These locals are journalists, NGOs, and even civil servants and politicians who try to leverage public opinion in the favour of their foreign principals. Areas of interest and persuasion include political issues, foreign policy positions, or gaining lucrative commercial contracts from government. This is happening in Malaysia on a massive scale and is almost invisible to the ordinary Malaysian, as a local identity is used as a front. Two good examples have occurred within the last week. Putting out the names for PMXI With the massive increase of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Malaysian politics, there is a view that the current prime minister Anwar Ibrahim should be followed by a prime minister who is totally loyal to the WEF cause. Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz is their man. Tengku Zafrul has been very active within the WEF over recent years, and drastically increased WEF influence into Malaysia over his tenure as a minister of the government. Another WEF stalwart Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also considered to be future PM material for the WEF, is using his radio program Keluar Sekejap to put Tengku Zafrul’s name out there and pitch for him. https://twitter.com/i/status/1747927543569858714 This approach is aimed at winning the hearts and minds of Malaysians towards Tengku Zafrul as the next prime minister, given future events favour his rise. Expect more positive talk about Tengku Zafrul to come in the near future. WEF insiders have compared the strengths and weaknesses of both Anwar Ibrahim and Tengku Zafrul, where Tengku comes out far on top. He is especially appealing to the WEF elite because of his royal linkages and persona with the international community. Miti banks on Davos meet to attract right investments Pressuring the health minister to order monovalent XBB.1.5 vaccines The new minister of health Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad has reframed from ordering the very expensive new monovalent XBB.1.5 vaccines in preference to running down the existing high stock levels held by the ministry of health. This action would save the MOH millions of Ringgit. The well-known pro-big pharma mouthpiece Code Blue in an article written by Boo Su-Lyn stated that the MOH was acting against recommendations issued by the World Health Organization (WHO). Boo Su-Lyn wrote; “Malaysia’s Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed that the only Covid-19 vaccine available in the country is Sinovac that targets the original strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus; no recommendations were made for a fifth dose, or third booster jab. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommended last December 13 the use of monovalent XBB.1.5 vaccines across different platforms against currently circulating variants”. In addition, Boo Su-Lyn inferred that Malaysia was providing poorer health care to its citizens, stating that “Countries like Singapore, the United States, and even Hong Kong have already rolled out the new monovalent XBB.1.5 mRNA vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna for 2023/ 2024 that target the Omicron variant, XBB.1.5.” Code Blue’s article is a subtle attempt to influence local medical opinion and the minister to make a decision to purchase more mRNA vaccines. Putin Weighs In on the Syrian Situation Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his Results of the Year annual marathon year-ender interactive televised discussion with the Russian public and the media in Moscow on December 19, spoke at some length on the recent developments in Syria. These were Putin’s first public remarks on the topic and, coming 12 days after armed opposition forces seized Damascus and the exile of former president Bashar al-Assad and his family in Moscow, they signified that the Kremlin is recalibrating its compass of West Asian strategies. Putin disclosed that he will soon have a meeting with Assad, signalling a level of transparency that is very rare in international diplomacy in comparable volatile circumstances. We still do not know, for instance, what happened to Afghan president Ashraf Ghani after the Taliban takeover four years ago, or whether President Joe Biden even showed the courtesy to receive America’s fallen ally — and an erstwhile proxy at that. Putin sees no reason to feel ashamed or petrified over the regime change in Syria. Russia’s mission in Syria was to decimate the US-sponsored extremist groups destabilising that country and the region as part of a regime change project. And that enterprise has been hugely successful as Russia inflicted a crushing defeat to the American project. The Russian mission in Syria never had a hidden agenda to prop up the Syrian regime. As Putin explained, Russian ground forces were never deployed or involved in the fighting in Syria. The speed with which Assad was given asylum in Moscow and the peaceful transfer of power in Damascus hinted that the Kremlin was not taken by surprise. Again, compare the chaotic and desperate US evacuation on August 16, 2021 from Kabul airport with Afghans falling from the sky as American military planes took off. Yet, western propaganda is painting the town red that Russia has been “defeated” in Syria! The narrative by Turkish foreign minister Hakan Fidan seems entirely plausible when he claimed that at Ankara’s urging, Moscow and Tehran counselled Assad to peacefully transfer power. Fidan disclosed to NTV broadcaster on Dec. 13, “We spoke with the Russians and Iranians and told them that the man they had invested in was no longer someone worth investing in. They made one phone call, and that evening Assad was gone.” Putin openly acknowledged that Russia keeps contacts with the HTS and their conversation will have a bearing on the fate of the bases in Latakia. Russia is offering that the international community may use the bases to handle humanitarian assistance to Syria. Conceivably, Turkey, Russia and Iran synchronised their watches. Tehran disclosed in the weekend that it is reopening the embassy in Damascus and that the HTS has offered to provide security for the mission’s functioning. Through the entire three-and-a-half hour event in Moscow last Thursday, Putin never once voiced any criticism of Turkey’s backing for HTS or questioned the legitimacy of Ankara’s stated concerns in the Syrian situation — although he remains sceptical whether the Kurdish nationality question involving 30-35 million ethnic Kurdish population spread over Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran lends itself to a solution. Putin asserted that Moscow has already conveyed to the HTS as well as the regional states that the Russian bases are “capable of offering assistance… (and) this was met with understanding and a willingness to collaborate.” Putin stressed: “An overwhelming majority of them have expressed interest in retaining our military bases in Syria.” Putin ridiculed the Biden administration’s prognosis that Russia faces “defeat” in Syria. His broad message was that “there will be plenty to discuss” with Trump when they meet, implying that Biden Administration is no longer consequential to Syria’s future. The Biden Administration’s efforts to rally the Arab states have failed to gain traction as the trust deficit is formidable. Arabs suspect that the US’ continued illegal occupation has ulterior motives. Indeed, a new matrix is appearing, as Biden administration’s obsession shifts to creating a quagmire in the Middle East for the incoming Trump administration. In a somersault on Sunday, the US state department’s Assistant Secretary Barbara Leaf landed in Damascus to personally convey the US decision to scrap the $10 million reward for the arrest of HTS leader (Syria’s de facto leader) Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, following what she claimed to be “very productive” meetings with the group’s representatives. This abject surrender will now enable Washington to lift the sanctions against Syria per the infamous Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act of 2019. However, Russia has outmanoeuvred the Biden administration in Syria. Putin implied that a working relationship with the new leadership in Damascus is steadily developing. He said, “I do not know, we must reflect on how our relations will evolve with the political forces currently in control (in Damascus) and those that will govern this country in the future –- our interests must align. Should we remain, we must act in the interests of the host