Mallard ducks are the most common duck in North America and are found around the world. Males are bright while females are mostly brown. They eat at the water surface looking for bugs and plant matter. I am not the best at getting birds in flight and even though this photo is not sharp it is my best so far. This is a Dark Eyed Junco. They are a forest dwelling new world sparrow that has a seed specific diet and nest on the ground. There are many color variations of these critters depending on their geographic lactation. Some are all slate grey and others like this specimen that are grey and brown.
