop" core blockchain engine, Java smart contract capabilities, and much more.
4) Contribution Proposal System (CPS) launches, bringing decentralized funding to the ICON ecosystem. CPS has already provided funding for 20 completed projects and 9 active projects, totaling over $500k. - Projects include Winible, Gangstabet, Karma, Wonderland, SuperNode Racing, ICON Web Studio, Token Score Factory, CODA and much more.
5) DeFi applications Balanced and Omm launch - with upcoming protocols Optimus and Equality coming soon. NFT marketplace Craft also launches.
6) IISS 3.1 implemented reducing overall network inflation by over 24%, reallocating 10% to CPS funding and introducing "bonding" for P-Reps.
7) ICE Blockchain and SNOW Canary Network announced, along with $ICY and $ICZ airdrop.
8) Introduction of HX57 Bounty Program to reward community members for producing high-quality content about ICON.
9) New icon.foundation website released.
10) ICON Discord officially released, along with the introduction of our community managers @arosh and @John. --- Thank you to our entire community for sticking with us through delays and for your contributions towards growing our ecosystem. We've come a long way, but we're just getting started. I have no doubt 2022 will be the biggest year yet for ICON! Looking forward to hyperconnecting the world in 2022.
