  • I was in Baguio Cathedral when I got the news that I passed the Bar Exam. I won’t deny it, I cried and said a prayer. Then the song ‘Amare et Servire’ was sung by the choir.
????In omnibus amare. (In everything, love.)
In omnibus servire. (In everything, serve.)
In ominibus amare et servire Domino.
In everything, love and serve the Lord! ????
Looking back, I was not prepared for the Bar Exam. I only felt the pressure to study a week before the Exam. I read at least 500 pages every day, trying to compress everything in a very short period of time. I was not able to finish all the reviewers that I printed.
Some may call it as overconfidence but I strongly believe that the University of San Agustin has greatly prepared me for the Exam. It was not just a week of review but in fact, four years. Law school has prepared me for the toughest battle.
I got sick a week before the swab test. I am not certain if it was the effect of the booster shot or was really COVID-19. I considered the swab test as somehow the very first day of the Exam. It’s a make or break. I was ready to fail it and go home.
God has always guided me every step of the way. He blessed, protected and fortified me. There were many times when I failed to recognize His hands that make every thing works for me.
Before going to the Bar Exam venue, we always passed by the Jaro Cathedral. I prayed for His guidance and asked for signs. My prayer was that if it is His will to make me a lawyer, I will do my best to use it for greater good and justice.
The song ‘Amare et Servire’ was His sign to me. It made me realize that every thing was already prepared and set by Him from the time I quitted the seafaring profession up to this day.
I am not yet sure as to the next path that I will take. But one thing is certain right now, in everything, love and serve the Lord. I know that He will continuously guide me to always choose right from wrong and not to give in to temptations.
