• Landmark ICJ ruling says world must act to end Israel’s illegal occupation

Nawaf Salam, president of the International Court of Justice, delivered a landmark advisory opinion on 19 July. (ICJ)
In a landmark ruling announced on Friday, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s continued presence in the West Bank and Gaza, occupied by its military and heavily colonized by its settlers since 1967, to be unlawful.

The tribunal, which is composed of 15 judges and is also known as the World Court, stated that Israel is obliged to “bring an end to its unlawful presence in the occupied Palestinian territory as rapidly as possible,” halt all new settlement activity and evacuate all settlers.
Israel is also obliged to make reparations, the court declared, and other states and international organizations must not “recognize as legal” Israel’s presence in the occupied territory or render assistance in maintaining the occupation.

The court confirmed that the obligation to affirmatively act to end the illegal occupation does not fall on Israel alone, but on all states.
All countries around the world are “under an obligation not to render aid or assistance in maintaining the situation created by Israel’s illegal presence” in the occupied Palestinian territories, the judges stated in their ruling.

States must ensure that “any impediment resulting from the illegal presence of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory to the exercise of the Palestinian people of its right to self-determination is brought to an end,” the judges add, in what can be seen as an endorsement of international sanctions on Israel.

Similarly, the judges stated, all countries that have signed the Fourth Geneva Convention, which protects the rights of civilian populations under military occupation, “have the obligation … to ensure compliance by Israel with international humanitarian law as embodied in that convention.”

The court added that the United Nations, especially the General Assembly and Security Council, “should consider the precise modalities and further action required to bring to an end as rapidly as possible the unlawful presence of the State of Israel in the occupied Palestinian territory.”

    Long road to justice

The court’s advisory opinion was rendered following a request by the General Assembly in late 2022 to determine the legal consequences arising from Israel’s continued presence in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The principal judicial organ of the United Nations, the court hears both legal disputes between states and considers requests for advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it within the UN system.

The tribunal is separately considering a complaint initiated by South Africa alleging that Israel is perpetrating genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. The court found a plausible risk of genocide in an interim ruling handed down in late January.

The International Court of Justice is independent and distinct from the International Criminal Court, which is also based in The Hague and opened an investigation into alleged war crimes in the West Bank and Gaza in March 2021.

Fatou Bensouda, the International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor at the time, identified Israel’s settlement enterprise in the West Bank as a primary focus of her investigation.

But the court’s current prosecutor, Karim Khan, appears to have largely disregarded Bensouda’s work and has requested warrants for the arrest of the leadership of Israel and Hamas for alleged crimes perpetrated on and since 7 October 2023.

Palestinians have long advocated for international institutions such as the United Nations to examine Israel’s system of repression as a whole, rather than treating its violations of Palestinian rights in a fragmented manner while ignoring the context of settler-colonialism in which they occur.

    Impunity

Friday’s advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice is not the first time that the tribunal has weighed in on Israel’s occupation and annexation of Palestinian land.

In July 2004, the court issued an advisory opinion determining that Israel’s construction of a wall in the occupied West Bank and its associated settlement regime violated international law.

In the 2004 case, as in the new advisory opinion, the court held that Israel was obliged to “terminate its breaches of international law and to make reparation for all damage caused,” as the Palestinian human rights Al-Haq summarizes in a briefing paper published on the eve of Friday’s ruling. The court also maintained two decades ago that states were obliged “not to recognize the illegal situation” resulting from those violations.

However, as Al-Haq observes, enforcement of the court’s 2004 advisory opinion “has been unacceptably weak, a situation which has greatly contributed to the environment of impunity in which Israel has accelerated and expanded its commission of abuses against Palestinians.”

Ahead of the advisory opinion delivered on Friday, nearly 60 countries weighed in on the question of the legal consequences arising from Israel’s continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory.

“The overwhelming majority” of those interventions during the hearings “expressed the view that Israel’s occupation of Palestine is characterized by unlawful policies and practices,” Al-Haq states.

The majority of the opinions presented before the court expressed the positions that Israel’s occupation violates the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination; that Israel practices apartheid or systematic racial discrimination in the West Bank and Gaza; and that “the occupation itself is illegal as a whole” and must end immediately, according to Al-Haq.

Significantly, a handful of states, including the Netherlands and China, recognized “the legitimacy of armed struggle and the use of force to achieve the inalienable right to self-determination” in the context of liberation from colonial rule.

Libya expressed the position that “it is a moral and legal obligation for third states to assist and support Palestinians in their legitimate struggle for liberation and independence,” as Al-Haq summarizes.

    “No more excuses”

Following the announcement of the court’s opinion on Friday, Israel’s foreign ministry predictably rejected the opinion as “fundamentally wrong” and biased, while Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, said that “the Jewish nation cannot be an occupier in its own land.”

Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s far-right finance minister, issued a call to formally annex the West Bank in response to the court.

By contrast, the Palestinian mission to the UN as well as human rights and advocacy groups celebrated the ruling.

Al Mezan, a human rights group based in Gaza, stated that it “sets clear legal obligations for third states and international organizations, and we demand full compliance.”

The group noted that the court backed its position that “Israel’s effective control over Gaza meets the definition of belligerent occupation, imposing obligations on Israel … with regards to the over two million Palestinians living there.”

Al-Haq, which is based in the West Bank, said that the new advisory opinion “is a first step towards rectifying the generational harm of Israel’s illegal occupation, ongoing Nakba, settler-colonialism and apartheid to the Palestinian people, which must be ended, and all Israeli discriminatory measures and legislation repealed.”

The Palestinian Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions National Committee (BNC) said that the ruling “demands imposing immediate targeted sanctions on Israel, starting with a comprehensive military embargo.”

B’Tselem, an Israeli human rights organization, reacted to the court ruling by stating “no more excuses. The international community must force Israel to end the occupation.”

Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the West Bank and Gaza Strip, likewise said it was a “historic day for international justice and the decolonization of Palestine.”

    ICJ rejects Oslo cover

The advisory opinion clearly establishes the illegality of Israel’s occupation of the territories occupied since 1967 and reaffirms the illegality of the acquisition of territory by force.

It also affirms that the Oslo accords signed by Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization in the mid-1990s do not relieve Israel of its legal obligations.

The bilateral negotiations initiated with the Oslo accords have been “non-existent for more than 10 years,” as Judge Nawaf Salam, the Lebanese president of the International Court of Justice, observes in his declaration appended to the advisory opinion.

Yet the framework of bilateral negotiations, however long dead, have been used by Israel’s allies, principally the US and European states, as a pretext to preserve the situation of impunity and treat Palestinian rights as subject to negotiation – a situation that the Palestinian writer Ghassan Kanafani presciently described in 1970 as “a conversation between the sword and the neck.”

Indeed, Israel in its intervention to the International Court of Justice said that an advisory opinion would be “harmful” to the peace process, while the US urged the court to avoid issuing a decision that could undermine negotiations toward a two-state solution.

Diana Buttu, a lawyer and former negotiator with the Palestine Liberation Organization, said that one of the big takeaways of the court ruling is “that it puts to rest the idea that Palestinians must negotiate an end to Israel’s military rule.”

“No land swaps; no accommodating settlers; no ‘generous offers’ because it isn’t Israel’s land to be generous with,” Buttu added.

This finding is particularly important as Washington and Tel Aviv are trying to impose a similar framework in the context of Gaza, forcing Palestinians to “negotiate” an end to Israel’s American-backed genocide.
    “Scarce” victory

Yet the ruling may be viewed as legitimizing the violent usurpation of Palestinian land for the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 – the ongoing injustice from which the 1967 occupation stems.

By limiting the scope of the advisory opinion to the question of the occupation since 1967, the General Assembly would seem to be normalizing the theft and colonization of Palestinian land in 1948, for which the UN paved the way through its inherently unjust 1947 partition plan.

In his declaration, President Salam points out that the failure of Israel to respect the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination “dates back to 1948 and not 1967,” as the General Assembly acknowledged in Resolution 32/20, adopted in 1977.

But Friday’s watershed advisory opinion – an “earthquake,” according to international lawyer Michael Sfard – provides more legal levers for those defending Palestinian rights today, according to Alonso Gurmendi, a lecturer in international law at King’s College London.

“Do not discount the power of authoritative statements in the formation of world order,” Gurmendi stated. “Especially when world order is already changing so fundamentally.”

“Celebrate victories, they are few and scarce,” he added.

And while nothing may seem changed tomorrow, expect third states to “reconsider the nature of their relations with Israel” – commercial, military, economic and diplomatic – in the coming weeks and months, Sfard stated.

  • Non-Lethal Weapons Now Used as a Label for Self-Defense: Closer Review and Public Discussion Needed in This Age of Promoted Social Harassment
Don't Forget Unlicensed Radio Devices: Why on earth are they allowed on planes?

    Ramola D
Recent finds on a search for non lethal weapons on light planes in conjunction with the FCC approval of intentional radiators and unlicensed radio devices on manned and unmanned aircraft, discussed recently here—https://everydayconcerned.net/2024/07/14/treasonous-sorties-fcc-approval-of-high-frequency-short-range-radars-spotlights-the-targeted-assault-millions-report-intentional-radiators-unlicensed-radio-devices-low-flying-aircraft/—reveal that “self defense” has now become a category in which such weaponry, unlawfully being used on people worldwide today, is being surfaced.

Is this how these tech-transferred military weapons are now being silently slipped into social awareness and use, without public disclosure at time of development and “testing” on people, without public discourse and debate, and without public approval?

But what exactly are the weapons being surfaced here—are they the electromagnetic weapons and acoustic weapons developed by the Joint Steering Program Group involving both DARPA and DOJ, or by the DOD and its contractors? A look at these articles suggests some of them are:

    https://shadowfoxhq.com/non-lethal-weapons-plane/

    https://athlonoutdoors.com/article/non-lethal-self-defense-options/

    https://www.stunster.com/blog/tsa-guidelines-for-non-lethal-self-defense-devices-on-planes/

    Non-Lethal Self-Defense or Deadly Inhumane?

The “Best Non Lethal Self Defense Weapons-2023” article lists various scary looking guns and stun guns and electrical assault weapons like the Taser, known to be outright inhumane—is it possible such horrific electrical weapons could now be being sold to people as “non lethal self-defense”? These look like Conducted Electrical Weapons self-permitted to the police by the police; can anyone and everyone now step out and buy a few, to whack people with? How did this happen?