nation.” Putin noted: “What will those interests entail? What can we do for them? These questions demand careful consideration on both sides. We are already capable of offering assistance, including utilising our bases… while challenges remain, our position firmly aligns with international law and the sovereignty of all nations, including respect for Syria’s territorial integrity. This extends to supporting the stance of the current authorities governing the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic. In this regard, we stand with them.” This is a big statement and it will resonate across the Arab world. Make no mistake, Russia’s transition from the Assad era is well under way. The contours of a pragmatic policy approach are emerging. Russian intelligence would have done the spade work in this transition. Putin remarked tauntingly that “the groups that were fighting against the Assad regime and the government forces back then have undergone internal changes. It is not surprising that many European countries and the United States are trying to develop relations with them now. Would they be doing this if they were terrorist organisations? This means that they have changed, doesn’t it? So, our goal (Russia’s intervention in Syria in 2015) has been achieved, to a certain degree.” From behind the scene, Turkey is tacitly encouraging Russia’s partnership with HTS. Significantly, Putin dwelt on the ramifications of the Kurdish problem where Turkey may need Russia’s cooperation to navigate the tricky pathway going forward. Turkey’s concerns have four main templates: one, ensure Turkey’s border security with Syria; two, create conditions for the return of Syrian refugees from Turkey; three, push Syrian Kurdish forces away from the border regions; and, four, counter the covert European and US-Israeli support for an independent Kurdish state. Putin underscored “the gravity of the Kurdish issue.” There is no conflict of interests here between Turkey and Russia. While Putin spoke with understanding and some sympathy for Turkey’s legitimate concerns, he did not mince words to condemn Israel’s naked land grab in Syria. In his words, “I believe that the main beneficiary of the developments in Syria is Israel… In the Golan Heights, Israel has advanced along the front by 62–63 kilometres and to a depth of 20–25 kilometres. They have occupied fortifications originally built for Syria by the Soviet Union, strong defensive structures comparable to the Maginot Line. “It seems there are already several thousand (Israeli) personnel stationed there. It appears not only that they have no intention of leaving, but they may also be planning to further reinforce their presence.” Putin warned that “further complications down the line” are to be expected, as the Israeli occupation could “ultimately result in the fragmentation of Syria.” In this regard, Russia shares the same perception as Turkey, Iran and the Arab states. Interestingly, Putin exuded confidence that Russia is on the right side of history with a policy reset that aims to harmonise with Turkey and Iran as well as the Arab states. Indeed, this diplomatic feat enhances Russia’s standing in West Asia. Conversely, to retrench or not in Syria — that’s the question that will haunt the Trump presidency. The Pentagon is already pushing back against Trump’s statement “we have nothing to do (in Syria).” Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder has revealed that US troop numbers in Syria have reached 2,000 –- more than double the previously reported nine hundred. (This Text below is an excerpt from Michel Chossudovsky’s book, August 2022) The Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test by Michel Chossudovsky The RT-PCR test has been used worldwide to generate millions of erroneous “COVID-19 confirmed cases”, which are then used to sustain the illusion that the alleged pandemic is real. This assessment based on erroneous numbers has been used in the course of three and and a half years to spearhead and sustain the fear campaign. “Confirmed” is a misnomer. A “confirmed RT-PCR positive case” does not imply a “COVID-19 confirmed case”. “Positive RT-PCR is not synonymous with the COVID-19 disease! PCR specialists make it clear that a test must always be compared with the clinical record of the patient being tested, with the patient’s state of health to confirm its value [reliability]. (Dr. Pascal Sacré) The procedure used by the national health authorities is to categorize all RT-PCR positive cases as “COVID-19 confirmed cases” (with or without a medical diagnosis). Ironically, this routine process of identifying “confirmed cases” is in derogation of the CDC’s own guidelines: “Detection of viral RNA may not indicate the presence of infectious virus or that 2019-nCoV is the causative agent for clinical symptoms. The performance of this test has not been established for monitoring treatment of 2019-nCoV infection. This test cannot rule out diseases caused by other bacterial or viral pathogens.” (emphasis added) The methodology used to detect and estimate the spread of the virus is flawed and invalid. False Positives The earlier debate at the outset of the crisis focused on the issue of “false positives.” Acknowledged by the WHO and the CDC, the RT-PCR test was known to produce a high percentage of false positives. According to Dr. Pascal Sacré: “Today, as authorities test more people, there are bound to be more positive RT-PCR tests. This does not mean that COVID-19 is coming back, or that the epidemic is moving in waves. There are more people being tested, that’s all.” The debate on false positives (acknowledged by health authorities) points to so-called errors without necessarily questioning the overall validity of the RT-PCR test as a means to detecting the alleged spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The PCR Test Does Not Detect the Identity of the Virus The RT-PCR test does not identify/detect the virus. What the PCR test identifies are genetic fragments of numerous viruses (including influenza viruses types A and B and coronaviruses which trigger common colds). The results of the RT-PCR test cannot “confirm” whether an individual who undertakes the test is infected with SARS-CoV-2. Failures of the PCR Test, Ridiculously Low Numbers Even if the 2019 nCoV had been detected and duly identified, the numbers of PCR-RT confirmed (cumulative) positive cases in the period leading up to to March 11, 2020 used as a justification to enforce the Lockdown of more than 190 countries were ridiculously low. The 80,981 cases for China also pertains to confirmed (cumulative) PCR positive cases. The official text of the WHO entitled “Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) Technologies that Use Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for Detection of SARS-CoV-2″ is featured in the Annex below. The WHO’s Mea Culpa by Michel Chossudovsky WHO guidance Diagnostic testing for SARS-CoV-2 states that careful interpretation of weak positive results is needed (1). The cycle threshold (Ct) needed to detect virus is inversely proportional to the patient’s viral load. Where test results do not correspond with the clinical presentation, a new specimen should be taken and retested using the same or different NAT technology. (emphasis added) WHO reminds IVD users that disease prevalence alters the predictive value of test results; as disease prevalence decreases, the risk of false positive increases (2). This means that the probability that a person who has a positive result (SARS-CoV-2 detected) is truly infected with SARS-CoV-2 decreases as prevalence decreases, irrespective of the claimed specificity.” “Invalid Positives” is the Underlying Concept This is not an issue of “Weak Positives” and “Risk of False Positive Increases”. What is at stake is a “Flawed Methodology” which leads to invalid estimates. What this admission of the WHO confirms is that the estimate of covid positive from a PCR test (with an amplification threshold of 35 cycles or higher) is invalid. In which case, the WHO recommends retesting: “a new specimen should be taken and retested…”. The WHO calls for “Retesting”, which is tantamount to “We Screwed Up”. That recommendation is pro-forma. It won’t happen. Millions of people Worldwide have already been tested, starting in early February 2020. Nonetheless, we must conclude that unless retested, those estimates (according to the WHO) are invalid. From the outset, the PCR test has routinely been applied at a Ct amplification threshold of 35 or higher, following