Israeli attacks have killed 27 Palestinians and wounded 149 in the latest 24-hour reporting period, Gaza’s Health Ministry says.

Sixth baby dies from severe cold in Gaza as Israel raids hospitals

Cold weather in Gaza has claimed the life of a baby, the sixth to die in a week, according to medical sources, as Israel continues its relentless attacks on hospitals across the strip.

One-month-old Ali al-Batran died on Monday at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in central Gaza, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported, quoting medical sources who attributed his death to plummeting temperatures.

The day before, his twin brother, Jumaa al-Batran, perished from the cold in the displaced family’s flimsy tent in Deir el-Balah, also in the centre of the enclave, his father said, describing how Jumaa had been discovered with his head as “cold as ice”.

The babies were born one month prematurely.

Three of the six Palestinian babies who have died of hypothermia in the past week lived in the coastal “safe zone” of al-Mawasi, close to the southern town of Khan Younis.

Over 80 percent of Gaza displacement tents destroyed by bitter winter conditions

Gaza’s government media office announced over the weekend that around 110,000 tents out of 135,000 are “worn out” and “unfit” for displaced Palestinians.

By late November, over 80 percent of Gaza’s displacement tents had already been severely affected by the weather and the lack of essential facilities to deal with it.

Video footage from 30 December and the past 24 hours has shown many tents, most of which are made from cloth, completely soaked in rainwater, or submerged in areas that have been flooded.

“Babies in Gaza are freezing to death due to cold weather and lack of shelter … Blankets, mattresses, and other winter supplies have been stuck in the region for months waiting for approval to get into Gaza,” Commissioner-General of UNRWA Phillipe Lazzarini said last week, referring to Israel’s closure of all border crossings and the continued prevention of essential aid from entering the strip. Meanwhile, warplanes continue to carry out brutal attacks across the strip.

Gaza hospital director held at notorious Israeli military detention center

A prominent Palestinian hospital director who was arrested by Israel in a raid that closed the last major functioning health facility in northern Gaza is being held at a controversial military base that doubles as a detention facility, recently released former detainees have told CNN.

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya has not been seen publicly since Israeli forces raided Kamal Adwan hospital on Friday. Staff members accused Israeli forces of starting a fire in the hospital and said they were all rounded up outside and forced to remove their clothes, a process that took hours, before being forced to leave.

Local journalist Mohammad Al-Sharif said he was among those who were detained from the hospital before his release 11 hours later.

“We endured extremely difficult moments in inhumane conditions,” he told CNN. “The occupation army made no distinction between medical staff, patients, civilians, or journalists.”

The Israeli military said on Saturday it had detained Dr. Abu Safiya because he was “suspected of being a Hamas terrorist operative,” and claimed that the hospital was being used by Hamas as a “command and control center.” The military did not provide any evidence to support the claims.

Palestinian prisoners released this weekend from the facility said they saw Abu Safiya at the prison, and another former detainee said he heard Abu Safiya’s name being read out. CNN cannot independently verify their accounts. The Israeli military has not confirmed to CNN whether Abu Safiya is being held at the facility.

    Ha’aretz Op-Ed: Leave Gaza’s Hospitals Alone

Excerpt from the lead editorial in Israeli daily Ha’aretz, December 30, 2024, published in both English and Hebrew:

On Sunday, the IDF claimed that it had arrested over 240 terrorists at the hospital and that its director is suspected of being a Hamas operative. To prove this assertion, the army released pictures of two pistols and a knife found in the hospital.

This meager haul does the opposite of supporting the IDF’s claims. For two pistols and a knife you don’t evacuate dozens of patients and doctors from a hospital and march them in their underwear, on a cold night, before the cameras in order to humiliate them.

It is fair to assume that the deliberate damage to hospitals in Gaza has a different purpose. It appears that as part of the ethnic cleansing of the northern Strip.

In the absence of medical facilities, northern Gaza will be emptied faster, as the sick and wounded flee south in an effort to find care [or die]. Such a large area cannot be left without hospitals, especially in wartime.

The Fourth Geneva Convention accords special status to hospitals during wartime. The presence of small arms and ammunition in a hospital does not justify attacking it, nor does the presence of enemy fighters who are hospitalized there.

Northern Gaza has been destroyed and devastated; the IDF is now mainly engaged in completing its destruction. This is an illegitimate action, and in any case it is prohibited to include hospitals.