TSA Guidelines for Non Lethal Self Defense Devices

Perusing the TSA article it sounds like knives and “kubotans” —rods to knock people out with—are ok to carry in cabins on planes. But how on earth did this happen? Has the TSA changed so much? The article is dated March 2024. A brief look at the TSA website shows they don’t permit knives in carry-ons, nor “kirpans”—no mention of “kubotans.” Cattle prods and ice picks are ok to carry in checked luggage though, apparently. And crochet hooks and knitting needles are ok in carry-ons. [I’m not sure if we’re reading satire here.]

The TSA page is organized by category so perhaps closer review and writing to the TSA is in order here.

    https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/sharp-objects

As aware, educated, civic-minded Americans, this becomes one more task for all of us to stay focused on.

How Comfortable Would You Be Knowing Your Plane Mates, All Sudden Targeters and Socially Harassive Now, are Carrying Pulse Radar Devices in their Cell Phones & iPads?

According to the FCC, as covered here this week, pulse radar devices in the range 59.3 to 71.0 Ghz can be “installed in passengers’ personal portable equipment” for operations on-board aircraft.

Passengers pointing pulse radar devices at each other—how sane is that? But this is exactly what is happening today, what this writer has certainly witnessed and experienced herself, as directed at her.

Now how on earth is the TSA permitting this crazed behavior? Perhaps the TSA and FCC need to talk? And are people really letting the FBI, CIA, and DHS—who permit and set up these Pulsed-Radar-Pointing moments to sicken, debilitate, disable people on airplanes—get away with such crime? For how is this not crime?

As this writer has further experienced and is perfectly aware of, the TSA in fact lets on board many many more weapons of sickening and inhumanity than mere cell phones and iPads with pulse-radar devices installed, weapons often carried in seeming laptop cases or violin cases or long tubes and able to send ELFs into seats, vibrations and pulsations into bodies, and pulse microwave onto people’s backs and heads and hearts. [Necessitating shielding and vigilance on planes.]

“Community-Based Research,” “Community Policing,” “Community Monitoring” Which Has Bred Hatred, Racism, Discrimination, Rage, Anger, Misery, Despair Against and Between and Among People of All the Different Ethnicities Which Make Up America

People today in the USA—and probably the whole world—have learned to hate each other pretty well now, based on skin-color and hair-color and size and shape, as directed by the sad “security” and “police” and “intelligence” city bosses with lies in hand as in FBI-folders of lies, False-Claim-NSLs, long unfolding programs of nonstop false-allegation, attempted entrapping, attempted manufacture of crime and nonstop Psy Ops, Phoenix ops of street theatre, directed conversations and actions and moments, and studied, set-up harassment and targeting of select people in every neighborhood.

This is an atmosphere of social harassment and driven hate which defies American history and striving through colonialism, slavery, waves of immigration, and the striving for independence and expression of basic human and civil rights. We live in a world now where people distrust each other, are taught to hate and act against each other, and in fact enact crimes of racism and selective discrimination, crime, and harassment against each other.

In such an atmosphere, do any of us want to board planes where the TSA kindly lets people carry pocket knives and crochet hooks? Or Pulse Radar devices in smart phones and iPads? (A subject to be covered more extensively shortly.)

There is much here to get us all thinking and moving today, and much for each of us to do.

This writer advises that everyone, literally everyone, get up to speed on these subjects and contact the TSA and request that no-one, absolutely no-one is let on planes carrying augmented cell phones and iPads and other electronics permitting pulse wave microwave assault—hidden as “monitoring” “health monitoring” “Public Safety Monitoring” and other such—on other passengers.

Looking into this further online, “health monitoring” may be the way such things get authorized for use on planes, so perhaps that is the first subject to address. This article from Verizon shows that different kinds of monitors can be installed on smart phones, such as an “integrated heart monitor”:

    https://www.verizon.com/articles/what-can-a-smartphone-do/

The question of whether those engaging in such paid, mercenary “monitoring” assault on others will communicate the fact of their phones being augmented also rises. Perhaps all these are covert operations—in which case, how can the TSA address this best? Does the TSA really “care” about us?

This is obviously a huge subject which needs public discussion, but the information from the FCC establishes for us this is actually happening and being permitted by the TSA, by airlines, by the FAA, and by airport security—and shouldn’t be.

Please visit the TSA website and find someone to speak to or write to at the Contact Center: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/tsa-cares.

As passengers, we should All be able to fly—and visit airports—safe and free from pulsed radar and vibrations, gruesome headaches, sudden respiratory trouble, projectile vomiting and manufactured heart attacks, not to mention the threat of pocket knives from crazed graduate students in “Neuropsychiatry” aiming for Psych Terror, not just some of us.

A look at these articles suggests some of them are: https://shadowfoxhq.com/non-lethal-weapons-plane/ https://athlonoutdoors.com/article/non-lethal-self-defense-options/ https://www.stunster.com/blog/tsa-guidelines-for-non-lethal-self-defense-devices-on-planes/ Non-Lethal Self-Defense or Deadly Inhumane? The “Best Non Lethal Self Defense Weapons-2023” article lists various scary looking guns and stun guns and electrical assault weapons like the Taser, known to be outright inhumane—is it possible such horrific electrical weapons could now be being sold to people as “non lethal self-defense”? These look like Conducted Electrical Weapons self-permitted to the police by the police; can anyone and everyone now step out and buy a few, to whack people with? How did this happen? TSA Guidelines for Non Lethal Self Defense Devices Perusing the TSA article it sounds like knives and “kubotans” —rods to knock people out with—are ok to carry in cabins on planes. [I’m not sure if we’re reading satire here.] The TSA page is organized by category so perhaps closer review and writing to the TSA is in order here. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/sharp-objects As aware, educated, civic-minded Americans, this becomes one more task for all of us to stay focused on. [Necessitating shielding and vigilance on planes.] “Community-Based Research,” “Community Policing,” “Community Monitoring” Which Has Bred Hatred, Racism, Discrimination, Rage, Anger, Misery, Despair Against and Between and Among People of All the Different Ethnicities Which Make Up America People today in the USA—and probably the whole world—have learned to hate each other pretty well now, based on skin-color and hair-color and size and shape, as directed by the sad “security” and “police” and “intelligence” city bosses with lies in hand as in FBI-folders of lies, False-Claim-NSLs, long unfolding programs of nonstop false-allegation, attempted entrapping, attempted manufacture of crime and nonstop Psy Ops, Phoenix ops of street theatre, directed conversations and actions and moments, and studied, set-up harassment and targeting of select people in every neighborhood. (A subject to be covered more extensively shortly.) There is much here to get us all thinking and moving today, and much for each of us to do. This article from Verizon shows that different kinds of monitors can be installed on smart phones, such as an “integrated heart monitor”: https://www.verizon.com/articles/what-can-a-smartphone-do/ The question of whether those engaging in such paid, mercenary “monitoring” assault on others will communicate the fact of their phones being augmented also rises. As passengers, we should All be able to fly—and visit airports—safe and free from pulsed radar and vibrations, gruesome headaches, sudden respiratory trouble, projectile vomiting and manufactured heart attacks, not to mention the threat of pocket knives from crazed graduate students in “Neuropsychiatry” aiming for Psych Terror, not just some of us. https://ramolad.substack.com/p/non-lethal-weapons-now-used-as-a?utm_medium=web&triedRedirect=true

  • Tying Crooks into a FBI and Secret Service conspiracy
How might the pieces fit together?

    Neoliberal Feudalism
The most disturbing feat of propaganda has been the transformation of common sense into fringe conspiracy theory. - Theodore Atkinson

I know I wrote in a Note that my next post would be about the Redneck Rebellion, but there continue to be certain points that feel like they need to be fleshed out as I’m not seeing them elsewhere. I am posting more frequently now not just because the Trump assassination attempt was shocking on its own terms, but because of what globohomo likely planned to do in response to it if it had succeeded. That will likely be my next post. My hope is then that things will calm down and my weekly posting routine can resume, but we’ll see; developments are coming very fast now.

One of the questions being asked about the attempted Trump assassination, such as by Jasun Horsley in this extended exchange here, is if 20-year-old Thomas Crooks was part of a broader conspiracy, how was the conspiracy organized?

Now, I have no insider knowledge. The following is speculation based upon curious data points (which should all be looked at skeptically, given the amount of misinformation out there, whether intentional or not) and my own pretty consciously understood biases, discussed in the last post about grounding mechanisms.

Crooks apparently had a “limited” online presence according to authorities. Sundance is correct that this is not really believable; the youth are pretty ubiquitously addicted to technology. Due to Total Information Awareness his internet presence is not wipeable regardless of whatever Crooks did or not do on his own. It would still be in the NSA search database. There are also no recent photos of Crooks that have been released; they’re going off his high school yearbook photo - why? I suspect it would have revealed him as a deranged far leftist Antifa type (one of his classmates said he was a known Trump-hater). According to an article his internet history apparently shows searches for both Trump and Biden rallies; how convenient... You can see Crooks in a video here making some juvenile remarks.

The level of incompetence that the Secret Service displayed is mind-boggling. The Secret Service head Kimberly Cheatle refused to put a counter-sniper team on the roof of the below building which had direct line-of-access sight to Trump and was only 400 feet away; she claimed that it was because the building was “sloped”. The slope of the building was only 10 degrees, if that!

    The “sloped” building
The counter-sniper that eventually killed Crooks after he got off many shots was set up on a much more sloped building:

    The Secret Service counter-sniper team.
Secret Service basic protocol is to secure all line-of-sight positions that could hit the defended target; according to this video by a Special Forces sniper the level of incompetence displayed here is too great not to be intentional. He posted this on TikTok and apparently was banned by the service after posting it.

Now here’s the thing: because the Secret Service failed at a core, basic function of their job, Cheadle had to come up with an explanation, any explanation for the failure. The sloped roof comment is laughably flimsy (even Elon Musk mocked it). But Cheadle would rather have it thought that she and the Secret Service generally were incompetent (which is not totally implausible given she had a DEI goal of 30% of Secret Service agents be women by 2030) versus the attack was an intentional conspiracy, but it’s not working well due to the amount of evidence which is becoming too overwhelming to attribute properly to incompetence. Her superiors - the Biden Administration and criminal traitor DHS head Alejandro Mayorkas, who opened the southern border to 20 million illegal Democrat voters in the past four years alone - are backing her and she is not being forced to resign so far (because it is likely she was just following orders).

