I experienced the Great American Eclipse under some clouds that rolled in, as is typical for astronomical events, during the moment of maximum eclipse. The birds stopped singing except for one squawking bird in a tall tree, the squirrels went home, the color of the ambient light changed from orange to blue as it would in the evening, the shadows on the ground became softer, the wind speed increased and the temperature cooled. Mac saw his first squirrel today. Chased him 3 blocks up into this maple tree. About pulled my arm out of my socket; I need a better leash. Man does he not like squirrels ! We had to sit there for 15 minutes until he would finally leave the squirrel alone.

It may not look like much, but this is a white truffle. I started finding a few of these in an overgrown tree farm that I pass through while walking the dog. I saw indication that other animals were digging up the duff under the trees and decided to see what they were going after. Turns out squirrels and a few other critters like truffles too.

Whenever I hear the song #BoneyM: Daddy cool, and the part when they sing "I'm crazy like a fool", I remember this photo - when we played with the young lions in the Safari Park, before they were released into the wild. Never do this - don't grab the animal by the tail. Neither in the wild, nor in the Zoo, nor at home. No lions, no tigers, wild or home cats, horses, cows, lemurs, squirrels... Not one... Doing so risks serious injury. Unless they are young and for them everything is still a game (as they allowed us to play with young lions). If they were a little older, there would be no posts now????
