CONTRASTING WORLDLY DESIRES WITH GODLY CONTENTMENT (PART 2)
We were trying to separate NEEDS FROM WANTS...the very weapon the devil has placed in the hands of those working for him.
IN THE OLD TESTAMENT, ALL NEEDS WERE MET,BUT THEY WANTED MORE. NO ONE CAN DENY THE ATROCITIES THE*WANTS* CAUSED. AND UPON CHRIST JESUS COMING TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT, MANY OF US ARE YET CHAINED TO SATAN... REMEMBER EVE;
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes (Gen.3.6a).
The tree has been there,it wasn't pleasant,but that day,she realized it was pleasant. THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING TO PASTORS (ANCIENT AND MODERN) that has kept them in the devil's cage, THAT HAS MADE TITHING TO BECOME AN ISSUE IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE. Some have accepted their fate, others are struggling.
I can tell you preachers now attach prosperity to God's approval while they teach that the poor are sinners;
5. Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6. But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. (1Ti 6: 5-7)
I SOMETIMES WONDER IF WE READ THE SAME BIBLE...OR THEY HAVE THEIR OWN;
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (2Pe 1: 20)
The Bible has no private interpretation. Since God said*NO* to this world,He decided to use it as a training ground, with the furious devil as His Tool to see who will decide for Him or the devil. It's the reason we're called Pilgrims on earth.
Thus,as Pilgrims, GOD MADE SURE OF THREE PROVISIONS IF WE WILL BE SATISFIED WITH THEM TO FOLLOW HIS WORD THAT HE IS LEADING US TO A BETTER PLACE. THE PROVISIONS ARE , FOOD, CLOTHING AND SHELTER. INDEED,THESE ARE THE THREE(3)BASIC NEEDS GOD OWES EVERY BELIEVER. EVERY OTHER THING IS A *WANT* WHICH HE IS EQUALLY READY TO GIVE TO YOU IF IT'S IN LINE WITH HIS WORD
You must have food to eat in the journey through the world.
You must have clothing.
You must have shelter (your own house)
Then as for*WANTS*,you need a car to ease transport, you are faithful and it won't lead you astray,He will give you. Your family becomes larger and needs another car where your wife needs to help drop and pick kids from school,it is a WANT,not a NEED, but He sees through you,it will help to serve Him better,He will give to you...Matt.6:25-33)...in the 32, Christ Jesus Himself said;
For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. (Mat 6: 32)
In effect, those who don't know God (unbelievers) fight for them. But as a believer,God knows you need them. NOW,THIS IS WERE THE GREEDINESS AND SELFISHNESS OF PROSPERITY PASTORS TOOK THEIR CLUE FROM...EG, CHRIST BECAME POOR THAT WE MIGHT BE RICH.
No Sir,God made provision for us to sail successfully through this world to a better place He has prepared for us. NOT ALL THIS PROMISES ARE FOR THIS DEVIL CONTROLLED WORLD. HE HAS A TIMELINE AFTER WHICH THOSE WHO CHOSE HIM OVER SATAN , DESPITE SATAN'S ATTEMPTS TO DISTRACT THEM WITH MODERN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY WILL BE FINALLY JUDGED WITH SATAN AND THIS WORLD DESTROYED BY FIRE;
7. But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (2Pe 3: 7-8)
10. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up
11. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12. Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent
13. Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. (2Pe 3: 10-13)
14. Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? 15. And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.
16. Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
17. And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth
him.
18. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not. (Mal 3: 14-18)