‘Systematic elimination of prisoners’: Five Palestinians die in Israeli custody within 24 hours

Four Palestinian prisoners died in Israeli custody on 30 December, bringing the number of detainees killed in Tel Aviv’s brutal prison system up to five within the past 24 hours.

All five were detained from the Gaza Strip, where Israel continues its genocidal campaign against civilians and medical facilities.

A statement from the Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) and Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs held the Israeli Prison Service (IPS) responsible for the crimes committed against prisoners, warning of a “growing humanitarian disaster” and accusing Israeli authorities of working to “systematically and publicly liquidate prisoners.”

The Palestinian Ministry of Detainees and Ex-Detainees announced last week the deaths of two other Palestinian prisoners.

Israeli detention centers and prisons where Palestinian detainees are held are known for their extremely repressive and violent conditions, which include torture, rape, and other human rights violations.

The UN warned earlier this year that Palestinians imprisoned across Israeli jails and detention camps have also faced waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and electrocution by Israeli prison authorities since 7 October 2023.

Palestinian detainees from Gaza held by Israel unaccounted for, say Israeli media

Many Palestinian detainees in Israeli custody are unaccounted for, with the army denying any knowledge of their whereabouts, according to Israeli media on Monday.

“The fate of many Palestinians from Gaza who were detained by the Israeli army is unknown,” said Haaretz. “The army claims that there is no indication that those Palestinians have been detained, despite the fact that they were last seen by the soldiers or before their arrest.”

The newspaper said that Palestinians and rights groups have filed 27 petitions to Israeli courts to know the fate of those detainees. “Most of these petitions, however, were rejected,” it added. “But in some cases, the petitions led the army to re-examine to find out that the people the army claims it has no information about were in Israeli detention centers or had died.”

UN statement: Israel’s assault on the foundations of int’l law must have consequences

Israel must face the consequences of its campaign to undermine the legal framework for the protection of civilians in armed conflicts, a group of independent human rights experts* said today, as the full-scale armed assault on Gaza and forced displacement of its population continues unabated.

“As we have repeatedly reminded Israel, international humanitarian law comprises a set of universal and binding rules to protect civilian objects and persons who are not, or are no longer, directly participating in hostilities and limits permissible means and methods of warfare,” the experts said.

“Rather than abide by these rules, Israel has openly defied international law time and again, inflicting maximum suffering on civilians in the occupied Palestinian territory and beyond.”

Citing Israel’s most egregious violations, the experts highlighted crimes against humanity including murder, torture, sexual violence, and repeated forced displacement amounting to forcible transfer, war crimes encompassing indiscriminate attacks on civilians and civilian objects, including objects indispensable to the survival of the civilian population and educational institutions and cultural heritage, the use of starvation as a weapon of war, the targeting of healthcare workers and health facilities, attacks on humanitarian workers, arbitrary restrictions on access to humanitarian aid, and attacks on journalists, collective punishment and perfidy…

“Israel’s continued impunity sends a dangerous message suggesting that parties to other conflicts around the world need not comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law,” they said. “We cannot afford to lose the force of the multilateral system. Israel and its leaders must be held accountable.”

UN special rapporteur calls for global medical boycott of Israel

Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on Palestine, has urged medical professionals around the world to sever ties with Israel as a direct response to the destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system.

“I urge medical professionals worldwide to pursue the severance of all ties with Israel as a concrete way to forcefully denounce Israel’s full destruction of the Palestinian healthcare system in Gaza, a critical tool of its ongoing genocide,” Albanese said on X.

Her comments reflect growing international concern about the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where hospitals and clinics have been targeted and overwhelmed by relentless violence.

    STATISTICS OCTOBER 7, 2023 – DECEMBER 30, 2024:

Palestinian death toll from October 7, 2023 – December 30, 2024: at least 46,377* – 45,541 in Gaza; in the West Bank, Israeli soldiers and/or settlers have killed at least 836 Palestinians (~172 of them children).

Thousands of those killed in Gaza have yet to be identified, and an estimated 11,000 more are still buried under rubble.

According to a report in the Lancet, by multiplying the reported deaths by five, it is possible to reach a conservative estimate of total deaths (including indirect causes like starvation and lack of medicine). Using the latest figure from AFP (45,541), it is reasonable to estimate at least 227,705 total deaths in Gaza since October 7th, 2023.