the January 2020 recommendations of the WHO. What this means is that the PCR methodology as applied Worldwide has led to the compilation of faulty and misleading Covid statistics. And these are the statistics which are used to measure the progression of the so-called “pandemic”. Above an amplification cycle of 35 or higher, the test will not detect fragments of the virus. Therefore, the official “covid numbers” are meaningless. It follows that there is no scientific basis for confirming the existence of a pandemic. Which in turn means that the lockdown / economic measures which have resulted in social panic, mass poverty and unemployment (allegedly to curtail the spread of the virus) have no justification whatsoever. According to scientific opinion: “if someone is tested by PCR as positive when a threshold of 35 cycles or higher is used (as is the case in most laboratories in Europe & the US), the probability that said person is actually infected is less than 3%, the probability that said result is a false positive is 97% (Pieter Borger, Bobby Rajesh Malhotra, Michael Yeadon, Clare Craig, Kevin McKernan, et al, Critique of Drosten Study) As outlined above, “the probability that said result is a false positive is 97%”: It follows that using the >35 cycles detection will indelibly contribute to “hiking up” the number of “fake positives”. At the time of writing (mid-March 2021), despite the WHO retraction, the PCR test is being used extensively to hike up the numbers with a view to sustaining the fear campaign, justifying the ongoing lockdown policies as well as the implementation of the Covid vaccine. Ironically, the flawed numbers based on “invalid positives” are in turn being manipulated to ensure an upward trend in so-called “Confirmed Covid -19 Cases”. Moreover, those PCR tests are not routinely accompanied by a medical diagnosis of the patients who are being tested. And now, national health authorities have issued (fake) warnings of a “Third Wave” as part of their propaganda campaign in support of the Covid-19 Vaccine. The WHO confirms that the Covid PCR test procedure as applied is invalid. There is absolutely no scientific basis for implementing the Covid Vaccine. Both the WHO and the scientific assessment of Pieter Borger, et al (quoted above) confirm unequivocally that the tests adopted by governments to justify the lockdown and the destabilization of national economies are INVALID. Invalid Data and the Numbers’ Game It should be understood that these “invalid estimates” are the “numbers” quoted relentlessly 24/7 by the media which have been used to feed the fear campaign and “justify” ALL the policies put forth by the governments: lockdown, closure of economic activity, poverty and mass unemployment, bankruptcies social distancing, face mask, curfew, the vaccine. the health passport Invalid Data. Can Turkey be Trusted If It Joins BRICS? Officially, Turkey’s state ideology is secularism imposed by Ataturk a century ago. However, for all intents and purposes, Ankara’s driving force is an extremely volatile mix of Neo-Ottomanism, political Islam and pan-Turkism. Erdogan is doing everything in his power to spread and implement these all over the place, be it Southeast Europe, the Middle East, North Africa or Central Asia. Turkey is punching way above its weight in doing so, but its geostrategic position allows this (at least for the time being). Namely, Ankara is trying to play all sides it’s engaged with in order to achieve its megalomaniacal expansionist goals, but its NATO membership still makes it an asset of the political West. For years, I’ve been arguing that all the evidence suggests that Turkey is one of NATO’s “Trojan horses” and that its policies undermine regional stability, particularly in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, where Ankara is using its resources to radicalize young populations, resulting in a massive increase in the number of terrorists who join ISIS and other similar NATO-backed terrorist organizations operating all over the world. The latest events in Syria serve as a testament to that. Namely, yet another US/NATO invasion that started in 2011 (ever so euphemistically dubbed the “Syrian Civil War”) is now escalating once again, resulting in hundreds of casualties on all sides, as Turkish and NATO-backed “democratic opposition” terrorists are attacking the Aleppo Governorate. Based in the occupied Idlib province, where the CIA and other Western intelligence services are working closely with the Turkish military, the terrorists seem to have been gathering troops and equipment to break the ceasefire established around half a decade ago. It should be noted that the occupation forces are also composed of Jabhat Al Nusra, now known as Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an Al Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group that has been infesting the area for nearly a decade and a half. To make matters worse, the Neo-Nazi junta in Kiev is also closely linked with the HTS and similar terrorist organizations operating under NATO support in Syria. Turkey supplies everything these terrorists need, including M113 APCs (armored personnel carriers) that were recently filmed advancing in the area. Military sources report that factions such as the Turkestan Islamic Party have also been involved in the terrorist offensive that started on November 27. The Kiev regime’s propaganda also brags about the involvement of its intelligence services, confirming reports about their involvement that InfoBRICS published in recent months. These intelligence assets were sent to Idlib through Turkey to train terrorists in new tactics with a particular focus on drone warfare. This includes the infamous GUR’s Khimik Group, which launched an attack on a Russian military outpost in Aleppo on September 15. There’s strong evidence, including footage that shows the direct involvement of the United States. All this suggests that Washington DC and the Kiev regime are trying to overstretch Moscow in order to disrupt the SMO. Namely, the political West has been trying to stop the steady advance of the Russian military by authorizing long-range strikes deeper within Russia and is even contemplating the possibility of delivering previously banned medium-range missiles, along with nuclear weapons to the Kiev regime. The Kremlin has already said it will have zero tolerance for such actions and that it will respond to NATO directly. This leaves the political West with one option – (re)activate other global hotspots in order to shift Moscow’s focus away from Ukraine. Unsurprisingly, Turkey is directly supporting this by pushing its terrorists in Idlib to resume fighting. It should be noted that Ankara also recently stated that it fully supports the Neo-Nazi junta in the NATO-orchestrated Ukrainian conflict, proving that the latest escalation in Syria is very well planned and coordinated. Another interesting development is Turkey’s likely return to the F-35 program, with military sources indicating that it could acquire up to 40 of the troubled fighter jets. What this means is that Ankara effectively jeopardizing its future in return for one of the worst military aircraft in recent history. It should be noted this is not a new development, as I’ve already argued back in April that this would happen. For their part, Russia and Syria are responding to the new crisis with airstrikes on NATO-backed terrorists, with hundreds eliminated since last week. However, it will take some time for Damascus to fully mobilize the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and push back. Syrian special forces are already responding, but their actions are aimed at coordinating defenses and preventing further gains by terrorists. The latest developments in Syria are yet another undeniable proof that the political West is obsessed with war, death and destruction and that it’s simply incapable of peaceful coexistence with the actual world. It also demonstrates why it’s so important for the planet to unite and form an indivisible security architecture that would isolate the US/NATO and its vassals and satellite states. This is the only way to prevent their aggression against the entire world. As for Turkey, it needs to change its expansionist policies in order to build better relations with BRICS. Ankara will need to make a far more convincing commitment, first by leaving NATO and then by rejecting Neo-Ottomanism, pan-Turkism and Islamic radicalism as tools of its power projection. EVERGREEN & The Black Budget Operation (PART 1) It all began with the firefighting planes that don't fight fires, leading one to ask, "then what exactly are all of those chemical tanks for?"