Crooks apparently wandered the rally for at least an hour before the attack, he was on the roof for half an hour, spotted by the counter-sniper team and tagged multiple times, Crooks used a range-finder to calculate distances to Trump which was observed by the public, he may have brought his own ladder to reach the roof, the crowd outside the rally pointed out his sniper position at least two minutes before the attack, a police officer climbed the ladder and Crooks’ gun was pointed at his head and the officer climbed back down, and apparently the Secret Service had orders not to take out an assassin until the assassin fired first, which is beyond insane. Take one of these facts in isolation and okay, maybe it was incompetence; but add them all up - again, assuming they are accurate - and the picture is very clearly one of intentional malice on the part of the Secret Service.

Apparently - if the below links are accurate - there may have been a large and highly unusual financial short put on Truth Social the day before the attempted assassination. Link 1, 2, 3. If Trump had been successfully assassinated, one would expect Truth Social to immediately implode, as the entire site revolves around access to Trump’s opinions. This reminds me of the shorts placed on airline stocks a day or two before 9/11.

Crooks’ barely missed shot, which has a great visual explanation here, reminds me of the final scene in the wonderful movie Day of the Jackal. The assassin did not anticipate de Gaulle leaning in at the last second:

Okay, so there’s a malicious Secret Service and a 20-year-old attempted assassin. What’s the connection between the two? The Secret Service doesn’t go out and solicit deranged leftist attackers. The likely scenario is that the FBI groomed Crooks from orders-on-high and, when certain he would make an attempt, informed the higher-ups who then leaned on the Secret Service to allow the attempt to happen. The motives for this were discussed in the first post on this topic: to create enormous Republican chaos before Trump had announced a Vice President (and there was no clear successor or front-runner to take the helm), as well as possibly to instigate the fabled Redneck Rebellion in order to then brutally crush it to formally usher in a hypercharged surveillance state, which will be discussed in perhaps my next post.

    How FBI grooming works

How does the government groom terrorists online work? Well, there’s no online manual, but from studying clues from publicly released information on a lot of these young terrorists the pattern seems to be like this:

The FBI does it on Reddit and a bunch of other places like Discord and Telegram. They strike up friendships with weird loners saying obnoxious stuff. They form parasocial relationships and text with them on Signal or Whatsapp. Then the FBI agent slowly encourages the target to turn violent. The mentality of the FBI agents doing this is not that they are directing terror attacks, but rather they are identifying latent threats before they manifested — they are being proactive instead of reactive — and the proof is that these guys become willing to go along with the incitement to violence, which both allows them to prosecute the target and stop a threat to the community. Of course, very few if any of these loners had the motive, means or opportunity to actually carry out an attack without the active support of the agents themselves. And any organization always feels big pressure to justify their budgets so they can grow in size, so the FBI has an insatiable appetite for so-called “terrorists”…

"I don't think anyone fully appreciates how demoralizing it is to be sitting across the table from a peace-loving man or woman from a foreign country, insinuating all kinds of baseless BS, attempting to coerce them to spy on their equally peaceful community," Terry Albury, a disillusioned former FBI agent who was convicted of leaking classified documents, told The New York Times, "but it was also my job." Read here if you want more details on this process.

After the target commits the terror attack, the FBI conducts an “investigation” into the shooter and attempts to scrub any incriminatory information.

There are numerous examples of this one can point to:

One example of this was probably Omar Mateen, the Muslim shooter of the Florida gay club whose father was an FBI informant.

Another was the Curtis Culwell Center attack in Texas which was well documented.

Another was the so-called Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping plot. See here for a great write-up on the details.

The case of the Liberty City Seven. “The Liberty City Seven case was a mess. It took three trials to convict five of the seven defendants. But it was still proof of concept for the government's new strategy of using informant-led stings and preemptive prosecutions to root out radicals with violent leanings.”

The case of Eric McDavid, convicted of plotting terrorism but he was really trying to impress a female undercover agent and the FBI withheld exculpatory information.

There’s the infamous FBI agent Ray Epps funneling people into the Capitol on 1/6.

One may also note that these “terror attacks” come in waves - in the late 80s and early 90s the “terrorists” were the rural patriot movement; then it shifted to become Islamic terror after 9/11, where there were dozens of Islamic attacks — then after Trump won in 2016, they almost universally dried up. Did they dry up because Trump was such a scary law-and-order guy that Muslim terrorists were no longer willing to commit attacks? This seems ridiculous; rather, the more obvious explanation is that the FBI which pushed particular types of attacks onto weak-minded, isolated losers changed their priority and focus.

There are likely a lot of others such as the 2023 Nashville school shooting by the tranny (where the FBI covered it up and wouldn’t release the terrorist’s manifesto), and also probably Crooks. They likely groomed him online like they've done to quite a few other terrorists then, when he was ready to go, they paved the way in gold for him to get his shots off, then they scrubbed his online presence and whitewashed it. The FBI investigators into the attack are the very same organization that likely MK-ultra'd this kid into being their mentally ill attempted assassin.

Plenty of plausible deniability for the authorities.

    undefined
    This is quite poor physiognomy
Now, to reiterate this is just a theory - a working, plausible theory that ties together the disparate elements of this attempted assassination, but there is no smoking gun for it at this time, nor do I expect there to be one publicly released.

By the way, it was difficult to do research for this post because both Bing and Google are heavily censoring search results. If you Bing images “Thomas Crooks” for example, nothing relevant comes up. They’re only getting better and better at censorship as the AI improves; eventually we will hit a point where globohomo will have total information control and we will not be able to find evidence supporting things we know to be true, or past events.

Lastly, if one accepts that this was a conspiracy, it looks like they very may well try again as a Plan B, possibly using an explosion by “Iran” as “revenge” for the murder of Soleimani in order to both eliminate Trump, push the U.S. into another Middle Eastern war on behalf of Israel, and use it as an excuse to clamp down on free speech on the internet.

    Thanks for reading.

    1
Putin, who runs the Russia branch on behalf of the central bank owners, runs incompetence shtick all the time regarding how he keeps getting fooled by his Western “partners”, to great effect. “Oh, I got fooled again, I’ll wake up and do better next time!” He’s really the master at this shtick. Rurik Skywalker covers this all the time at his excellent blog, the only one, along with Edward Slavsquat, to provide English language dissident analysis of what is occurring within Russia itself.

The target of incompetence shtick is preying on Christian notions of forgiveness.

    2
Yes, Christopher Wray is a Trump appointee. However, any Trump cabinet appointees had to be approved by a razor-slim margin Republican Senate, and globohomo stooge Mitch McConnell controlled at least a third of the Republicans in the Senate. In other words, the only individuals who could get past Senate confirmation were compromised globalist ideologues. Trump’s hands were tied on this. And the Republican/Democrat distinction has no meaning — James Comey was a registered Republican — what matters is one’s ideological outlook, i.e. oligarchical globalist vs. populist nationalist.

  • Israel murdered a family of bakers, but their recipe lives on

Israel murdered a family of bakers, but their recipe lives on
Gazan knafeh from the Saqallah family bakery. Gaza, 2017.
On most of my trips to Gaza, a common treat we enjoyed was Gazan knafeh, كنافة عربية, knafah arabiya. The typical image that comes to mind when thinking of knafeh is the cheesy kind found in Nablus. In Gaza, though, there is a special kind that can't be found anywhere else.

Unlike Nabulsi knafeh, Gazan knafeh is full of walnuts, nutmeg, and cinnamon, but notably, no cheese. It is nutty, hearty, and indescribably delicious. It is incredibly filling and pairs perfectly with coffee; a local delicacy that I wish everyone could try.

I would always look forward to having some at one of the most well known and famous knafeh shops in Gaza: Abu Al Saoud, also known as Saqallah's sweet shop.

Me standing in front of Abu Al Saoud (the Saqallah family's sweet shop). Gaza, 2017.
Before the on-going genocide, everyday Palestinians in Gaza suffered immensely from Israel's blockade and occupation. Their suffering is extremely well documented. They lived in a place where the number of calories allowed entry through the blockade per human being are computed like a math equation. Israel often adjusts the area of the Gazan sea where fishing is allowed which affects how much and what kinds of fish are available. It is clear that these actions are collective punishment with the goal to cause immense suffering upon a captive civilian population and demonstrate the immense control Israel has over Palestinians.

Despite all of this immense suffering, Gazans have found creative and ingenious ways to create delicious food with the very scarce resources they had access to, when they were available.

The Gaza Kitchen: A Palestinian Culinary Journey is a marvelous cookbook that catalogs local Gazan recipes combined with the stories of everyday Gazans. It even has the Saqallah family's knafeh arabiya recipe recorded for those with strong enough baking skills to attempt to reproduce at home.

As famine spreads across Gaza during the genocide happening now, I find myself plunged into sorrow and despair. I try to distract myself, but my thoughts constantly shift to my friends and their families who are still in Gaza. Will they starve to death? Why are we allowing this to happen? Why won't anyone do anything to stop this?

Close up shot of Gazan knafeh. Gaza, 2017.
In a futile attempt to quiet my mind, I began researching Gazan knafeh so that I could make an attempt at baking it at home. My naïve hope for a temporary distraction was shattered instantly. While researching the Saqallah family's recipe, I learned Israel brutally murdered 30 to 40 members of the Saqallah family in the early weeks of this genocide. Everyone who was in the family home was killed in an Israeli airstrike, leaving a horrific scene with "body parts flung on the ground."

An entire family summarily executed; another unspeakably horrific crime perpetrated by the Israeli government, among many, many more.

I don't even have the words to express the immense rage and anger that I felt when I stumbled on this while simply researching a dessert recipe.

Who knows how many family recipes, local delicacies, and tiny aspects of Gazan culture have already been lost forever in Israel's continued genocide and ethnic cleansing of Gaza?

As we watch these crimes against humanity streamed to us live on the internet, our "leaders" continue to support and embolden these actions by providing endless aid to the Israeli government with no strings attached. Why must an entire civilian population of millions be murdered, displaced, and have their culture erased? What greater purpose could this possibly serve?

In exceedingly rare instances, Gazan knafeh seems to slip through checkpoints. No one knows how. Gazan knafeh being shared at SnoBar in Ramallah, July 2023.
I am so incredibly thankful that the Saqallah family's recipe was recorded in The Gaza Kitchen. The simple act of recording a recipe is a tiny, but meaningful act of resistance against an oppressor with billions of dollars in military aid. Recording this recipe ensures it won't be lost and that it will continue to live on. It stands as a small, but powerful reminder that while the Israeli government can turn any brief moment of happiness in Gaza into a living nightmare, it will never succeed in its ultimate goal of deleting Gaza in its entirety.