According to a recent report by the UN Human Rights Office of identified fatalities in Gaza, about 44% were children. It is reasonable to estimate that 20,038 of known direct deaths and 100,190 of the total deaths are children.

Since Israel launched an extermination campaign in northern Gaza in early October, over 4,000 Palestinians have been killed or are missing and another 12,000 wounded.

Palestinian injuries from October 7, 2023 – December 30, 2024: at least 114,689 (including at least 108,338 in Gaza and 6,500 in the West Bank, including 830 children). [It remains unknown how many Americans are among the casualties in Gaza.]

Reported Israeli death toll from October 7, 2023 – December 30, 2024: ~1,595 (~1,139 on October 7, 2023, of which ~32 were Americans, and ~36 were children); 417*** (or 391) military forces since the ground invasion began in Gaza (updated: Dec. 17); 43 military and civilians in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Israel) and~10,000 injured.

NOTE: It is unknown at this time how many of the deaths and injuries of Israelis on October 7 were caused by Israeli soldiers.

ADDITIONAL STATISTICS: Since October 7th, 2023:

At least 50 Palestinians have died in Israeli prisons (at least 30 of them from Gaza).
At least 43 Palestinians have died due to malnutrition (at least 37 of them children)**.
About 1.9 million of Gaza’s 2.3 million population are currently displaced.
About 345,000 Gazans are currently experiencing catastrophic levels of food insecurity.
*The Ministry’s figures have been contested by the Israeli authorities, although they have been accepted as accurate by Israeli intelligence services, the UN, and WHO. These data are supported by independent analyses, comparing changes in the number of deaths of UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) staff with those reported by the Ministry, which found claims of data fabrication implausible.

Previously, IAK did not include 471 Gazans killed in the Al Ahli hospital blast since the source of the projectile was being disputed. However, given that much evidence points to Israel as the culprit, Israel had previously bombed the hospital and has attacked many others, Israel is prohibiting outside experts from investigating the scene, and since the UN and other agencies are including the deaths from the attack in their cumulative totals, if Americans knew is now also doing so.

**Euro-Med Monitor reports that Gaza’s elderly are dying at an alarmingly high rate. The majority die at home and are buried either close to their residences or in makeshift graves dispersed across the Strip. There are currently more than 140 such cemeteries. Additionally, according to Euromed, thousands have died from starvation, malnourishment, and inadequate medical care; these are considered indirect victims as they were not registered in hospitals.

***The figure does not include the reportedly 59 Israeli soldiers – nearly 17% of the total Israeli military deaths – killed due to friendly fire in Gaza and other military-related accidents.

† For most of the conflict, women and children accounted for about 70% of deaths in Gaza, with children making up a little over 40% of those killed, according to official statistics.

  • CDC Scientist: We Tried To ‘Destroy Vaccine-Autism Study Documents’
    Sharryl AtkissonJune 25, 2020
Written by on . Posted in Current News

A Centers for Disease Control (CDC) senior scientist has made an unprecedented admission: he and his colleagues–he says– committed scientific misconduct to cover up a meaningful link between vaccines and autism in black boys.

[PSI editor note: this article was first published in June 2016]

Just as startling, the CDC scientist, Dr. William Thompson, says the study co-authors “scheduled a meeting to destroy documents related to the study. The remaining four co-authors all met and brought a big garbage can into the meeting room, and reviewed and went through all the hardcopy documents that we had thought we should discard, and put them into a huge garbage can.”

“The…co-authors…brought a big garbage can into the meeting room… [and put the documents]…into a huge garbage can.” –CDC Senior Scientist Dr. William Thompson

Despite this whistleblower testimony, which Dr. Thompson provided to Rep. Bill Posey, R-Florida, there is little chance of a meaningful hearing or investigation.

In an untainted news environment, the allegations would make headlines in most legitimate publications and would trigger federal inquiries. However, the interests of the powerful pharmaceutical industry reach deeply into Congress and the news media through lobbyists, propaganda and advertising dollars.

“The omitted data suggested that African American males who received the MMR vaccine before age 36 months were at increased risk for autism.” –CDC Senior Scientist Dr. William Thompson

That’s why Congressman Posey resorted to simply reading some of Dr. Thompson’s statement today on the House floor…including the part in which Dr. Thompson says he retained the evidence that had been thrown in the garbage can, in the unlikely event that a neutral investigative or scientific body would like to see it today.

