Get your shopping list ready because black Friday is on its way! But why is it called black Friday?

The term "Black Friday" was first coined during 1869 when two investors caused a market crash but it wasn't until late 1950s to early 1960s when it was associated to a Friday between Thanksgiving and the Army-Navy game.

The day required extra hours from law enforcement to handle the large crowds of tourists and shoppers.

The name was then started to be used by retailers in around late 1980s. Why? Because the accountants use red ink to mark negative earnings (being in the red) and black ink to mark positive earnings (being in the black).

The day is an extra good day for the stores and by "being in the black", Black Friday was born.