The parts of Gaza in our photos, memories, stories, recipes, and hearts will live on forever and no one, not even the Israeli government, can ever take that away.

• Cured Meat: Curse or Cure?
Nitrites and Nitrates have been vilified, but they've been used for 1000s of years.

    Dr. Syed Haider

I was never convinced meat was inherently unhealthy, but anti-meat propaganda did get me to avoid cured meat for years, then one day I realized that people have been curing meat for centuries, basically using the same method we use today - i.e. adding nitrogen in the form of nitrate to meat, which is converted by bacteria within the meat into nitrite. The nitrite acts as an antioxidant, dries out the meat and inhibits the growth of bacteria.

The Phoenicians, Romans and Ancient Greeks used various naturally occurring nitrate salts to cure their meat going back 1000s of years.

However, like so many other things that people have done for millennia, curing meat was singled out as harmful in the last century when Big Business and Big Government started to meddle with what people since time immemorial knew to be true about nutrition and health. Studies seemed to show a correlation between meat consumption, especially processed meats, and various chronic diseases. It was postulated that the harm came from nitrosamines that were formed by the combination of nitrites/nitrates with amino acids when the cured meat was cooked.

However there are some inconvenient holes in this theory.

Thank you for reading Dr. Syed Haider. This post is public so feel free to share it.

First nitrites & nitrates are much more common in plants than in meat. And many plants also contain amino acids, the building blocks of proteins, so cooking them should also form the supposedly harmful nitrosamines. Yet plants aren’t demonized like meat is.

We also need nitrites/nitrates to form nitric oxide, which is an essential signaling molecule and very important for vascular health. In fact nitrates are the name of an entire class of medications with nitrate in them, that are used for heart disease to increase the bodies nitric oxide levels.

People think hot dogs are unhealthy, but they still can't resist them
But perhaps the biggest reason this theory of nitrites/nitrates in meat being harmful holds no water is that our own bodies make far more of the supposedly harmful nitrosamines than we can ever possibly eat.

So basically it was a bad psyop all along that collapses under the most cursory examination (and yet there are so many of these types of dysinformation psyops out there no one has time to examine them all and they mostly go unnoticed).

If there is no coherent theoretical mechanism for harm and many different people have done it forever it’s likely that any signal you find in a study is from systemic bias (Ioannidis, 2005).

"Why Most Published Research Findings are False" Part III
There is clear anti-meat bias in the scientific establishment because the government funds most science and the government needs science that helps it to cover up and minimize the inflation it causes by printing too many dollars.

As inflation causes the prices of healthy food to climb and normal people can no longer afford it, the government is incentivized to convince everyone that it’s not actually good for you anyway, which is why in 1966 then US president Lyndon Johnson called the Surgeon General and said he needed some “science” showing that eggs were bad for you.

Shortly thereafter the media spread the myth that cholesterol and therefore eggs high in it, were bad. Many generations of Americans were thoroughly convinced that not only were cholesterol and saturated animal fats bad, but that cheap grains, seed oils and sugar were good.

So now I have a useful rule of thumb: if government funded science (most science nowadays) says anything it’s almost always, if not always, agenda driven, statistically manipulated garbage that is very likely to be in gross error.

A few minutes on the search engine of your choice is usually long enough to discover the truth, unless its a topic that really scares the establishment like an unusually effective therapy that threatens Big Pharma profits (I’ll be writing about one of those for heart disease soon so stay tuned and subscribe if you haven’t don’t do so already).

While nitrites and nitrates appear to be benign (and perhaps even health promoting via nitric oxide), it’s important to acknowledge that not all processed and preserved meats are created equal.

Many processed meats are of low quality, and contain various chemicals, unnatural preservatives, colorings and flavorings that should be avoided. Some can hardly be recognized as meat during their excessive processing (highly processed foods are generally acknowledged by everyone to be less healthy than minimally, traditionally processed ones). For example there is a famous video of pink sludge making it’s way through a large factory before it ends up as sliced deli meat. I for one don’t think my final meat product should begin it’s life as a liquid pink sludge.

    Ham production screenshots from TikTok
So curing is fine, but what about the meat itself?

That was the broader psyop, of which the nitrite/nitrate controversy was but a side note.

The primary focus was on the saturated fat in meat and animal products like milk and butter.

But we now know for a fact that all the research was severely tainted. Early research by Alan Keys was clearly cherry picked to create a false narrative.

It’s since been pretty conclusively shown that saturated fat is healthy, dietary cholesterol does not usually influence blood cholesterol levels, and moreover blood cholesterol is not the cause of coronary artery disease. It’s actually the only solution some peoples bodies can find for their badly inflamed and damaged arteries, given the bad hand they’ve dealt themselves.

Thank you for reading Dr. Syed Haider. This post is public so feel free to share it.

People in “blue zones” who are purported to live longer than anyone else and were supposed to eat little meat, actually eat more meat than researchers let on. For example Okinawans eat more meat than their closest co-ethnic neighbors who live shorter lives. There’s evidence that groups like the 7th Day Adventists who say they don’t eat meat for religious reasons actually do. On Sardinia they don’t eat what the media portrays as a “Mediterranean Diet” - generally high in carbs and low in saturated fats. They actually eat more fish, meat, and full fat dairy products, while consuming relatively less grains than we’ve been led to believe.

But just because cured meat and meat in general isn’t inherently bad, doesn’t mean it’s necessarily good for a particular person either.

For example it may be better for many of the chronically ill to prioritize fatty fish over meat for their DHA content and other important nutrients. For someone who has overeaten Omega 6 rich seed oils for years they may not benefit from focusing on chicken or grain fed beef that is also rich in Omega 6 fats. For someone seriously depressed it’s usually best to avoid the meat of stressed out and depressed animals, because their psychological state also imbues their meat (stress hormones and water memory). For someone with cancer, its usually best to avoid anabolic foods like meat all together.

But in general, fresh or cured meat is an important part of a healthy, balanced diet and theres nothing wrong with enjoying it.

  • Why Sherpas & Billionaires Don't Get Jet Lag Can Fix Chronic Disease
Synchronizing biological clocks, GIGO vs QIQO, implications for modern environmental mismatches and healing chronic disease.

    Dr. Syed Haider

There is no sleep as delicious as jet-lagged sleep.

But it’s also inconvenient, especially if you need to get back to work, or make the most of precious vacation time.

Like many living in modern industrialized societies today I have a lot of experience with globe trotting jet lag. I always get constipated for a few days (not the first thing you think of with jet lag, but it happens), and of course suffer through the usual daytime fatigue lulling me to sleep in the afternoon only to wake up again at 2 - 4am.

Jet lag can also cause a lot of other symptoms in susceptible people:

Digestive upset including the aforementioned constipation, but also nausea, bloating, and changes in appetite

Headaches, trouble concentrating, impaired judgment and decision making, memory lapses.

    Irritability, apathy, anxiety, and depression.

Recovery times vary person to person, but can take as long as a day for each time zone crossed, especially if you don’t make much effort to resist the enticing daytime sleep.

The advice I’ve gotten over the years to minimize jet lag from hard charging, Type-A acquaintances who can’t suffer the downtime:

once travel begins, eat on the destination schedule (so decline all the weirdly timed airline food)

spend a couple hours in the noon-time sun for a couple days on arrival

    get grounded at the destination

    take melatonin

Thank you for reading Dr. Syed Haider. This post is public so feel free to share it.

    Share

Numbers 1 and 2 help to get your body on the correct circadian rhythm, though I’ve since learned early morning sun is even more important than afternoon sun for this purpose.

Grounding is a source of free electrons that are required to run your body's DC bio-electrical currents, and they also have powerful antioxidant effects. Free electrons can bypass inflammatory tissue barriers that can keep out chemical antioxidants.

Melatonin is thought of as the sleep hormone, though it has many other effects on our biology including immune regulation, direct and indirect antioxidant effects, hormonal regulation, blood pressure lowering, and anti-cancer properties. The melatonin released by the pineal gland at night puts us to sleep, but 95% of the melatonin in our bodies resides within our mitochondria which are the energy powerhouses within every cell.

Melatonin is only released by the pineal gland in response to darkness. It’s commonly used by shift workers, and globetrotters alike to re-set their circadian rhythms quickly. There are documented side effects of melatonin use including headaches, nausea, dizziness and agitation, which suggest that it may not be as benign as many people make it out to be.

Generally speaking it’s best not to try to hack biology by exogenous administration of endogenously created substances: if you make it, don’t take it, because there may be unpredictable butterfly effects that are impossible to trace back.

An apt metaphor for this kind of biohacking is attempting to code a computer in the base machine language of 1s and 0s which is basically impossible for humans to understand. Where the metaphor breaks down is that at least we know how to perfectly map human interpretable languages to machine language (using compilers), but we don’t know all the rules of our own biochemistry, there are missing pieces and the interrelationships in living systems are too unpredictable and complex to model in each patient. It is probable impossible to ever sort it out because humans are not simple automatons. Everything we think, feel and believe affects our biology and biochemistry. How can you model all of that without a direct interface into a person’s mind and heart?

Organization of Computer Systems: ISA, Machine Language, Number Systems
All of melatonin’s effects sound great in theory, but you can have too much of a good thing, especially when that thing is part of an intricate network of feedback loops, where exogenous administration artificially affects many other things that suddenly react to greater than expected melatonin levels at the “wrong” time according to the body’s own biological clocks.

Exogenous melatonin can lower cortisol (pro-inflammatory), suppress fertility, raise growth hormone, cause relative insulin resistance and relative hypothyroid effects. Melatonin is the body’s strongest antioxidant, but we know that antioxidants in excess can exhibit pro-oxidant effects. This might be helpful for cancer since that can kill cancer cells, but it might be harmful as well to regular cells and their mitochondria.

Excess melatonin will also disrupt serotonin metabolism because Serotonin is the precursor used to make melatonin. If the body gets melatonin from outside then there will be excess serotonin, which wasn’t needed to make melatonin. This is why melatonin is relatively contraindicated in those taking SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) which also increase serotonin levels. Elevated levels of serotonin can cause insomnia, anxiety, irritability and gut upset among other things, perhaps helping explain why chronic melatonin use so often doesn’t help patients with refractory insomnia (more on chronic effects of melatonin use towards the end).