“[B]ecause I assumed it was illegal and would violate both FOIA [Freedom of Information Act] and DOJ [Department of Justice] requests, I kept hardcopies of all documents in my office, and I retain all associated computer files,” Posey quotes Dr. Thompson as reporting.

The CDC and Thompson’s co-author Dr. Frank DeStefano, CDC Director of Immunization Safety, have defended the controversial study as originally published. Dr. DeStefano explains why here in detail.

One final note: Rep. Posey unequivocally states that he is pro-vaccine. However, the propaganda campaign typically falsely portrays anyone who addresses vaccine safety issues as “anti-vaccine.”

CDC: Possibility that vaccines rarely trigger autism

Rep. Posey’s entire statement about Dr. Thompson:

“I rise today on matters of scientific integrity and research. To begin with, I am absolutely, resolutely, pro-vaccine. Advancements in medical immunization have saved countless and greatly benefitted public health. That being said, it’s troubling to me that in a recent Senate hearing on childhood vaccinations, it was never mentioned that our government has paid out over $3 billion through a vaccine injury compensation program for children who have been injured by vaccinations.

“Regardless of the subject matter, parents making decisions about their children’s health deserve to have the best information available to them. They should be able to count on federal agencies to tell them the truth. For these reasons, I bring the following matter to the House floor.

“In August 2014, Dr. William Thompson, a senior scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, worked with a whistleblower attorney to provide my office with documents related to a 2004 CDC study that examined the possibility of a relationship between [the] mumps, measles, rubella vaccine and autism. In a statement released in August, 2014, Dr. Thompson stated, ‘I regret that my co-authors and I omitted statistically significant information in our 2004 article published in the journal Pediatrics.’

“Mr. Speaker, I respectfully request the following excepts from the statement written by Dr. Thompson be entered into the record.

    “Now quoting Dr. Thompson.

“‘My primary job duties while working in the immunization safety branch from 2000 to 2006, were to later co-lead three major vaccine safety studies. The MADDSP, MMR autism cases control study was being carried out in response to the Wakefield-Lancet study that suggested an association between the MMR vaccine and an autism-like health outcome. There were several major concerns among scientists and consumer advocates outside the CDC in the fall of 2000, regarding the execution of the Verstraeten Study. One of the important goals that was determined up front, in the spring of 2001, before any of these studies started, was to have all three protocols vetted outside the CDC prior to the start of the analyses so consumer advocates could not claim that we were presenting analyses that suited our own goals and biases. We hypothesized that if we found statistically significant effects at either 18 or 36 month thresholds, we would conclude that vaccinating children early with MMR vaccine could lead to autism-like characteristics or features. We all met and finalized the study protocol and analysis plan. The goal was to not deviate from the analysis plan to avoid the debacle that occurred with the Verstraeten thimerosal study published in Pediatrics in 2003.

‘At the Sept 5th meeting we discussed in detail how to code race for both the sample and the birth certificate sample. At the bottom of table 7, it also shows that for the non-birth certificate sample, the adjusted race effect statistical significance was huge.

‘All the authors and I met and decided sometime between August and September 2002, not to report any race effects from the paper. Sometime soon after the meeting, we decided to exclude reporting any race effects. The co-authors scheduled a meeting to destroy documents related to the study. The remaining four co-authors all met and brought a big garbage can into the meeting room, and reviewed and went through all the hardcopy documents that we had thought we should discard, and put them into a huge garbage can. However, because I assumed it was illegal and would violate both FOIA and DOJ requests, I kept hardcopies of all documents in my office, and I retain all associated computer files. I believe we intentionally withheld controversial findings from the final draft of the Pediatrics paper.’

“Mr. Speaker, I believe it is our duty to insure that the documents that Dr. Thompson are not ignored. Therefore I will provide them to members of Congress and the House Committees upon request. Considering the nature of the whistleblower’s documents as well as the involvement of the CDC, a hearing and a thorough investigation is warranted.

“So I ask, Mr. Speaker, I beg, I implore my colleagues on the appropriations committees to please, please take such action.”

  • Israel continues to wreak havoc across Palestine, Lebanon – Day 422

Gaza’s health ministry says Israeli strikes have killed 36 Palestinians and wounded 96 others in the latest 24-hour reporting period.

