    One of the reasons why I love simplicity, nature, and country side lifestyle. <br />
    <br />
    My parents have extreme green thumb. <i class="twa twa-deciduous-tree"></i><i class="twa twa-house-with-garden"></i> I am not exaggerating but even if my mom would just throw a seed of mango anywhere in our lot- it will grow. Hmmm. Maybe its our soil, I don't know. My mom also is into recyling, as you can see she uses plastic bottles and cups as pots for the plants. Currently she is into planting "Money Tree". and its everywhere!<br />
    <br />
    Let me share one of my foolishness as a child.<br />
    <br />
    One summer, my parents,me and my younger brother Jeff were planting vegetables in our backyard. I was assigned to plant Chilies🌢. What I did was I crushed them with my own bare hands to get the seeds out!!! <i class="twa twa-sign-of-the-horns"></i><i class="twa twa-grinning-squinting-face"></i> guess what, after sometime my hands started to bleed. <i class="twa twa-drop-of-blood"></i>. I started to cry <i class="twa twa-loudly-crying-face"></i> because it was painful but I just made it worse as I rubbed my eyes with my hands with Chili seeds in it and mate the pain was just excruciating!!! <i class="twa twa-rolling-on-the-floor-laughing"></i><i class="twa twa-face-with-tears-of-joy"></i> <br />
    <br />
    Moral of the story:<br />
    "Do not assign planting Chili to an 8 year old."<i class="twa twa-grinning-squinting-face"></i><i class="twa twa-smiling-face-with-halo"></i><br />

  • Before I knew I would get my hands on local quinoa seeds, I planted some bought directly from the market. You know how GMOs have changed the genetics so that future seeds will not be able to grow, yet out of hundreds of seeds, the resistance will always show it's strength. Here is a beautiful plant growing from market seeds, a testament to the power of Nature.

  • This is the dish that my son and I prepared today. Simple but wholesome ingredients like roasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds, roasted walnuts, zucchini, spring onion, garlic, eggs, a variety of spices, and a lot of love go into making this dish. After 35 minutes in the oven, the outcome was incredibly tasty and greatly enjoyed by all of us.
    Happy Saturday everyone!

  • This is a squirting cucumber, so called because of its ability to launch its seeds in a stream of mucilaginous liquid, up to 6 metres away.
    Such dispersal avoids plants competing in close proximity for resources

  • #Alfalfa is mostly known as feed for livestock, which is why I wasn't surprised to find it growing wild at #WarsingDam in #NorthDakota. It's also super nutritious for us as well and is considered a #SuperFood, because of the high levels of essential nutrients and fiber it provides and it's loaded with powerful #antioxidants.

    Because it's so popular as cow or horse feed, many would never guess it blesses us with these beautiful blooms. Every part of the plant above the ground can be eaten or steeped into a tea and the seeds can be ground and mixed in with flour to heighten the nutritional profile.

  • Hemp seeds or hemp seed oil are all great options to obtain omega-3s. Hemp seeds and oil provide omega-3 and omega-6 in the ideal balance, making hemp food products a great option for increasing omega-3 intake.

  • Crypto is great and all, I believe in it's purpose and I'm obviously here because I enjoy it's benefits. However, before money and before crypto, seeds were a form of currency and this has been forgotten. With the forgetting of seeds came the loss of diversity, leading to weaker plants that demand higher usage of pesticides and other agrochemicals. The consequences of this manifest in the human immune system as well and show up in the increase of chronic disease on the population. It's all a web, all is connected. Enjoy crypto but remember the seed.

  • This was the first time I've seen this beauty and it obviously caught my attention right away. It is in the Daisy Family, so each petal is actually a separate flower. I found this one while #boondocking at the #MerrittReservoirSRA in the #Nebraska #Sandhills. The Sandhills have a cool make-up, because it resembles both rolling #Prairy and a High desert rolled into one.

    The #IndianBlanketFlower or #GaillardiaPulchella goes by many names, my favorite being 'Firewheel'. The only parts of the #Firewheel considered #edible are the seeds, which can be dried and ground into a seed butter. That being said, it's the oil of the plant itself from all the parts that have #medicinal properties.

    Traditionally it was used by #NativeAmericans to treat tender nipples from breastfeeding and taken internally as a tea for urinary tract issues. A scientific analysis of the oil show it may be used to treat parasites, has #antitumoral properties, it's cytotoxic meaning it may kill living cells(a good thing when treating cancers) and shows promise as a natural antioxidant, according to The Journal of Oleo Science.

    It's native to the #Midwest and the Kiowa Tribe consider it to be a sign of good luck. They are choice for #pollinators like bees and butterflies and make for a beautiful ornamental landscaping flower. It's also #Oklahoma's #StateFlower. I think the next time we are out there I'll have AlphaHippie harvest some for the seeds. Then we'll start them with the rest of the plants we cultivate in our #garden each Spring.

    It is high in vitamin C: Kale is also a good source of vitamin C, with one cup providing over 200% of the daily recommended value. Vitamin C is important for immune function and skin health.

    It is high in fiber: Kale is a good source of fiber, with one cup providing about 10% of the daily recommended value. Fiber is important for digestive health and may also help lower cholesterol levels.

    It is high in calcium: Kale is a good source of calcium, with one cup providing about 10% of the daily recommended value. Calcium is important for bone health and muscle function.

    It may have anti-inflammatory properties: Some studies have found that kale and other leafy greens may have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be beneficial for conditions such as arthritis and asthma.
