THAT I MAY KNOW HIM (Phil. 3:10)!

BRIDLING OUR TONGUES::A NECESSITY FOR SURVIVAL, NOW MORE THAN EVER{JAS.3:1-12}!

I respect you all out there,who continue to surrender yourselves for God's usage to inspire me.Remain blessed,as I ask of the Holy Spirit to empower us in understanding, discerning and utilizing the eternal life giving TRUTH found only in HIS WORD,in our daily lives,Amen!
The verses 7-8 of our key verse above says*For every kind of beasts,and of birds and of serpents, and of things in the sea,is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:: But the TONGUE can no man tame; it's an unruly evil full of deadly poison*.
Without fear of contradiction, the wrong usage of the TONGUE has triggered wars,internal conflicts, divorces,poverty,crumbling of businesses, and even self-assasination(suicide)!
It's also true that in relatively few instances,it has brought hope to many a man,when it was used well!
The TONGUE remains one of the viable places where Satan lays his traps, because in quite a lot of cases,the TONGUE is fed by EGO(pride)!
It will be no exaggeration,if I depose that between 70-80% of the challenges we face as a people (nation),stems from the wrong use of our tongues. The tongue is so powerful that,life and death is in its power.
We have tamed dogs,snakes, elephants,birds, monkeys, fishes,infact every kind of known living things has been tamed by man to obey him. But no man has been able to tame his tongue! It's about the smallest part of our body,yet it's the most powerful. If we must succeed in life and cultivate peace in our environs,we must learn to restrain the use of our tongues. For instance,the overheated polity we are witnessing today,was mostly caused by the sensitive and insensitive comments flying in the media space...most of which are deliberate provocation from allegations and counter allegations.
Yet till now,we haven't still realize the havoc an unruly tongue can wreck on us. From today's passage,we are introduced into the many evils of an unguarded tongue;;
(1)It utters devouring words{Ps.52:2-4}
(2) It's full of deceits and craftiness {Job 15:5}
(3)It tells lies and commits sins{Pro.17:4}
(4)It flatters and back bites{5:9}
(5)It talks too much{Jer.18:18,Pro.25:23}
(6) It's reckless and unguarded.
(7)The devil is in charge of every unbridled tongue.
(8) Unbridled tongue kills and destroys.
(9) Unbridled tongue defiles a man.
(10)It is evil in the sight of God.
Rom.3:13,Matt.15:18-20.
Looking at us today as believers, unbelievers,and as a nation,can we truthfully say,we aren't seeing the above listed character flaws in our lives? If your answer is in the affirmative,which I believe should be your answer,how can we peace then!
Any of our wrong utterances can bring destruction,create problems for us,can bring to us untimely death,can earn us judgement instead of favour, even as believers,it can deny us answers to our prayers. It's no wonder then,when Solomon said....the tongue of the froward shall be cut out..Pro.10:31!
Here is another thing Solomon said,when equating wealth and tongue (Pro.21:6)"The getting of treasures (riches) by a LYING TONGUE is a VANITY tossed to and fro of them that seek DEATH!
I bet you remember,that Joseph's tongue got him into trouble,by revealing his dreams to his brothers, again,he had to spend extra two years in jail,when with his tongue he expressed confidence in the butler(man),when he begged him to tell Pharoah about him.
We equally remembered the incidence of Peter's tongue being used by Satan to distract CHRIST JESUS from the Cross... don't forget also that Peter was a talkative.
Coming home,we saw what unguarded utterances have done to God's shepherds,the most recent being Apostle Johnson Suleman among many others!
Many issues that seemed to defy solution in our lives can or maybe linked to our unguarded utterances, CHRIST JESUS says in Matt.12:36,that every IDLE WORD(from our tongues)shall be judged!
Scary... isn't it...but that's God's Word for us! That's why Paul asked us in Colo.4:6, to season our tongues with salt.
Yet,we ain't hopeless. Because,if we surrender our unbridled tongues to CHRIST JESUS,HE is more than willing to heal them for us..Has.3:2. Thus,even right this moment,as we read this,we can try recollect all words unfitly spoken by us, and request them to be washed away by the BLOOD of CHRIST JESUS, Amen!
May God bless us richly, and[HIS] purposefully direct us in this race towards the perfect man, in Christ Jesus Name I pray Amen!!!