At least 25 people were killed when Israeli warplanes hit and leveled an inhabited home in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, a local source said on Monday. Women and children were sheltering there.

More than 3,700 people have been killed or reported missing during 60 days of Israeli military’s operations in northern Gaza, the enclave’s media office said Monday. 1,750 are reported detained.

In Lebanon, in spite of a ceasefire, Israeli forces killed at least 11 on Monday.

There are no ‘humanitarian zones’ or ‘evacuation orders’ in Gaza

As you read this, many families in Gaza are weighing whether they should flee their current shelter and risk having to endure the harsh winter out on the streets or risk being bombed and killed where they are. There is no guarantee that they will be safe from Israel’s bombs and bullets if they choose either option.

These are dilemmas no human should ever have to endure, yet recent research by Action For Humanity found that 98 percent of the 200,000 people in the “humanitarian zones” in central Gaza have had to wrestle with them. In fact, according to our findings, more than a quarter of these people have had to move 10 or more times in the past 13 months.

The research, based on the testimonies of displaced Palestinians on the ground, revealed that Israel’s “evacuation orders” often give people just an hour, and sometimes even less, to pack up what remains of their lives and run for their lives. And when they agree to “evacuate”, they are often still chased by a hail of bullets as they try to find new shelter in another “humanitarian zone”.

The devastating details in the report, titled Erasure by Design, make it clear that there are no real humanitarian zones in Gaza and that the “evacuation orders” Israel issues are not aimed at getting Palestinians out of harm’s way. The use of these terms by Israel, its allies and international media serve only to whitewash what is happening before our eyes in Gaza: land grabs under the threat of extermination.

It is doing so to ensure nowhere in Gaza is safe for Palestinians. It is trying to kill two birds with one stone: creating the illusion of adherence to humanitarian law while laying the groundwork for illegally expanding Israeli territory.

The reality on the ground is clear: There are no “humanitarian zones” or “evacuation orders” but only threats of extermination and islands of medieval suffering not fit for basic survival, let alone dignified living.

Israeli army razes 600 buildings in Gaza to build dozens of military bases, expand Netzarim Corridor

The Israeli army has been expanding its construction of military bases, outposts, and communication towers in the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza, the New York Times (NYT) reported on 2 December.

The military has demolished over 600 buildings around the corridor in the past three months “in an apparent attempt to create a buffer zone,” the report states.

Satellite images reviewed by NYT showed the Israeli army has built at least 19 large bases throughout the area and dozens of small ones, suggesting plans for a long-term occupation.

“While some were built earlier in the war, the imagery also shows that the pace of construction appears to be accelerating: 12 of the bases were either built or expanded since early September,” NYT writes.

As a result of the construction, the corridor has slowly grown into a 46.6 square-kilometer military zone occupied by Israeli forces.

Hamas says 33 Israeli captives killed in Gaza

Hamas says 33 captives held by the group in Gaza have been killed since the start of Israel’s nearly 14-month-old war in the besieged enclave.

The group issued a video statement on Monday saying the captives were killed “because of the stubbornness of the war criminal” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and “his ongoing aggression”.

Hamas made the announcement as key mediators, including Egypt, Qatar and the United States, launch another effort to reach a ceasefire that would see the release of Israeli captives.

The push comes after a recent truce in Lebanon raised hope for a diplomatic breakthrough.

Hamas’s video lists and dates the incidents in which the group said captives were killed. Most of them were air strikes. However, some were rescue attempts by the Israeli military gone wrong.

Hamas offered to release all Israeli hostages in the early days of the war.

B’Tselem: “Unleashed: Abuse of Palestinians by Israeli Soldiers in the Center of Hebron”

In the West Bank, the view of all Palestinians as enemies who should be treated with unyielding force is translating into further oppression of the entire civilian population, by the various arms of the Israeli regime.

A record number of Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in 2024, and the number of detentions and administrative detainees reached a historic high.

Since the beginning of the war, many attacks on Palestinians by soldiers and settlers have been documented throughout the West Bank. The attacks were aimed at Palestinians suspected of no wrongdoing and often carried out in plain sight, in full view of officers and commanders.

Soldiers are being urged to take more “proactive” and “offensive” actions, while the public is demanding – or, at least, accepting – revenge on all Palestinians for the crimes of Hamas.

They see themselves as authorized to play the role of prosecutor, judge and executioner in any encounter with a Palestinian. In practice, every soldier has been granted virtually unlimited power to use violent means of oppression.