Even short term some of these might help explain negative side effects experienced by some when taking melatonin, and there might be mid term effects that aren’t connected back to the melatonin administration - hypothetically speaking, if you come down with something 2 weeks after taking melatonin how likely are you to make the connection?

I acknowledge that many people will use melatonin anyway (I used it too in the past), it just goes against my c current understanding of the principles of health.

But no worries, theres much more interesting stuff below: what private jets can teach us about jet lag and how to prevent it!

    Not All Jets Lag

A little known and almost universally inaccessible approach to preventing jet lag is worth examining anyway because of what it might teach us about jet lag and what we can do about it (an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure).

I learned from a famous private jet salesman on Youtube (to be clear I wasn’t in the market for a private jet) that flying at lower altitudes with better cabin pressure prevents jet lag because oxygen tension remains higher throughout the flight - if this personal observation is true, it would explain why super-billionaires don’t all fly in Airbus size jumbo jets, but tend to prefer the Gulfstream, which has the highest cabin pressure of any private jet. The Gulfstream G600 can maintain an effective cabin “altitude” of 3,800 feet even at a cruising altitude of 45,000 feet.

Steve Varsano : The Jet Business - Ultimate Jet | The Voice of Business Aviation since 2008
Jet salesman Steve Varsano’s jet-interior-shaped office space
On the other hand commercial airlines usually maintain a cabin pressure equivalent to an altitude of 6,000 to 8,000 feet. So flying in a Gulfstream is easier than staying in Denver Colorado (elevation 5000 ft), while flying commercial is the equivalent of rapidly ascending a tall mountain within a matter of minutes, a feat that can lead to high altitude sickness (HAS) in 25% of those who sleep above 8000 feet, and can cause symptoms in more sensitive people at much lower elevations.

So maybe jet lag is a subset of mild high altitude sickness (i.e. oxygen/energy deprivation) that makes it harder to adjust to a new time zone.

That would suggest that treatments for high altitude sickness, or mimicking the physiological changes that occur when someone acclimates to higher altitudes over time might help with jet lag (and be much more accessible than flying private).

Acclimatization to high altitudes involves several physiological changes that help the body cope with lower oxygen levels. Key mechanisms include:

Increased Ventilation: Breathing rate and depth increase to intake more oxygen.

Red Blood Cell Production: The body produces more red blood cells to enhance oxygen transport.

Hemoglobin Affinity: Hemoglobin’s affinity for oxygen adjusts to release oxygen more efficiently to tissues.

Capillary Density: Capillaries may increase in number, improving oxygen delivery to tissues.

Mitochondrial Efficiency: Cellular adaptations enhance energy production efficiency under low oxygen conditions.

Thank you for reading Dr. Syed Haider. This post is public so feel free to share it.

    Share

The top of the list of treatments for high altitude sickness is obviously just to go back down to a lower altitude and/or get more oxygen (mimicking number 1 - 4 above). Equally obviously in an airplane you’re not going to be able to go back down for the duration, but you could super-oxygenate yourself using a portable oxygen concentrator (available via prescription. details on flying with one here). It’s not safe to use 100% oxygen for prolonged periods, but you could titrate the device to deliver just enough oxygen to counteract the effects of the lower oxygen tension on flights that cruise at effective altitudes of 6-8000 feet.

Traveling with a Portable Oxygen Concentrator (Tips) | 2024
Running the calculations on a typical flight with cabin pressure set to the equivalent of 6000 feet above sea level we find that you only need about half a liter per minute from the oxygen concentrator in the average person to raise inspired oxygen concentration enough to counteract the effects of altitude and give you the same amount of oxygen delivery you would expect at sea level.

A more convenient and cheaper alternative to lugging around a portable oxygen concentrator is prescription acetazolamide (diamox) carried by many hikers who’ve had experience with altitude sickness before. Acetazolamide works primarily by removing bicarbonate (baking soda is sodium bicarbonate) from your bloodstream into your urine and therefore causing metabolic acidosis in your body, which stimulates your brain to increase your breathing rate, which then increases your blood oxygen levels.

There is another little known possibility for the treatment and prevention of acute mountain sickness which is the simple, cheap and readily available chemical ammonium chloride. Its chemical decomposition in the bloodstream leads to the creation of hydrogen ions and CO2. Hydrogen ions bind and neutralize bicarb lower the pH by a different avenue than diamox, but having the same effect to stimulate respiration. Increased CO2 levels will also stimulate increased respiration. So both would tend to raise oxygen levels as a result.

Apparently useful for a number of indications including kidney stones, digestive trouble, preventing metabolic diseases and to give goats a beautiful sheen on their coat for shows.
There was one small study published in 1937 where a dozen volunteers took 5 grams of ammonium chloride three times a day with meals (much higher than normal dosing ranges for its one remaining medical indication, severe metabolic alkalosis) while ascending to altitude. Unfortunately the results were weirdly completely the opposite of what you might expect, which raises the possibility that pharmaceutical industry bias creot in as it usually does when any simple non-prescription therapy threatens the status quo. That paper also referenced a few other preliminary research findings that had seemed promising at 1/10th the dose. Given the mechanisms at play it would be interesting if someone revisited this research.

Traditional herbal remedies for high altitude sickness might be helpful as well, and I suspect gentler and safer than acetazolamide (though none that we know of work exactly the same way it does):

    Sea Buckthorn ("Shan-Ji" in TCM)

Mechanism: Sea buckthorn is rich in antioxidants, vitamins (especially vitamin C), and fatty acids, which can enhance oxygen utilization and reduce oxidative stress at high altitudes.

Studies: Research has shown that sea buckthorn can improve high-altitude polycythemia (an increase in red blood cells due to low oxygen levels), which helps in better oxygen transport and utilization in the body.

Rhodiola algida ("Hong Jing Tian" in TCM)

Mechanism: Rhodiola algida contains active compounds like salidroside and rosavin, which are known to enhance physical performance, reduce fatigue, and increase resistance to stress. These properties can be beneficial in preventing AMS by improving the body's ability to cope with hypoxia (low oxygen levels).

Studies: It is traditionally used by Tibetan people to prevent AMS. Experimental studies suggest that Rhodiola spp. can improve acclimatization and reduce symptoms of AMS by enhancing oxygen efficiency and reducing oxidative stress.

Zuo-Mu-A decoction (no English name found)

Mechanism: This traditional Tibetan medicine contains various herbs that are believed to work synergistically to enhance acclimatization to high altitudes. The exact mechanism is not fully understood, but it is thought to improve blood oxygenation and reduce oxidative stress.

Studies: Experimental studies in rats have demonstrated its efficacy in preventing high-altitude polycythemia, indicating a potential benefit in improving oxygen delivery and reducing AMS symptoms.

    Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba)

Mechanism: Ginkgo biloba is known for its vasodilatory properties, which can improve blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues. It also has strong antioxidant effects, which can protect cells from oxidative damage caused by hypoxia.

Studies: Clinical studies have shown that Ginkgo biloba can reduce symptoms of AMS, such as headache and dizziness, by improving microcirculation and reducing oxidative stress.

    Roseroot (Rhodiola rosea)

Rhodiola: Mental Health Benefits, Side Effects, and More
If there are no side effects it’s probably not medicinal
Mechanism: Similar to Rhodiola algida, Rhodiola rosea contains adaptogenic compounds like rosavin and salidroside, which help the body adapt to stress and improve physical performance. It also has antioxidant properties that protect against hypoxia-induced damage.

Studies: Studies have demonstrated that Rhodiola rosea can enhance endurance, reduce fatigue, and improve the body's resistance to hypoxia, making it effective in preventing and reducing symptoms of AMS.

    Coca (Erythroxylum coca)

Mechanism: Coca leaves contain alkaloids such as cocaine (so good luck sourcing these, only included here in the interests of being comprehensive, although millions in the Andes regular chew them without adverse effects), which can stimulate the central nervous system, increase oxygen intake, and improve overall physical performance. These effects can help counteract the symptoms of AMS.

Studies: Indigenous populations in the Andes have used coca leaves for centuries to prevent and treat AMS. Scientific studies support its effectiveness in reducing symptoms of AMS, such as headache, nausea, and fatigue, by enhancing oxygen utilization and reducing oxidative stress.

These herbs work through a combination of improving oxygen delivery, enhancing physical performance, reducing oxidative stress, and promoting acclimatization to high altitudes, thereby helping to prevent and mitigate the symptoms of acute mountain sickness.

Along the same lines methylene blue (may need to avoid with SSRIs, severe kidney disease, G6PD deficiency) may attenuate jet lag and is used by biohackers and Long COVID/Vax injury sufferers nowadays because it increases mitochondrial oxygen production (other of the natural acclimatizing adjustments the body eventually makes to prolonged stays at altitude) without the addition of more oxygen. Basically it improves your ability to create energy and that’s really what we need oxygen for in the first place.

Thank you for reading Dr. Syed Haider. This post is public so feel free to share it.

There are other ways to improve mitochondrial energy production, most importantly for this purpose via plenty of direct sunlight before the flight. One way this works is that the key to mitochondrial energy production is proton tunneling, which is required for functioning of the ATPase enzyme in the inner mitochondrial membrane that produces ATP, the chemical energy currency of cells. Proton tunneling is a quantum effect that depends on the existence of coherent quantum domains in water as well as 4th phase structured water.

Coherent domains are masses of water molecules vibrating at the same frequency, and structured water is a gel like water that forms next to liphophilic (water loving) surfaces in cells and leads to charge separation with one area of water having a negative charge next to the surface and another area having a positive charge. Both of these effects in water are increased by exposure to natural sunlight and the earth’s natural electromagnetic fields, e.g. the Schumann resonances - both of which are missing in flight.

So another cause of jet lag on the flight is likely missing sun and natural EMFs, while being exposed instead to blue spectrum light and non-native electromagnetic fields instead (as well as increased exposure to cosmic radiation?). It’s usually impossible to get into natural sunlight for the duration of your trip, unless you have longer layovers (sunlight that filters through clear window glass is deficient in balancing UV-A, UV-B and infrared wavelengths that help to counteract the stressful nature of visible blue light).