... Agent131711 This crazy story began back in 2002. It was fire season in the United States and the media reported a fatal crash of two air tankers, a Lockheed C-130A Hercules and a Consolidated PB4Y-2. This crash lead to the US Department of Interior issuing an official request for an investigation into the development of next-generation air tankers; larger firefighting planes, which would mean less planes would be needed in the smoke-filled skies, which would mean safer airways for everyone. A company called Evergreen Aviation said with a smile, “Hey! We could convert some of our Boeing 747-200 freighters into blaze fighters!” and the government was like, “Ok, you do that and we will take a look at what you make.”. Shortly thereafter, in 2004, the Evergreen Supertanker was born from a Boeing 747 (N470EV) and, like a toddler taking his first steps, the modified plane took its first test flight. 747 Supertanker, Marana Come summer 2006, Evergreen had invested $40 million into the project. All they needed now was FAA certification and an evaluation from the US Forest Service. Once complete those big, beautiful planes could officially be put into production and one day, God willing, they would all lift into the sky, carrying tens-of-thousands of gallons of fire-extinguishing water. In fall of the same year, the FAA came through for Evergreen and issued the necessary documents which would officially allow them to gut and modify a fleet of planes. Evergreen now had permission to install the support structure needed for aerial dispersion of liquids - but this time around, it would not be water going in the tanks, it would be chemicals… to save America from fire season. Thankfully, the fleet of modified aircrafts, which can hold as much as 18 pallets worth of world-saving chemicals, were quickly completed and ready to take flight at the first signs of fire. This project could not have been ready at a better time because, on May 29th of 2011, disaster struck the home state of the Supertankers, Arizona. And the fleet of incredible modified Boeings heroically took flight that day, quickly putting out the blaze - well, not really. Evergreen’s firefighting planes were not in the sky the first day of the fire. Nor were they in the air the next day, or the day after. Instead, smaller DC-10s were deployed. The problem was, these planes, the DC-10s, had a payload of only 13,000 gallons of fire retardant whereas the largest Supertankers had a payload of 86,000 gallons… But those shiny, new large-payload planes stayed grounded while little DCs and other small planes battled the growing inferno. Wallow Fire rages across Arizona - The Hindu Eventually, without the help of a single Evergreen Supertanker, the little planes and firefighters got the fire under control. When all said and done, record books would report the Wallow Fire as being the worst in Arizona history as of the time, over 800 square miles had been scorched. Extensive damage was caused to the forest ecosystem, wildlife habitats, recreational areas and homes. This lead many to ask, “Where were those incredible Supertankers?”. Answer: In their home, Pinal Airpark. In fact, as of 2013, Evergreen’s Supertankers had yet to fight a single fire anywhere in the US, ever. So who is this company? Deeper research was required… The story of Evergreen’s firefighting planes that don’t fight fires actually began back in the 1960s with a little company called Evergreen Helicopters. That small helicopter business did whatever small helicopter businesses do, until the 1970s, when it merged with Intermountain Airlines. After the merger was complete, Evergreen International Airlines came to be. It was owned by Evergreen International Aviation. Once formed, Evergreen Aviation quickly purchased the assets of Air America and began using Pinal Park in Arizona as a storage facility. Image You’re probably thinking, “So Evergreen Airlines was just some guy with a dollar and a dream who worked his way up from choppers to planes and got lucky with a merger?” - not so much. You see, Intermountain Airlines (the company Evergreen helicopters merged with) was part of Pacific Corporation. Pacific Corp was nothing more than a holding company. What is a holding company? It’s a business that doesn’t offer a service because it doesn’t actually do anything. Its only purpose is to own and control other companies. In addition to Intermountain Airlines, Pacific Corp (acting as a holding company) oversaw numerous other aviation companies, including Air America and Southern Air Transport, to name a few. And what did these airlines do? Let me show you: And: Wait a second, you’re telling me the huge firefighting planes, the 86,000 gallon payload planes that never fought a raging US fire, belonged to the flippin’ CIA?! - We will get to that in a moment, but first: Back when Evergreen was a helicopter business and the CIA was operating front aviation companies, the Intelligence Agency contracted Skunk Works to build special planes for them. Who was Skunk Works? Here you go: Image It turns out, Skunk Works wasn’t just Lockheed Martin, it was actually the branch for Lockheed’s secret weapons development program. Through this program, the defense contractor was building everything the CIA and government claimed to need. From spy planes to $96 million worth of A-12s to the first 400-mph fighter jet in the world, and who knows what else because it was a covert operation (for our safety, of course). So, when the merger happened, Evergreen International was born and it acquired the assets of the helicopter company and the CIA front aviation companies which had the Skunk Works contracts and aircraft resulting from them. Evergreen, which we should rename Ever-CIA, then made Pinal Airpark in Arizona one of its homes. Image The airpark was perfect due to its fairly remote location. Now we are in the 1980s and the CIA has its newest airline and freedom in the skies. It used these tax-funded gifts to best serve the American people, and by that I mean by doing things like transporting Salvadoran military personnel and equipment, running covert operations to support the Contras, operating mysterious missions to El Salvador and Nicaragua, loaning helicopters to El Salvador’s President Duarte, and even acting as a personal air taxi for the Shah of Iran, and more… lots more… lots, lots more. It was right around this time that news began breaking, exposing Southern Air as being a CIA operation. In fact, even the holding company, Pacific Corp, was outted as being a CIA operated entity. (This likely explains why the CIA needed to merge with Evergreen - they knew the Southern Air cover was blown and, by taking over an existing company, they could continue to operate without suspicion.) Throughout the 1990s, goo fell from the sky (yes, you read that correctly). It’s still an “unsolved mystery” because nobody has any idea how such a thing could have possibly happened, let alone so frequently… (2 minute video) Then, it was in 2001 that something never before seen appeared in the sky over the Northeastern Seaboard of the United States, but this time it wasn’t gelatinous material: (2 minute video) The following year was the (alleged) plane crash due to the smoky air which lead to Evergreen offering to modify their Boeings to save the good people of America during fire season… In 2004, a patent was filed called Aerial Delivery System. This patent was for modifying planes with a special nozzle system attached at the wing box. Guess who filed this patent? Yep, Evergreen International Aviation. Details are made more clear in a second filing under the same name: The same year, an interesting patent called PROCEDURE FOR AIR RELEASE OF MATERIAL was filed. The reason this is interesting is because this patent was not filed in the US, it was filed by Evergreen Aviation in Spain. Whether they planned to help the Spaniards fight their fires or whether they were just protecting their technology is as much of a mystery as the goo. In 2007, another patent was filed, Enhanced aerial delivery system. The description reads “…large quantities of fluids, powders, and other agent materials are to be transported in and aerially dispersed by aircraft” Simultaneously, the sky was being filled with lines - but don’t worry folks, these are just contrails and there is absolutely nothing to fear, they say… Sky grids? Oh, those are just from an increase in