They know they will not be held accountable for their conduct.

B’Tselem’s field researchers gathered testimonies from Palestinians who were attacked by soldiers in the city center of Hebron between May and August 2024. Their accounts indicate a rise in the scope, type and severity of violence that soldiers are currently employing against Palestinians in the West Bank.

Israel has demolished over 1,500 West Bank facilities in 2024, says UN

Israeli forces have demolished 1,528 Palestinian-owned structures in the occupied West Bank since the start of the year, according to the latest figures published by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The UN data, published on 29 November, indicated that 3,637 Palestinians have been displaced as a result of an ongoing Israeli demolition campaign.

The destroyed infrastructure included inhabited residences (700), agricultural infrastructure (398), and livelihood-related assets (205), such as shops and businesses.

‘Significant progress’ made by Hamas, Fatah on post-war Gaza govt: Report

Hamas and the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) Fatah party have made “significant progress” towards forming a joint governing body to administer a post-war Gaza Strip during talks in the Egyptian capital Cairo, Al-Araby al-Jadeed reported on 2 December.

The source said, “There is a general consensus among all on the need to seize the opportunity to resolve the differences and end the suffering of the Palestinian people.”

In late July this year, Hamas, Fatah, and 12 other Palestinian factions signed a Chinese-brokered reconciliation agreement during meetings in Beijing.

Washington has been pushing its own plans for post-war Gaza, which involves the installment of a “reformed” PA under the tutelage of an Arab-International mission.

The Palestinian resistance factions have rejected western initiatives for post-war Gaza and maintain that the fate of their people must remain in their hands.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to reject the PA and Fatah’s involvement in any post-war government in Gaza. The premier has advanced his own plans for the ‘day after’ the war, which involves indefinite Israeli security control over the strip.

Israel strikes Lebanon again and again, but hopes ceasefire will hold

Israel has a unique and unilateral interpretation of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, whereby Israel has given itself the right to enforce that agreement with “fire”. So far, according to UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, Israel has broken the ceasefire at least 100 times.

These were the words of the Israeli army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, “We will maintain the ceasefire with fire”, meaning that Israel can strike at Hezbollah on Lebanese territory and beyond.

Israel views any infraction, any movement, any activity of Hezbollah as a violation that it has the right to respond to.

US envoy Amos Hochstein has expressed frustration and fear that these Israeli attacks could threaten this fragile ceasefire.

In the meantime, Israel continues striking but is still hoping that this ceasefire would hold.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar told his French counterpart in a phone call that his country is, in fact, enforcing the ceasefire – which stipulates Hezbollah’s withdrawal from the Israel-Lebanon border area – rather than violating it, Sa’ar said on X Monday.

On Monday alone, in spite of the ceasefire, Israeli forces killed at least 11 Lebanese.

Over 500 digital rights violations against Palestinian content recorded in November: Report

Sada Social, an organization dedicated to documenting digital rights violations against Palestinian content online, reported over 500 violations in November.

The organization documented extensive digital suppression across multiple platforms in its monthly report.

Meta platforms accounted for 57% of the violations, followed by TikTok at 23%, YouTube at 13% and X at 7%.

Additionally, 30 WhatsApp accounts belonging to Palestinians were removed, including two news groups.

These actions deepen “digital policies that suppress Palestinian voices and limit their reach to audiences,” the organization said.

It also noted that a persistent “digital blackout” continued in northern Gaza, “severely hindering residents’ ability to communicate.”

    STATISTICS OCTOBER 7, 2023 – DECEMBER 2, 2024:

Palestinian death toll from October 7, 2023 – December 2, 2024: at least 45,303* ( 44,502 in Gaza* – 69% are women and children, according to Gaza’s Media Office). [The Ministry’s figures have been contested by the Israeli authorities, although they have been accepted as accurate by Israeli intelligence services, the UN, and WHO. These data are supported by independent analyses, comparing changes in the number of deaths of UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) staff with those reported by the Ministry, which found claims of data fabrication implausible.]

This is expected to be a significant undercount since thousands of those killed have yet to be identified. This does not include an estimated 10,000 more in Gaza still buried under rubble (4,900 women and children).

In the West Bank, Israeli soldiers and/or settlers have killed at least 801 Palestinians (~167 of them children).

In July 2024, the Lancet said: “Applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death to the 37,396 deaths reported, it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186,000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza.