The best way to mitigate this may be to have a good tan (melanin in the skin can absorb any wavelength of radiation) and plenty of exposure to sun and natural outdoor electromagnetic fields in the days and weeks leading up to the flight, and after arrival, so as to have a strong reserve of coherent, structured biological water (some people also advocate structuring your drinking water by exposing it to light and spinning it in a vortex prior to consumption) and then replenish it after the flight.

There is also an herbal cream we’ve found to be helpful for mitigating the effects of EMF on children and others who are particularly sensitive to it that could be used in this situation.

    EMF Mitigating Cream:

    10 parts Castor oil

    6 parts Hemp seed oil

    1 part bee propolis

    1 part neem oil

    1 part rosemary extract

    1 part coriander extract

I was personally surprised to discover that there was data on EMF protective effects of Rosemary (eg here and here) and bee propolis (eg here). There are energetic reasons to include the other ingredients, but I’m not aware of studies having been done on them. If anyone has EMF sensitivity they should try this cream all over the body and report back any effects. It’s also important to note that many people with chronic diseaes (and jet lag) likely have EMF sensitivity they just aren’t aware of it. See Robert O Becker’s books and The Invisible Rainbow if you remain unconvinced of the thoroughly documented negative biological effects of most man-made non-ionizing radiation.

Finally dehydration (airplane air is very dry), alcohol, caffeine, stress and advanced age can all play a role in triggering and prolonging jet lag, though older age is probably mostly a marker for more time spent living sub-optimaly, destroying organ reserve and resilience (both of which can be reversed).

Usually when I take a long flight east my schedule will lag the final time zone I end up in by a few hours. So it’s not like my body thinks its all the way back home, it seems to think its a few time zones over. For example I’ll usually get tired in the afternoon say 3-4 pm and crash, and then wake up at 1-3 am unable to sleep any more. In terms of my origin time zone that translates to falling asleep at 8am and waking at 6pm (to be clear I don’t sleep all day at home, but have a normal schedule). So it would seem that my body thinks I’m a few time zones West of where I actually am.

On my last 9-time-zone trip halfway around the globe I lost a lot of sleep for a couple days during the flights since I find it hard to sleep sitting up, but had great success preventing significant jet lag on arrival with a few simple interventions.

I only ate during daytime wherever I was in my travels, and once I arrived I made sure to eat a good breakfast early every morning and didn’t consume anything at the destination after sunset - including food, information, light (i.e. no room lights or screens). I wore a pair of wraparound blue blocker sunglasses throughout the trip to block excess blue light (the darker the better, since light intensity is also important, especially at night). I made sure to get morning and afternoon sun both for 1-2 hours each at the destination.

I arrived at my destination at 2am and the first day got my morning sun and then fell asleep for a couple hours until the afternoon, then got some more sun, and then slept normally that night until the next morning, which was a first for me after such a long trip and really surprising. The next day I got morning sun, afternoon sun and then took a nap again for a couple hours in the afternoon and again slept normally through the night.

I was constipated on the flight, but it was less severe than usual, resolving within 24 hours once I landed.

So basically I had some sleep to catch up on since I slept very poorly on the planes and missed a lot of sleep during the prolonged travel (there were two long layovers), but other than that I had very minimal jet lag without nighttime insomnia or excessive daytime fatigue the first couple days.

After that I found that I could sleep longer in the afternoon if I let myself, but it wasn’t the usual overpowering, siren-song type of jet lag sleep I’m accustomed to. It was optional. Maybe next time I’ll try changing it up some more with some herbs and/or the EMF skin cream.

Recent research by Huang et al also confirms that the best cure for jet lag is a big breakfast in the early morning at the destination and plenty of morning sunlight. These two signals help to synchronize central and distal body clocks to the new time zone and eliminate jet lag fast.

They are also probably the two most important signals to help cure a normal case of insomnia.

By the way, many people who are trying to fix chronic illness nowadays will try intermittent fasting, and it’s easiest to implement that by skipping breakfast, but this is the worst way to do it because it sends your body the wrong signals.

LATELIFE MUSINGS...: EAT LIKE A KING
The old wisdom that taught us to breakfast breakfast like a King and dinner like a pauper is correct, but I would go further and say skip dinner (perhaps that’s what the saying actually means anyway). Most people throughout human history counted themselves lucky to eat twice a day, let alone thrice.

You often hear that breakfast was invented by cereal companies, but it was just coopted by them. A healthy breakfast for most people probably looks more like steak and eggs (and some healthy carbs) than an all-out refined sugar bomb and sets you up calorically and hormonally for an active day.

Steak and Eggs Skillet with Chimichurri and Sweet Potatoes
The Inputs Dictate the Output, i.e. Garbage In Garbage Out, illustrated via Light, Quantum Coherence, Structured Water, Cold, Seasonal Variations, Deuterium, etc

Garbage in garbage out refers to the computer science truism that poor quality input, for example when trying to model the likelihood of some outcome, will produce poor quality output, i.e. you’ll probably get the answer wrong.

The alternative is Quality in Quality Out or QIQO.

The same aphorism applies to jet lag. If you provide the right inputs at the right times you won’t have jet lag. Jet lag is really a function of decreased resilience due to suboptimal environmental inputs.

This is the essential truth about all chronic disease that we ignore to our own detriment because it’s easy to just go with the flow. Unfortunately that flow is like a riptide that will carry you out to sea and to your early demise unless you act fast and swim out of it, parallel to the shore. The good news is that once you make the effort and build new habits, they stick with you and it’s a lot easier to continue.

So the basic prevention and cure for jet lag and insomnia is the same basic prevention and cure for any chronic health dysfunction in the modern world, because our dysfunctions are fundamentally caused by living out of sync with our environments, both external and internal (e.g. physiologically harmful thoughts, beliefs, emotions).

Our external environments are tailor made for us, or we’re tailor made for them, depending on your perspective and Nature never makes mistakes, though we often misinterpret her perfection.

On the other hand you could take the lesson that supplemental oxygen cures jet lag and extend that to chronic disease. Supplemental oxygen may also help allay the symptoms of chronic diseases, and be even more effective when taken inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. Both in or out of the chamber it works the same way by increasing stem cell production.

But the easy way out will always come back to bite you in the end. There isn’t really an easy way. It’s an illusion. You can use various means to take the edge off, but ultimately you have to address root causes, because if you don’t the underlying problem will only worsen and eventually overcome the simple fix you found. The easy way is a temporary bandaid.

Whereas going down a mountain to an altitude you’re more accustomed to makes sense physiologically speaking, using a hyperbaric chamber is the equivalent of going underwater where the partial pressure of oxygen is much higher. Even if you plan to live in a submarine it’s certainly not a natural signal to give your body. We aren’t designed for such high pressures.

Health is a function of irreducibly complex inputs - i.e. you can’t mimic the sun by taking vitamin D, or even with a sunlamp. Understanding more about the ways this works for external inputs will help us respect Nature and submit to her dictates. In order to do that we’ll consider some fascinating, but little known facts about human biology and the central roles that light and water play in it.

We already discussed the effect of light on quantum coherence and structuring of water and how that improves the energy production of mitochondria.

EZ Water: The Fourth Phase Of Water (Part 3) - Live Vitae
Structured water due to it’s thicker gel like consistency excludes particulate matter and cells, thereby protecting the walls of the blood vessels from damage and inflammation.
The structuring of water is also the reason blood flows, and blood is what delivers oxygen and nutrients.

When you have a hydrophilic (water attracting, not repelling) tube, like an artery or vein and you place it in a bucket of water, the water structures itself by charge separating as described above and starts flowing through the tube spontaneously, and so does blood, which is primarily made up of water. Blood circulation in an embryo begins even before the heart forms and starts pumping, i.e. it is not the pumping that moves blood, rather the heart acts more like a conductor, synchronizing the organs of the body (more on this in an upcoming post on the heart).

Now, both quantum coherent domains and structured water form more easily in cold temperatures, which means you need less light energy to produce them. This means that near the equator where it’s warm all year round you need more light energy absorbed by your body water, and conveniently there is more light available during the year with 12 hour days throughout. Whereas up north you need less light in the winters when it is cold and the days are much shorter. In both of these situations our physiology if it is in sync with the natural environment will get just what it needs.

Seasonal variations in light also affect weight gain because when temperatures are warmer and days are longer and food is plentiful, the body gets the message that it’s time to store up fat for the coming winter (remember blue light triggers cortisol, appetite, hyperglycemia and elevated insulin). When winter comes the days are short and food is naturally scarcer, and in the cold our bodies are stimulated to produce more heat, and use stored energy to do so.

The Endless Summer (Remastered) - Official Trailer
If you want an endless summer, head south.
However nowadays winter never comes in industrialized societies, even up north, at least the signals that indicate it’s winter never arrive: we don’t change what we eat in the winter, because we don’t eat seasonally, and we don’t change our light environment either, because we spend all day and night indoors in temperature controlled environments with the lights on until all hours - our circadian biology gets the message that it’s always summer, the days are always long, the food always plentiful (you can eat more because you keep the lights on so long) and it’s never too cold.

Our mitochondria naturally deplete water of deuterium, which is a heavy isotope of hydrogen. Water in the south has higher deuterium content while water up north is already deuterium depleted so our mitochondria may work more efficiently when exposed to it, with less need of the red and NIR spectrums to help boost their functioning, if we are living within a natural environment and drinking the local water up north (while being exposed to the natural temperature variations and seasonal foodstuffs).

Not much is known about bioenergetics, since there is insufficient funding, but it has been shown that a weak DC electrical current flows in the Qi energy pathways mapped out by the Ancient Chinese 1000s of years ago (it was shown that grounding primarily enters free electrons into the meridians of the Spleen, Stomach, Liver, Gall Bladder, Kidneys, and Urinary Bladder). The energy flows because we are made up of biological semiconductors. Semiconductors hold electrons, and when they are excited by enough outside energy those electrons start to flow as electricity.

Our biological semiconductors like collagen need to be charged with electrons from food and grounding (more grounding means you need less food), and “turned on” by incident light energy from the sun. Just like mitochondria they work better in the cold, and so need less energy from sunlight in northern winters, when there is naturally less sun available.

    https://robertobecker.net/research/bone-bioelectricity/
The concentrated blue light we’re exposed to is meant to be stimulatory - it’s the component of natural sunlight that triggers wakefulness, and stimulates the sympathetic nervous system to release catecholamines like dopamine and norepinephrine, which raise alertness, focus, motivation, BP and HR (which is why blue light dominant computer and smartphone screens are addictive by their very nature, in addition to the addictive nature of much of the software - but even if you need to use the apps, at least you can turn your screens red like I do and you may notice less of a pull to overuse them, and anyway your eyes and brain will benefit from it).

