Good friend of mine returned from living in Ecuador last week and gave me this mask as a gift. One side represents light and the other side represents darkness. The tassels on the top represents the 12 months of the year. It is Inca influenced, and is used to celebrate the changes of the seasons throughout the West Coast of South America. The Inca had a large Empire that influenced Ecuador, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.