air traffic, nothing is being sprayed, don’t be a silly conspiracy theorist. Despite being repeatedly told the sky-spam is 100% normal and that the atmosphere has always looked like this, many in the public weren’t buying the story. Concerned citizens, determined to figure out who these harmless-contrail-planes belonged to, began tracking them - and they happened to track them to some interesting places…. When citizens attempted to visit the Arizona airpark, which was being advertised as a public place, they discovered that not only was it not public, but it was patrolled by all-black helicopters and featured armed security that would not allow anyone inside. At the time, one citizen journalist reported the sky above the airpark had strange “dripping lines”. Like My Research? Buy Me a Coffee On Google Earth, armchair detectives noticed a massive pile of a black substance that seemed like an odd thing to have at an airpark. Coincidentally, people were filming planes releasing a strange black substance, but this is just exhaust, we are told. Yes, it’s exhaust. And this is also exhaust. And if you don’t believe that, then it’s a fuel dump. …and if you don’t believe any of that, you’re not an aviation expert so you wouldn’t understand. Researchers also learned that this exact location, the storage facility for an airline that owns firefighting planes that don’t fight fires, was also the training grounds for both National Guard and the CIA. Then, when outraged members of the public began looking deeper into these planes, they discovered that the planes leaving contrail grids and performing lengthy fuel dumps directly over populated areas, were not only unmarked, (meaning they didn’t have any kind of insignia or numbers on them) but additionally, they were not appearing on radar; they were flying without transponders. Not being on radar is a very serious issue, nearly causing a FedEx plane to crash… three times in one flight… If you’re not familiar with transponders, with very few exceptions, aircraft above 10,000 feet must have their tracking system turned on - but one of those exceptions is if they are military (or involved in a military operation). “It is preposterous to think these planes are being used to modify the weather! They are for fighting fires!”, they tell me. To which I reply, on Evergreen Aviation’s website (which they have updated since I got these screenshots), they showed the Supertanker… Image …and raved about its firefighting capacity… Image … but if you scrolled down the page, you discovered it has other purposes… such as Weather Modification… Image “Cloud seeding!”, they scream. To which I respond, cloud seeders are tiny planes, often Beechcrafts: Close-up of a turboprop plane sprinkling chemicals into clouds in a blue sky. Cloud seeding typically takes under 30 minutes total and is performed using flares… This photo shows flares fixed on the aircraft's wing that house the silver iodide used for cloud seeding. …or canisters… A silver canister hanging from the wing of a plane. …or a tank connected to a nozzle or two: Mexico is seeding clouds to make rain — scientists aren't sure it works Meanwhile, this is the inside of an Evergreen Supertanker… the planes that hold 18 pallets worth of chemicals and have patents for exterior nozzles that release other materials into the sky… So, what exactly are these planes doing to modify the weather using chemical tanks and nozzles? Only one thing fits all of the evidence… But, according to Wikipedia, in June 2014, Evergreen declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the company died off, got rid of all of its assets and that was the end of the story. Originally, I was going to end the article on a decide for yourself cliff-hanger, but after finishing writing, I kept thinking it wouldn’t hurt to spend 10 minutes tracking down where those assets went. I would soon discover that wanting answers to such a simple question would quickly turns into a nightmare, both on and off the internet. The first time I heard Wi-Fi, I was transported back to the 1970s – I remembered that sound! Why, I wondered, am I hearing the ‘Russian Woodpecker’ on this radio-frequency (“RF”) radiation meter? As someone who’s suffered for decades from the reckless spread of harmful man-made RF radiation and helped many others through their trials as well, I’ve developed a profound appreciation for the uniquely destructive force known as Wi-Fi. I’m not a professional scientist, researcher or doctor but I’m not without experience, and I’d like to share some of my thoughts on why I believe Wi-Fi is so uniquely harmful. I believe there are at least four unique types of harm from Wi-Fi radiation exposure: The radio-frequency radiation exposure itself. A “multiplier” effect from the pulse-modulated RF carrying the data. The 10Hz modulated ELF effect on the brain, disrupting natural rhythms. The Wi-Fi memory effect outside the brain—captured trauma within the body’s tissues RF Radiation in Warfare – The Moscow Embassy Affair Perhaps the first act of warfare using radio-frequency radiation was the so-called ‘Moscow Embassy Affair’ – long before the ‘Woodpecker’, which we’ll discuss in a moment. First, I want to point out the depth and breadth of knowledge about causing harm with RF radiation that existed well before the Woodpecker came into play. Here’s what happened in Moscow: From the 1950s to the 1970s, the US embassy in Moscow was bombarded with low-level microwave (RF) radiation, known as the Moscow Embassy Affair. This covert operation targeted embassy staff, exposing them to RF radiation at frequencies well below the thermal threshold, yet the long-term effects were profound. It raised alarms within US intelligence and spurred decades of research into the biological impacts of non-ionising radiation, uncovering links to cognitive impairments, illness and psychological effects. The lesson from the Moscow Embassy Affair is clear: the harmful potential of RF radiation has been known for over 70 years, and the technology to exploit it has only become more sophisticated. Wi-Fi and the modern proliferation of Wi-Fi devices may seem benign, but the depth of what we know about the risks – and what we choose to ignore – runs far deeper than most realize. Hearing Wi-Fi Let’s start with ‘hearing’ Wi-Fi. When an RF meter has audio capability, it has a sound demodulation feature or audio output capability. This feature allows the meter to translate the detected RF signals into audible sound, helping users distinguish different RF sources based on the sound pattern emitted. It is beneficial for identifying the nature of the RF signal, such as Wi-Fi, cell towers, or other sources, through audio feedback. I’ll explain what the “Russian Woodpecker” is in a moment, but first, here’s an example of what I heard the first time I experienced Wi-Fi through my meter’s sound demodulation feature compared with a historical recording of the Woodpecker from the so-called Cold War. What Exactly is Wi-Fi? Of course, it’s everywhere. You get a side order of Wi-Fi radiation with every coffee at almost every coffee shop in the nation. It’s in almost every business and home. So, where did it come from? Our good old friends at the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), who supported and promoted the narrative that non-thermal effects are not scientifically substantiated and helped engineer the absurd SAR-based testing, were the same folks who enabled the introduction of Wi-Fi in 1997. The IEEE’s 802.11 committee developed the initial standards for wireless local area networks (“WLANs”), which paved the way for the commercial release of Wi-Fi. Despite ongoing concerns about potential non-thermal biological effects, the IEEE focused solely on thermal effects in its safety guidelines. It asserts that as long as Specific Absorption Rate (“SAR”) levels remained below thresholds for tissue heating, Wi-Fi and similar technologies were safe. This stance has remained a cornerstone of wireless safety standards, shaping how devices are tested and regulated. Thanks, IEEE! With Wi-Fi, there are two separate modulated radiation emissions: one for the beacon, which continuously projects RF radiation, and one for the data, which projects additional RF radiation. The Beacon The hammering sound of Wi-Fi’s beacon isn’t the sound of data sent from one device to another – that’s in addition to the constant hammering. The hammering is called a beacon. This beacon, pulsing steadily at 10 impulses per second in the extremely low frequency (“ELF”) range, never