Since blue light triggers dopamine, blue light dominant computer and smartphone screens are addictive by their very nature, in addition to the addictiveness programmed into the software - but even if you need to use the apps, at least you can turn your screens red like I do and you may notice less of a pull to overuse them, and either way your eyes and brain will benefit from it, since blue light without balancing infrared and UV-A kills retinal cells.
The other wavelengths of natural sunlight have a balancing effect physiologically: UV-A stimulates nitric oxide which helps relax us and elevate our mood by increasing the levels of beta endorphins, as well as lowering blood pressure. It also affects hormonal and neurotransmitter levels. Red and near infrared wavelengths have healing and anti-inflammatory effects commonly leveraged by photo-biomodulation devices. Blue light is known to be toxic to cells in the eye, but the UV-A, red and NIR wavelengths protect against that by stimulating nitric oxide production, increasing antioxidants, suppressing inflammation and increasing mitochondrial energy production and mitochondrial numbers.

Excess blue light, unmitigated by the other balancing wavelengths, raises cortisol levels, which lead to elevated blood sugar and insulin. When this becomes chronic it leads to decreased production of serotonin and melatonin, insulin resistance and leptin resistance (leptin is a natural appetite suppressant). The other wavelengths in light help to reduce stress, cortisol, blood sugar and insulin levels.

Full Spectrum Light Bulb | SAD Lamp for Depression | BlockBlueLight
However the answer is not to simply outfit all our homes with full spectrum bulbs, or even fancy red lights at night like they hang on the roads near certain beaches to prevent circadian disruption in spawning turtles. The photoperiod, i.e. the length of the day is also important (if you really can’t avoid night time lights then dim red bulbs are the least suppressive of melatonin production, try to keep the lux between 50-100 for the best effects). We need to balance light with dark every day and throughout the year depending on where we are on the earth.

The natural spectrum of sunlight changes throughout the day. UV-A, red and NIR are most prevalent in the early morning and late afternoon, while UV-B, which stimulates vitamin D production is most prevalent in midday.

comparing natural light and artificial light - Sunlight Inside
UV-B is important for stimulating vitamin D production which can increase insulin secretion, inhibit the renin-angiotensin system of the kidney to help lower blood pressure, influence the production of sex hormones estrogen and testosterone, modulate the immune system, and directly affects the expression of over 900 genes.

UV-B can damage skin, but the effect is mitigated by preconditioning your skin with the protective wavelengths in morning sunlight, and further decreased by getting healing late afternoon sun. These daily variations in light characteristics highlight the importance of getting regular sun exposure throughout the day, whether direct or indirect from reflected light even while in the shade outdoors.

    Knock-on Effects

Serotonin production is stimulated by UV-A light in the morning, and as mentioned above, it is the precursor to melatonin, production of which is stimulated by darkness. If we don’t get enough light we don’t make enough serotonin, which means we won’t make as much melatonin later on even if we don’t turn on the lights.

And simply taking melatonin on a chronic basis to fix the sleep problem will lead to other problems as mentioned briefly earlier, most obviously too much serotonin (also seen with SSRI use) since it’s no longer being converted to melatonin.

Acute symptoms of higher serotonin include restlessness, agitation, confusion, hallucinations, tachycardia and arrhythmias, high blood pressure. tremors, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Chronically elevated serotonin will lead to increased cortisol production, prolactin excess, and altered levels of thyroid hormone, growth hormone, sex hormones, oxytocin, and insulin.

Let’s trace out the further implications of just the first of those effects of higher serotonin: chronically elevated cortisol will lead to weight gain, insulin resistance, hypertension, heart disease, low immune function, muscle weakness, osteoporosis, mood disorders, cognitive impairment, reproductive hormone imbalances, skin and hair problems, and digestive upset. It does this by affecting the levels of insulin, thyroid hormones, sex hormones, growth hormone, prolactin, adrenaline, leptin and ghrelin.

And we could keep going down each of these pathways documenting how each disruption spreads outward in every widening concentric circles over time from any unnatural tweak that is made to our physiology.

This is why we can only effectively speak to our bodies using the natural signals they’ve been designed to understand.

Health is a function of an irreducibly complex system of environmental inputs. You can never put an irreducibly complex environment in a simple pill.

    Hormonal Rhythms

All our hormones are also on circadian rhythms.

So if you get too much light throughout the year (by turning the lights on at sunset) you’re going to burn out your thyroid, adrenals, ovaries/testes, and everything else that is stimulated by light. Just like overeating refined carbs may help precipitate pancreatic exhaustion and diabetes, consuming too much light and the wrong kind of light (especially blue without the rest) will necessarily lead to exhaustion of all the hormonal systems that help you function during the day light hours (and disrupt nighttime-peaking hormones like melatonin, growth hormone, prolactin, and leptin). This will lead to the typical diseases we see all the time in the modern world: insulin resistance and diabetes (via stress, cortisol and glucose), cancer (via the last), hypothyroidism, heart disease (via stress and sympathetic overactivity), “adrenal fatigue,” chronic fatigue syndrome, burnout, autoimmune diseases (disrupted POMC), hypertension, etc.

    Conclusion

So if you’re struggling with jet lag or insomnia, try eating early and getting your morning sun (and if its a bad case then consider some of the other things above) and let me know what happens.

And if you’re struggling with chronic disease, try aligning yourself with your natural environment in order to optimize your hormonal cycles and other bodily functions that are designed for the natural environment.

Finally to close the loop on the title re: Sherpas.

Why don’t they get jet lag?

Because they only fly up and down Mt Everest.

    Ha ha.

Seriously though, there is no research I could find on jet lag differentials by population or background, but it would make sense that if jet lag is in part due to a form of high altitude sickness and is more likely in those living out of sync with their natural environments, then a Sherpa would be less prone to it since they are acclimated to high altitudes and live in touch with their natural surroundings.

Let me know in the comments what you think!

    https://blog.mygotodoc.com/p/knowing-why-sherpas-and-billionaires
Why Sherpas & Billionaires Don't Get Jet Lag Can Fix Chronic Disease Synchronizing biological clocks, GIGO vs QIQO, implications for modern environmental mismatches and healing chronic disease. Dr. Syed Haider There is no sleep as delicious as jet-lagged sleep. Jet lag can also cause a lot of other symptoms in susceptible people: Digestive upset including the aforementioned constipation, but also nausea, bloating, and changes in appetite Headaches, trouble concentrating, impaired judgment and decision making, memory lapses. Irritability, apathy, anxiety, and depression. Recovery times vary person to person, but can take as long as a day for each time zone crossed, especially if you don’t make much effort to resist the enticing daytime sleep. The advice I’ve gotten over the years to minimize jet lag from hard charging, Type-A acquaintances who can’t suffer the downtime: once travel begins, eat on the destination schedule (so decline all the weirdly timed airline food) spend a couple hours in the noon-time sun for a couple days on arrival get grounded at the destination take melatonin Thank you for reading Dr. Syed Haider. This post is public so feel free to share it. Share Numbers 1 and 2 help to get your body on the correct circadian rhythm, though I’ve since learned early morning sun is even more important than afternoon sun for this purpose. Organization of Computer Systems: ISA, Machine Language, Number Systems All of melatonin’s effects sound great in theory, but you can have too much of a good thing, especially when that thing is part of an intricate network of feedback loops, where exogenous administration artificially affects many other things that suddenly react to greater than expected melatonin levels at the “wrong” time according to the body’s own biological clocks. Not All Jets Lag A little known and almost universally inaccessible approach to preventing jet lag is worth examining anyway because of what it might teach us about jet lag and what we can do about it (an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure). Steve Varsano : The Jet Business - Ultimate Jet | The Voice of Business Aviation since 2008 Jet salesman Steve Varsano’s jet-interior-shaped office space On the other hand commercial airlines usually maintain a cabin pressure equivalent to an altitude of 6,000 to 8,000 feet. Key mechanisms include: Increased Ventilation: Breathing rate and depth increase to intake more oxygen. Share The top of the list of treatments for high altitude sickness is obviously just to go back down to a lower altitude and/or get more oxygen (mimicking number 1 - 4 above). Traveling with a Portable Oxygen Concentrator (Tips) | 2024 Running the calculations on a typical flight with cabin pressure set to the equivalent of 6000 feet above sea level we find that you only need about half a liter per minute from the oxygen concentrator in the average person to raise inspired oxygen concentration enough to counteract the effects of altitude and give you the same amount of oxygen delivery you would expect at sea level. Traditional herbal remedies for high altitude sickness might be helpful as well, and I suspect gentler and safer than acetazolamide (though none that we know of work exactly the same way it does): Sea Buckthorn ("Shan-Ji" in TCM) Mechanism: Sea buckthorn is rich in antioxidants, vitamins (especially vitamin C), and fatty acids, which can enhance oxygen utilization and reduce oxidative stress at high altitudes. Studies: Research has shown that sea buckthorn can improve high-altitude polycythemia (an increase in red blood cells due to low oxygen levels), which helps in better oxygen transport and utilization in the body. Rhodiola algida ("Hong Jing Tian" in TCM) Mechanism: Rhodiola algida contains active compounds like salidroside and rosavin, which are known to enhance physical performance, reduce fatigue, and increase resistance to stress. Zuo-Mu-A decoction (no English name found) Mechanism: This traditional Tibetan medicine contains various herbs that are believed to work synergistically to enhance acclimatization to high altitudes. Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) Mechanism: Ginkgo biloba is known for its vasodilatory properties, which can improve blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues. Roseroot (Rhodiola rosea) Rhodiola: Mental Health Benefits, Side Effects, and More If there are no side effects it’s probably not medicinal Mechanism: Similar to Rhodiola algida, Rhodiola rosea contains adaptogenic compounds like rosavin and salidroside, which help the body adapt to stress and improve physical performance. Coca (Erythroxylum coca) Mechanism: Coca leaves contain alkaloids such as cocaine (so good luck sourcing these, only included here in the interests of being comprehensive, although millions in the Andes regular chew them without adverse effects), which can stimulate the central nervous system, increase oxygen intake, and improve overall physical performance. Share There are other ways to improve mitochondrial energy production, most importantly for this purpose via plenty of direct sunlight before the flight. EMF Mitigating Cream: 10 parts Castor oil 6 parts Hemp seed oil 1 part bee propolis 1 part neem oil 1 part rosemary extract 1 part coriander extract I was personally surprised to discover that there was data on EMF protective effects of Rosemary (eg here and here) and bee propolis (eg here). LATELIFE MUSINGS...: EAT LIKE A KING The old wisdom that taught us to breakfast breakfast like a King and dinner like a pauper is correct, but I would go further and say skip dinner (perhaps that’s what the saying actually means anyway). Steak and Eggs Skillet with Chimichurri and Sweet Potatoes The Inputs Dictate the Output, i.e. Garbage In Garbage Out, illustrated via Light, Quantum Coherence, Structured Water, Cold, Seasonal Variations, Deuterium, etc Garbage in garbage out refers to the computer science truism that poor quality input, for example when trying to model the likelihood of some outcome, will produce poor quality output, i.e. you’ll probably get the answer wrong. EZ Water: The Fourth Phase Of Water (Part 3) - Live Vitae Structured water due to it’s thicker gel like consistency excludes particulate matter and cells, thereby protecting the walls of the blood vessels from damage and inflammation. The Endless Summer (Remastered) - Official Trailer If you want an endless summer, head south. Just like mitochondria they work better in the cold, and so need less energy from sunlight in northern winters, when there is naturally less sun available. https://robertobecker.net/research/bone-bioelectricity/ The concentrated blue light we’re exposed to is meant to be stimulatory - it’s the component of natural sunlight that triggers wakefulness, and stimulates the sympathetic nervous system to release catecholamines like dopamine and norepinephrine, which raise alertness, focus, motivation, BP and HR (which is why blue light dominant computer and smartphone screens are addictive by their very nature, in addition to the addictive nature of much of the software - but even if you need to use the apps, at least you can turn your screens red like I do and you may notice less of a pull to overuse them, and anyway your eyes and brain will benefit from it). Full Spectrum Light Bulb | SAD Lamp for Depression | BlockBlueLight However the answer is not to simply outfit all our homes with full spectrum bulbs, or even fancy red lights at night like they hang on the roads near certain beaches to prevent circadian disruption in spawning turtles. UV-A, red and NIR are most prevalent in the early morning and late afternoon, while UV-B, which stimulates vitamin D production is most prevalent in midday. comparing natural light and artificial light - Sunlight Inside UV-B is important for stimulating vitamin D production which can increase insulin secretion, inhibit the renin-angiotensin system of the kidney to help lower blood pressure, influence the production of sex hormones estrogen and testosterone, modulate the immune system, and directly affects the expression of over 900 genes. Knock-on Effects Serotonin production is stimulated by UV-A light in the morning, and as mentioned above, it is the precursor to melatonin, production of which is stimulated by darkness. Hormonal Rhythms All our hormones are also on circadian rhythms. Thank you for reading Dr. Syed Haider. This post is public so feel free to share it. Share Conclusion So if you’re struggling with jet lag or insomnia, try eating early and getting your morning sun (and if its a bad case then consider some of the other things above) and let me know what happens. On June 27, they came back home to Gaza City, only to be ordered to evacuate once again. But the Bhars were tired of moving, so they stayed.

