If you don't know what's going on here I can tell you: a #catholic priest is hearing this girl's confession. At outside events there obviously is not a confessional available for both to sit in, that's why this arrangement was invented. They don't see each other's face. Why not? Because the girl is not confessing to the priest, but to God. The priest is acting "in persona Christi".