stops. When you have Wi-Fi “service,” you’re exposed not only to whatever the frequency of the RF, but also to this unique frequency of 10Hz. Here’s how that works. Through pulse-width modulation, a high-frequency RF radiation emission can mimic a lower-frequency emission by controlling the duration of the pulses, creating an effect that simulates the behaviour of the lower frequency while maintaining the original high-frequency carrier. For example, a 2.4GHz stream of RF radiation can be turned on and off at specific intervals, generating both the 2.4GHz carrier emission and a 10Hz pulsed phenomenon, effectively embedding the lower frequency within the high-frequency emission. Here’s the thing – from a technical standpoint, there’s no need for the beacon. For Wi-Fi to offer location-independent connectivity – that’s all it does, by the way, freeing you from using a wire to connect your devices – it doesn’t need the constant beacon to function. The beacon creates an unnecessary and persistent exposure to radio-frequency radiation of both the carrier frequency and the 10Hz phenomenon. Why am I concerned about an ELF phenomenon at 10Hz? Frequencies in the extremely low frequency (“ELF”) range, especially around 10Hz, can interact with biological systems, particularly brainwaves, which naturally oscillate at similar frequencies (such as alpha waves). This raises concerns about potential neurological or physiological effects. Unnecessary constant exposure to both the radiation from the beacon’s carrier wave plus the embedded 10Hz modulation – check. Data Transmission Wi-Fi transmits data through modulated RF radiation in specific industrial, scientific, and medical (“ISM”) bands. The radiation is emitted in bursts, with each burst containing encoded data packets. As data is sent, both the router and receiving device emit radiation while continuously exchanging additional radiation to verify packet integrity. This process results in an undulating emission of RF radiation from both devices throughout the communication session, regardless of data size or speed. The highest exposures occur closest to the transmitting devices and routers, but RF radiation permeates the environment, extending far beyond the transmission and reception points. Constant radiation emission from the beacon, additional radiation emissions with a different modulation scheme on data transfer – check. As an important aside, high-definition (“HD”) data multiplies these emissions dramatically since HD content, like 4K video, requires significantly more bandwidth and frequent packet transfers. For example, a 360p video requires around 0.5 Mbps (megabits per second), while a 4K video can demand up to 25 Mbps or more – that’s a 50-fold increase. This increased data throughput results in much more frequent and sustained bursts of RF radiation, significantly increasing emissions during streaming or high-definition activities. If you’re still using wireless you may want to turn down the video or audio resolution as an immediate method of reducing exposure. About that Woodpecker Here’s the official story on the Duga radar, what Americans nicknamed the “Russian Woodpecker.” In Russian, the word “Duga” means “arc” or “curve” but in the electrical sense, it specifically refers to an electrical arc, describing the curved path of an electrical discharge between two points. The Duga project, we are told, was a ‘Soviet over-the-horizon radar system’ used during the Cold War that operated on a broad range of frequencies, emitting RF radiation in a pulsed manner. When demodulated on a shortwave set (where I first heard the sound in the 1970s), it sounded like a repetitive tapping noise (10 Hz) that many could hear across the globe when tuning into active frequencies. The phenomenon was dubbed the “Russian Woodpecker” because of its sound. The effect of Duga was pulse-modulated RF radiation projected over a variety of frequencies, primarily aimed at North America The Duga radar system was massive, with its primary antenna stretching over 700 meters long and 150 meters high. It operated at incredible power levels, arguably up to 10 megawatts. The primary Duga antenna near Chornobyl (pictured above) stopped broadcasting in 1986, the same year as the Chornobyl nuclear disaster. Some years later, the modern plague of Wi-Fi began to spread. First, hundreds, then thousands and then millions of smaller sources of 10Hz pulse-modulated RF radiation traded for the single source from the big antenna. Wi-Fi – More RF than the Woodpecker But here’s the thing: The inverse square law, which tells us that radiation intensity decreases rapidly with distance, offers no comfort here. While Duga’s powerful signal diminished over long distances, the countless Wi-Fi routers and devices are right in our homes, workplaces, and public spaces – mere feet or inches from our bodies. Each router’s radiation may be lower in power than Duga, but it’s much closer, meaning that exposure levels are much higher. Instead of one distant, massive source, we now face an omnipresent web of close-range, pulse-modulated RF radiation. IoT is Madness The madness of the Internet of Things (“IoT”) will multiply this exposure exponentially. With every new “smart” device, from refrigerators to light bulbs to security cameras, we introduce yet another source of 10Hz pulse-modulated RF radiation into our environments. These devices, constantly connected and communicating, add to the already overwhelming burden of Wi-Fi, saturating our living spaces with radiation that is difficult to avoid. Unlike the days of Duga, where one could move far enough away to escape its reach, the IoT creates a situation where escape becomes difficult. Each device may emit at lower power, but the sheer number of sources, combined with their proximity, ensures the exposure is constant and cumulative. Potential Cognitive Effects of 10Hz ELF Exposure So, what’s the fascination with a 10Hz signal embedded within the stream of RF radiation? Entrainment – the reality of a frequency-following effect. The human brain operates within a range of frequencies, with different brainwave states corresponding to specific activities. The average state varies depending on what we’re doing, but its default state is governed by the Schumann resonance, a natural frequency of around 7.83 Hz that the Earth’s electromagnetic field generates. However, the brain can shift toward that frequency in the presence of a persistent 10Hz signal. This process of entrainment means that the brain, instead of maintaining its natural rhythm, follows the external signal. Over time, this can lead to a potentially significant disruption in brain function, as the constant exposure to Wi-Fi’s 10Hz pulses pushes the brain into an unnatural rhythm, overriding its connection to the Earth’s natural frequency. The brain is your only source of reference for reality. If the brain itself is being altered, your perception of what’s happening is also altered. It’s like trying to judge the stability of a ship while standing on it in rough seas – your perspective is skewed. This entrainment effect, over time, could create a state where you’re more easily influenced – a “suggestible state.” In this state, the brain is more receptive to external input, whether it’s media, marketing or even subconscious influences. With Wi-Fi and other sources of 10Hz modulation becoming increasingly pervasive, these signals may be subtly altering how we think and respond without us even realising it. We’re talking about the possibility of mind control, not in the Hollywood sense, but in creating an internal state different from the natural state of consciousness in which we’re involuntarily shifted from our natural connection to the Earth toward an unnatural, more suggestible rhythm. This shift, brought about by constant exposure to the 10Hz Wi-Fi beacon modulation, subtly alters our brain’s natural rhythms. Instead of being attuned to the Schumann resonance, we’re pulled into synchronisation with a synthetic rhythm – a state of consciousness that feels normal but is actually disconnected from our natural state. In this altered state, our thoughts, emotions, and perceptions may be more easily influenced by the artificial environment around us as we become entrained to its frequencies. Traumatic Memories Stored Outside the Brain The Wi-Fi memory effect theorises that constant exposure to Wi-Fi’s pulsed signals, particularly its 10Hz modulation, leaves a lasting imprint not just on the brain, but throughout the body. This memory is thought