Ralph Nader earlier estimated 300,000 Palestinians may have been killed in Gaza.

At least 60 Palestinians have died in Israeli prisons (at least 47 from Gaza).
At least 43 Palestinians have died due to malnutrition (at least 37 of them children)**.
About 1.9 million of Gaza’s 2.3 million population are currently displaced.
About 345,000 Gazans are currently experiencing catastrophic levels of food insecurity.
Palestinian injuries from October 7 – December 2, 2024: at least 111,904 (including at least 105,454 in Gaza and 6,450 in the West Bank, including 830 children). [It remains unknown how many Americans are among the casualties in Gaza.]

Reported Israeli death toll from October 7, 2023 – December 2, 2024: ~1,584 (~1,139 on October 7, 2023, of which ~32 were Americans, and ~36 were children); 406*** military forces since the ground invasion began in Gaza (updated: Nov 29); 39 military and civilians in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Israel) and~10,000 injured.

The death toll in Lebanon since October 8, 2023 is at least 3,961, with 16,520 injuries.

NOTE: It is unknown at this time how many of the deaths and injuries of Israelis on October 7 were caused by Israeli soldiers.

Israel continues to wreak havoc across Palestine, Lebanon – Day 422 [email protected] December 3, 2024 digital rights violation, extermination, Hebron, home demolition, israeli hostages, lebanon ceasefire, netzarim corridor Palestinians who fled their homes due to Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip struggle with cold weather conditions in makeshift tents, in the southern city of Khan Younis, November 25, 2024 (Hassan Jedi/Anadolu Agency) Compilation of news reports – IAK staff Gaza’s health ministry says Israeli strikes have killed 36 Palestinians and wounded 96 others in the latest 24-hour reporting period. Palestinians try to extinguish the fire in a store after an Israeli attack on the Omar al-Mukhtar market in Gaza City on Monday, Dec. 2 Palestinians try to extinguish the fire in a store after an Israeli attack on the Omar al-Mukhtar market in Gaza City on Monday, Dec. 2 (Mahmoud Ä°ssa/Anadolu) There are no ‘humanitarian zones’ or ‘evacuation orders’ in Gaza As you read this, many families in Gaza are weighing whether they should flee their current shelter and risk having to endure the harsh winter out on the streets or risk being bombed and killed where they are. Israeli army razes 600 buildings in Gaza to build dozens of military bases, expand Netzarim Corridor The Israeli army has been expanding its construction of military bases, outposts, and communication towers in the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza, the New York Times (NYT) reported on 2 December. (Ahmad Salem/Bloomberg/Getty) B’Tselem: “Unleashed: Abuse of Palestinians by Israeli Soldiers in the Center of Hebron” In the West Bank, the view of all Palestinians as enemies who should be treated with unyielding force is translating into further oppression of the entire civilian population, by the various arms of the Israeli regime. (social media) ‘Significant progress’ made by Hamas, Fatah on post-war Gaza govt: Report Hamas and the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) Fatah party have made “significant progress” towards forming a joint governing body to administer a post-war Gaza Strip during talks in the Egyptian capital Cairo, Al-Araby al-Jadeed reported on 2 December. The source said, “There is a general consensus among all on the need to seize the opportunity to resolve the differences and end the suffering of the Palestinian people.” In late July this year, Hamas, Fatah, and 12 other Palestinian factions signed a Chinese-brokered reconciliation agreement during meetings in Beijing. Israel strikes Lebanon again and again, but hopes ceasefire will hold Israel has a unique and unilateral interpretation of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, whereby Israel has given itself the right to enforce that agreement with “fire”. • Israel blocks food aid, rejects ‘biased’ warning of famine in Gaza – Day 399
[email protected] November 10, 2024 Adham Al-Masri, famine, humanitarian aid, starvation in gaza

“The rocket struck them. There were no wanted or targeted people there and there was nobody else in the street. Just the children who were killed,” said Mohammed Zanoun, a relative of the dead children.

Among the dead were two journalist siblings – Ahmad Abu Sakhil and Zahra Abu Sakhil – together with their father, Muhammad. The number of journalists killed since October 2023 stands at 188.

NOTE: The UN Human Rights Office recently stated that it has found close to 70 per cent of the dead in Gaza to be children and women, indicating a systematic violation of the fundamental principles of international humanitarian law, including distinction and proportionality.