“We were under siege for seven days. The tanks and soldiers were all around the house… Muhammed was staying on his sofa…and he didn’t like sitting anywhere except for there,” says Nabila.

For Muhammed war meant loud, violent sounds, the air vibrating with the concussion from shells exploding nearby. None of this could be explained to him.

“He would panic and say, ‘I’m scared, scared’,” Nabila remembers.

On 3 July, according to the family, the IDF raided their home on Nazaz Street. Nabila says there were several dozen soldiers with a combat dog – animals used to find Hamas fighters, and check for booby traps and explosives.

At first she heard them “breaking in and smashing everything” before the soldiers and dog arrived in the room.

Referring to Muhammed, she says: “I told them, ‘He’s disabled, disabled. Have mercy on him, he’s disabled. Keep the dog away from him.’”

Nabila saw the animal attack Muhammed….

Israel’s restrictions on movement in Hebron hurdle to ‘essential services’: ICRC

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says the restrictions on movement imposed by Israel, specifically in the “H2” area in Hebron’s Old City, “make it difficult, and sometimes impossible, for Palestinians to access essential services”.

Israeli authorities have imposed these restrictions for more than 20 years, leaving an impact on “basic services many need daily to survive”, the ICRC said on X.

The H2 area of Hebron in the occupied West Bank is 20 percent of the Palestinian city, where about 700 Israelis live in illegal settlements and the Israeli military has full control.

H2’s Palestinian population is about 35,000.

Israel minister demands West Bank annexation if UN court rules against it

Al Jazeera reports: Hardline Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called on the prime minister to annex the occupied West Bank if the International Court of Justice (ICJ) rules Israeli settlements are illegal this week.

Smotrich reportedly told reporters this week, “no one will move the people of Israel from their land.”

The UN’s top court is expected to deliver a non-binding ruling on the legal ramifications of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories on Friday.

“I hereby call on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu – if the International Court of Justice in The Hague does decide that the settlement enterprise is illegal – respond to them with a historic decision of applying sovereignty to the territories of the homeland,” said Smotrich.

The far-right minister also promised to “thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state through massive construction, regulating settlements, building roads and other measures in the field” – all moves illegal under international law.

Fifty-two countries presented arguments at the ICJ, also known as the World Court, about the legal consequences of Israel’s actions in the occupied territories in February, after the UN General Assembly asked it in 2022 for an advisory opinion.

Smotrich himself lives in an illegal settlement.

Far-right groups that block aid to Gaza receive tax-deductible donations from US and Israel

Associated Press reports: Under American pressure, Israel has pledged to deliver large quantities of humanitarian aid into the war-ravaged Gaza Strip. But at the same time, the U.S. and Israel have allowed tax-deductible donations amounting to $200,000 to far-right groups that have blocked that aid from being delivered, The Associated Press and the Israeli investigative site Shomrim have found.

Incentivizing these donations by making them tax-deductible runs counter to America’s and Israel’s stated commitments to allow unlimited food, water and medicine into Gaza, say groups working to get more aid into the territory. Donations have continued even after the U.S. imposed sanctions against one of these groups.

“If you’re on the one hand saying you’re allowing aid in but then also facilitating the actions of groups that are blocking it, can you really say you’re facilitating aid?” said Tania Hary, executive director of Gisha, an Israeli nonprofit that has long called on Israel to improve conditions in the territory.

Israeli officials did not respond to requests for comment. The U.S. State Department said it is committed to ensuring the delivery of aid, but had no comment on the fundraising efforts by the far-right groups.

NOTE: Israel has illegally built around 280 settlements on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, which are home to more than 700,000 illegal settlers. Israeli settlements and settlers on Palestinian land are a violation of international law, and considered by many Palestinians to be the main barrier to any lasting peace agreement. Settlers, moreover, have a history of violence against Palestinians, often with the assistance of Israeli military forces.

Revealed: America’s secret special forces flights to Israel from UK base on Cyprus

Declassified UK reports: The US Air Force has been sending unmarked planes from Britain’s base on Cyprus to Israel since it began bombing Gaza, it can be revealed.

The planes are all C-295 and CN-235 aircraft, which are believed to be used by American special forces.

Declassified has found 18 of these aircraft which have gone from the sprawling British air base on Cyprus, RAF Akrotiri, to Israel’s coastal city Tel Aviv since October 7.

Akrotiri is the key node in the international effort to arm and provide logistical support for Israel’s assault on Gaza.

But the UK government has always refused to divulge any information about US activities at Akrotiri, which is known to include transporting weapons to Israel.

Asked in May how many US Air Force (USAF) flights had taken off from the base since October 7, defense minister Leo Docherty said: “The Ministry of Defense does not comment on the operations of our Allies.”

But Declassified discovered the unmarked planes that flew from Akrotiri to Israel from November to June have a serial number showing they are operated by the USAF. Most of these journeys had the flight number GONZO62.

The new information could further implicate British ministers in war crimes in Gaza. In November 2023, a US military official revealed that American special forces were stationed in Israel and “actively helping the Israelis”.

A spokesperson for the UK Ministry of Defense would only tell Declassified: “In response to the situation in Israel and Gaza, we are working with international partners to de-escalate the conflict, reinforce stability and support humanitarian efforts in the region. Any use of UK bases will be in line with these objectives.”

‘Stunning Abdication’: Appeals Court Dismisses Biden Genocide Complicity Case

Common Dreams reports: Palestine defenders on Tuesday decried a U.S. federal appellate panel’s dismissal of a case brought by Palestinians accusing senior Biden administration officials of failing to prevent and complicity in Israeli genocide in Gaza.

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco affirmed a lower court’s dismissal of the lawsuit against President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, which was led by the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) on behalf of several Palestinian groups and individuals.

During a Tuesday interview on Democracy Now!, CCR attorney Katherine Gallagher—who represented plaintiffs in the case—said its dismissal “essentially gives the blank check to carry out any kind of conduct that the executive wants in times of genocide, in times of war.”

“We turned to the law to help stop the horror, and the court chose to do nothing,” said one plaintiff in the case. “We are beyond disappointed.”

  • Netanyahu says Iran has been planning multi-front ground invasion to destroy Israel; ‘Sinwar simply opened fire too early’

At a meeting earlier today with the parents of observation soldiers murdered by Hamas terrorists at the IDF’s Nahal Oz base on October 7, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Hamas invasion was intended to be just one part of a concrete Iranian plan for a multi-front ground invasion aimed at totally destroying Israel.

Hamas’s Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar, said Netanyahu, simply began that effort earlier than Iran wanted. But the Iranian plan, he indicated, is still in place.

In a leaked recording of the meeting broadcast by Channel 12 news, Netanyahu is heard telling the bereaved parents:

“We discovered in the course of the [IDF] operation in Gaza that Sinwar simply opened fire too early — that Iran is planning to put us in a stranglehold of its proxies, to invade us, from Gaza, Lebanon, Judea and Samaria, Jordan.

“Simultaneous ground invasions and massive missile fire. Hundreds of thousands of missiles rockets, drones,” he elaborates.

“And [attacks] from Iran itself, which it already fired,” he adds, a presumed reference to Iran’s direct attack on Israel with hundreds of missiles and drones in April.

“The plan is not to wipe out Israel as an idea — [but] to destroy the State of Israel, to conquer the State of Israel,” Netanyahu says.