to be stored in the structured water that makes up a significant portion of the body’s tissues. Structured water, believed to hold information and maintain coherence, could act as a medium for retaining artificial frequencies, even after the radiation source is removed. In this theory, the body continues to resonate at the artificial 10Hz frequency, much like an echo that persists long after the sound has stopped. This could explain why some people continue to experience electromagnetic sensitivity or cognitive disruption symptoms, as the structured water in their bodies retains the influence of these synthetic rhythms, preventing a return to their natural state. This memory effect can affect even that tiny portion of the population with a home that prevents wireless trespass of Wi-Fi. Even in meticulously shielded environments, where Wi-Fi and other sources of RF radiation are kept out, the body may continue to resonate with the artificial frequencies it was previously exposed to. The structured water throughout the body, which retains the memory of these frequencies, may cause lingering effects long after the initial exposure. This means that even in environments free from ongoing wireless intrusion, people could still experience symptoms of electromagnetic sensitivity as their bodies hold onto the disruptive patterns embedded by previous Wi-Fi exposure. This phenomenon may explain why electromagnetic poisoning victims (electromagnetic hypersensitivity or EHS victims) get stuck in a chronic state of dysautonomia. Dysautonomia, an autonomic nervous system dysfunction, often involves an imbalance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches – commonly called the “fight or flight” and “rest and digest” responses. Constant exposure to pulse-modulated RF radiation like Wi-Fi may lock the body in a heightened sympathetic state, perpetuating a chronic fight-or-flight response. Even after removing wireless radiation sources, the body continues to resonate with these artificial frequencies through the memory effect stored in its structured water. This prevents a return to parasympathetic dominance, where healing and recovery occur, trapping the person in constant physiological stress. This imbalance could explain why many EHS victims struggle to recover, as their bodies remain wired for stress long after the environmental exposure has been mitigated. He had been dispatched to southern Lebanon from Gaza after the Israeli regime announced the “ground invasion” of southern Lebanon recently, which has proved a complete disaster for the regime. After failing to achieve its key military objectives in the Gaza Strip after one year of genocidal war that has claimed nearly 43,300 lives so far, the Israeli regime ordered a “ground invasion” of southern Lebanon early last month despite warnings from the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah. Despite its attempts, the Tel Aviv regime has not succeeded in breaching the Lebanese border, facing strong resilience from the Lebanese-based resistance Hezbollah. According to Israeli media, including Yedioth Ahronoth, around 50,000 Israeli troops as part of five military divisions and reserve brigades have failed to occupy even one Lebanese village or town in more than a month while losing hundreds of soldiers to Lebanese resistance operations in the process. One of them is Ben Natan, who had the blood of many Palestinian children on his hands. Just after the Israeli regime launched its genocidal war against Palestinians in Gaza in October last year, a hate-spewing military reservist killed 40-year-old Bilal Salah, a Palestinian olive harvester in the village of Sawiya, located south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. The extent of his brutality became alarmingly evident during his funeral, where his brother Uriyah and friends openly recounted his war crimes and expressed a desire for “revenge.” Their speeches were subsequently interpreted as explicit admissions of the slain reservist’s heinous atrocities committed against Palestinian civilians, emphasizing his direct involvement in war crimes. Bilal Salah, an olive farmer, was killed by Ben Natan while he was picking olives in his farm in the village of al-Sawiya, occupied West Bank, in October 2023. Kennedy Jr. is forcing biotech and pharma leaders to grapple with having US life sciences policy influenced by a figure who has extensively criticized vaccines and the drug industry, routinely embraces many conspiracy theories, and has made threats to force out FDA staff. As Trump has made gains in his bid for the US presidency against Democrat nominee Kamala Harris, he’s embraced Kennedy, who was once considered a fringe candidate expected to gather at most a few percent of the vote in some states. “I’m gonna let him go wild on health,” Trump said of RFK Jr. on Sunday at a campaign event in Madison Square Garden in New York. “I’m gonna let him go wild on the food. I’m gonna let him go wild on the medicines.” While Kennedy would be an unlikely pick for an actual appointment in the administration given the difficulty he might face with a confirmation, he’s worked with Trump’s team to help plan for a new administration, particularly on healthcare issues. And last week, he gave a preview of what that would mean in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying that “FDA’s war on public health is about to end,” and calling for stopping what he called the suppression of “psychedelics, peptides, stem cells, raw milk, hyperbaric therapies, chelating compounds, ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, vitamins, clean foods, sunshine, exercise, nutraceuticals and anything else that advances human health and can’t be patented by Pharma.” “If you work for the FDA and are part of this corrupt system, I have two messages for you: 1. Preserve your records, and 2. Pack your bags,” Kennedy said in the post. The remarks weren’t a one-off. Earlier this month, Kennedy made similar comments to television host Phil McGraw, better known as Dr. Phil, saying that the “principal objective of the FDA today is to serve the mercantile interests of pharmaceutical companies.” There would certainly be limits to what an unconventional, RFK Jr.-allied FDA leader could do, given the power of professional staff at the FDA. But Kennedy’s comments have forced the industry to contemplate a very different environment in Washington if Trump wins and embraces a new approach. And RFK Jr.’s planned reforms, like cutting funding or headcount at the FDA, would have to come from Congress. The FDA-pharma industry user fee deal, current through 2027, is renewed once every five years, and the FDA employees reviewing new and generic drugs or new evidence of existing drugs are typically not political appointees but physicians who are employed by the FDA via industry funds. One former Trump health official who has had conversations with the campaign and those preparing for a potential transition said there were aspects of RFK Jr.’s ideas that had merit, including a focus on wellness and health. But they expressed a hope that more mainstream figures in a Trump administration would put guardrails around more extreme concepts, like RFK Jr.’s well-documented anti-vaccine sentiments. His Legacy Will Live The cynical fabrication of "false flags" that led to the invasion of Vietnam [First published by Global Research on September 24, 2017] One of the most hyped “events” of American television, The Vietnam War, has started on the PBS network. The directors are Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. Acclaimed for his documentaries on the Civil War, the Great Depression and the history of jazz, Burns says of his Vietnam films, “They will inspire our country to begin to talk and think about the Vietnam war in an entirely new way”. In a society often bereft of historical memory and in thrall to the propaganda of its “exceptionalism”, Burns’ “entirely new” Vietnam war is presented as “epic, historic work”. Its lavish advertising campaign promotes its biggest backer, Bank of America, which in 1971 was burned down by students in Santa Barbara, California, as a symbol of the hated war in Vietnam. Burns says he is grateful to “the entire Bank of America family” which “has long supported our country’s veterans”. Bank of America was a corporate prop to an invasion that killed perhaps as many as four million Vietnamese and ravaged and poisoned a once bountiful land. More than 58,000 American soldiers were killed, and around the same number are estimated to