Israeli forces execute three Gaza detainees shortly after release

Israeli occupation forces executed three Palestinians from the Gaza Strip this afternoon, shortly after releasing them from detention. The men had been detained during Israel’s military offensive on northern Gaza in early October.

According to local sources and eyewitnesses, the detainees were freed from Israeli custody at the Zikim military base near the northern Gaza border. After their release, the Israeli navy targeted the three men with gunfire from warships as they were near Al-Khalidi Mosque, along the coastal road northwest of Gaza City.

The victims, identified as two elderly men, Ali and Nadi Ma’arouf, and young man Hamza Al-Hato, were transferred to the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, where their bodies were received.

Ethnic cleansing taking place during news void in north Gaza: Media group

The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) says Israel has stepped up systematic attacks on journalists and media infrastructure since the start of its northern Gaza campaign.

Israeli strikes killed at least five journalists in October and Israeli forces began a smear campaign against six Al Jazeera journalists reporting on the north, it said.

“There are now almost no professional journalists left in the north to document what several international institutions have described as an ethnic cleansing campaign. Israel has not allowed international media independent access to Gaza in the 13 months since the war began,” CPJ said in a statement.

“It seems clear that the systematic attacks on the media and campaign to discredit those few journalists who remain is a deliberate tactic to prevent the world from seeing what Israel is doing there,” said CPJ Program Director Carlos Martinez de la Serna.

“Reporters are crucial in bearing witness during a war, without them the world won’t be able to write history.”

Israeli Soldiers Kill A Palestinian In Tubas

On Saturday, Israeli soldiers killed a Palestinian and injured two others in ‘Aqqaba town, north of Tubas, in the occupied West Bank’s northeastern part.

Media sources reported that the invasion was initially conducted by undercover soldiers who surrounded a home while military helicopters and drones flew overhead and over several areas of Tubas.

The sources added that the soldiers attacked the surrounded home with live fire, causing extensive damage, killing Adham Zayed Ezzat Al-Masri, 25, before taking his body away.

The soldiers also fired barrages of live rounds during the invasion, wounding a 50-year-old Palestinian with a live round to the chest. Medics rushed him to a hospital where his wounds were described as serious.

Additionally, the soldiers assaulted another 49-year-old Palestinian, causing lacerations and bruises to several parts of his body.

Since the beginning of the Israeli military onslaught against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed 781 Palestinians in the West Bank, including 167 children, and injured 6,300.

NYT: Israeli officials briefed Jared Kushner on Gaza war for several months

For several months, Israeli officials have given briefings about the war in Gaza to Jared Kushner, Mr. Trump’s son-in-law, who worked on Middle East issues during his first term, and David Friedman, who served as Mr. Trump’s ambassador to Israel, said two Israeli officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive meetings.

    STATISTICS OCTOBER 7, 2023 – NOVEMBER 9, 2024:

Palestinian death toll from October 7, 2023 – November 9, 2024: at least 44,384* ( 43,603 in Gaza* – 69% are women and children, according to Gaza’s Media Office).

In the West Bank, Israeli soldiers and/or settlers have killed at least 781 Palestinians (~167 of them children).

At least 60 Palestinians have died in Israeli prisons.
At least 41 Palestinians have died due to malnutrition (at least 37 of them children)**.
About 1.9 million of Gaza’s 2.3 million population are currently displaced.
About 345,000 Gazans are currently experiencing catastrophic levels of food insecurity.
Palestinian injuries from October 7 – November 9, 2024: at least 109,229 (including at least 102,929 in Gaza and 6,300 in the West Bank, including 830 children). [It remains unknown how many Americans are among the casualties in Gaza.]

Reported Israeli death toll from October 7, 2023 – November 9, 2024: ~1,574 (~1,139 on October 7, 2023, of which ~32 were Americans, and ~36 were children); 396*** military forces since the ground invasion began in Gaza (most recent: Nov 2); 39 military and civilians in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Israel) and~10,000 injured.

The death toll in Lebanon since October 8, 2023 is at least 3,136, with 13,979 injuries. An estimated 1.34 million have been displaced.

NOTE: It is unknown at this time how many of the deaths and injuries of Israelis on October 7 were caused by Israeli soldiers.

*Previously, IAK did not include 471 Gazans killed in the Al Ahli hospital blast since the source of the projectile was being disputed.
