WWII and Korean War veteran honored in Prineville on 102nd birthday | Robbie Newport | NewsBreak Original
A special birthday was honored on Saturday, as U.S. Marine Corps veteran Jack Becker, family, and friends got together to celebrate his 102nd year alive. Born in 1922, Becker was in his younger twenties during WWII and in his late twenties and early 30s in the Korean War. In the Korean War, he was part of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir where over 1,000 Americans died, around 5,000 were wounded, and around 8,000 suffered frostbite -- the battle was fought in temperatures well below zero.