have taken their own lives. I watched the first episode in New York. It leaves you in no doubt of its intentions right from the start. The narrator says the war “was begun in good faith by decent people out of fateful misunderstandings, American overconfidence and Cold War misunderstandings”. The dishonesty of this statement is not surprising. The cynical fabrication of “false flags” that led to the invasion of Vietnam is a matter of record – the Gulf of Tonkin “incident” in 1964, which Burns promotes as true, was just one. The lies litter a multitude of official documents, notably the Pentagon Papers, which the great whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg released in 1971. There was no good faith. The faith was rotten and cancerous. For me – as it must be for many Americans – it is difficult to watch the film’s jumble of “red peril” maps, unexplained interviewees, ineptly cut archive and maudlin American battlefield sequences. In the series’ press release in Britain – the BBC will show it – there is no mention of Vietnamese dead, only Americans. “We are all searching for some meaning in this terrible tragedy,” Novick is quoted as saying. How very post-modern. All this will be familiar to those who have observed how the American media and popular culture behemoth has revised and served up the great crime of the second half of the twentieth century: from The Green Berets and The Deer Hunter to Rambo and, in so doing, has legitimised subsequent wars of aggression. The revisionism never stops and the blood never dries. The invader is pitied and purged of guilt, while “searching for some meaning in this terrible tragedy”. Cue Bob Dylan: “Oh, where have you been, my blue-eyed son?” I thought about the “decency” and “good faith” when recalling my own first experiences as a young reporter in Vietnam: watching hypnotically as the skin fell off Napalmed peasant children like old parchment, and the ladders of bombs that left trees petrified and festooned with human flesh. General William Westmoreland, the American commander, referred to people as “termites”. In the early 1970s, I went to Quang Ngai province, where in the village of My Lai, between 347 and 500 men, women and infants were murdered by American troops (Burns prefers “killings”). At the time, this was presented as an aberration: an “American tragedy” (Newsweek ). In this one province, it was estimated that 50,000 people had been slaughtered during the era of American “free fire zones”. Mass homicide. This was not news. To the north, in Quang Tri province, more bombs were dropped than in all of Germany during the Second World War. Since 1975, unexploded ordnance has caused more than 40,000 deaths in mostly “South Vietnam”, the country America claimed to “save” and, with France, conceived as a singularly imperial ruse. The “meaning” of the Vietnam war is no different from the meaning of the genocidal campaign against the Native Americans, the colonial massacres in the Philippines, the atomic bombings of Japan, the levelling of every city in North Korea. The aim was described by Colonel Edward Lansdale, the famous CIA man on whom Graham Greene based his central character in The Quiet American. Quoting Robert Taber‘s The War of the Flea, Lansdale said, “There is only one means of defeating an insurgent people who will not surrender, and that is extermination. There is only one way to control a territory that harbours resistance, and that is to turn it into a desert.” Nothing has changed. When Donald Trump addressed the United Nations on 19 September – a body established to spare humanity the “scourge of war” – he declared he was “ready, willing and able” to “totally destroy” North Korea and its 25 million people. His audience gasped, but Trump’s language was not unusual. His rival for the presidency, Hillary Clinton, had boasted she was prepared to “totally obliterate” Iran, a nation of more than 80 million people. This is the American Way; only the euphemisms are missing now. Returning to the US, I am struck by the silence and the absence of an opposition – on the streets, in journalism and the arts, as if dissent once tolerated in the “mainstream” has regressed to a dissidence: a metaphoric underground. There is plenty of sound and fury at Trump the odious one, the “fascist”, but almost none at Trump the symptom and caricature of an enduring system of conquest and extremism. Where are the ghosts of the great anti-war demonstrations that took over Washington in the 1970s? Where is the equivalent of the Freeze Movement that filled the streets of Manhattan in the 1980s, demanding that President Reagan withdraw battlefield nuclear weapons from Europe? The sheer energy and moral persistence of these great movements largely succeeded; by 1987 Reagan had negotiated with Mikhail Gorbachev an Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) that effectively ended the Cold War. Today, according to secret Nato documents obtained by the German newspaper, Suddeutsche Zetung, this vital treaty is likely to be abandoned as “nuclear targeting planning is increased”. The German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel has warned against “repeating the worst mistakes of the Cold War… All the good treaties on disarmament and arms control from Gorbachev and Reagan are in acute peril. Europe is threatened again with becoming a military training ground for nuclear weapons. We must raise our voice against this.” But not in America. The thousands who turned out for Senator Bernie Sanders‘ “revolution” in last year’s presidential campaign are collectively mute on these dangers. That most of America’s violence across the world has been perpetrated not by Republicans, or mutants like Trump, but by liberal Democrats, remains a taboo. Barack Obama provided the apotheosis, with seven simultaneous wars, a presidential record, including the destruction of Libya as a modern state. Obama’s overthrow of Ukraine’s elected government has had the desired effect: the massing of American-led Nato forces on Russia’s western borderland through which the Nazis invaded in 1941. Obama’s “pivot to Asia” in 2011 signaled the transfer of the majority of America’s naval and air forces to Asia and the Pacific for no purpose other than to confront and provoke China. The Nobel Peace Laureate’s worldwide campaign of assassinations is arguably the most extensive campaign of terrorism since 9/11. What is known in the US as “the left” has effectively allied with the darkest recesses of institutional power, notably the Pentagon and the CIA, to see off a peace deal between Trump and Vladimir Putin and to reinstate Russia as an enemy, on the basis of no evidence of its alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election. The true scandal is the insidious assumption of power by sinister war-making vested interests for which no American voted. The rapid ascendancy of the Pentagon and the surveillance agencies under Obama represented an historic shift of power in Washington. Daniel Ellsberg rightly called it a coup. The three generals running Trump are its witness. All of this fails to penetrate those “liberal brains pickled in the formaldehyde of identity politics”, as Luciana Bohne noted memorably. Commodified and market-tested, “diversity” is the new liberal brand, not the class people serve regardless of their gender and skin colour: not the responsibility of all to stop a barbaric war to end all wars. “How did it fucking come to this?” says Michael Moore in his Broadway show, Terms of My Surrender, a vaudeville for the disaffected set against a backdrop of Trump as Big Brother. I admired Moore’s film, Roger & Me, about the economic and social devastation of his hometown of Flint, Michigan, and Sicko, his investigation into the corruption of healthcare in America. The night I saw his show, his happy-clappy audience cheered his reassurance that “we are the majority!” and calls to “impeach Trump, a liar and a fascist!” His message seemed to be that had you held your nose and voted for Hillary Clinton, life would be predictable again. He may be right. Instead of merely abusing the world, as Trump does, the Great Obliterator might have attacked Iran and lobbed missiles at Putin, whom she likened to Hitler: a particular profanity given the 27 million Russians who died in Hitler’s invasion. “Listen up,” said Moore, “putting aside what our governments do, Americans are really loved by the world!” There was a silence. * Click the share button below to email/forward this article to your friends and colleagues.
