WHERE ARE THE TALENTS? (MATT. 25:14-30).
I have tried all I can in my human capacity and capability (which always fails us) to stop living in self pity. But the task becomes ever more difficult under my prevailing conditions (very challenging health and harsh economic situation).
HOWEVER, THERE'S ONE THING I'M NOT GOING TO ALLOW YOU TO MISJUDGE OUR GREAT AND MERCIFUL GOD FOR, AND THAT'S GOD PACKAGED EACH AND EVERYONE OF US TO SUCCEED. AND SO,IF WE DON'T, IT'S US, AND NOT HIM. SO,DISABUSE YOUR MIND OF THAT NOTION.
LISTEN TO ME, PLEASE IF YOU WILL OR WANT TO;
When we were created by God,HE deposited in each one of us, potentials that have to be discovered and developed to enable us fit into HIS purpose for us(Jer.29:11).
While a great percentage of us have little or no knowledge of what we carry,and thus,we are envying and pursuing others' gifts,yet an even greater percentage of us have discovered our potentials,but diverted them to glorify the flesh,instead of the GIVER OF THE GIFTS, suppressing and oppressing God's Word and Work knowingly or unknowingly in the process.
SOME THINGS WE SHOULD REALIZE ABOUT OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AND OUR TALENTS.
(A)As believers, God has bought us out of a life of sin. We belong to HIM.
18. Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19. But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: (1Pe 1: 18-19)
In 1Cor.6:19-20,we are told our body is God's Temple.
(B)Thus,we are God's bond servants.
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? (Rom 6: 16)
Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. (Rom 6: 18)
(C) God has entrusted us with various gifts, which we are expected to use to the Glory of His Name. But we allow the default nature of sin to come us between us and our CREATOR'S WILL for us(Jer.29:11)
4. Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. (1Co 12: 4-7)
11. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12. For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13. Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (Eph 4: 11-13)
(D) We are God's stewards,given the responsibility to wisely use God's wealth in our care.
42. And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? 43. Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. (Luk 12: 42-43)
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1Pe 4: 10)
From the verses above, God's expectations from us as regards the gifts HE entrusted to us isn't in doubt. But,are we meeting up with HIS expectations for us ? The answer is obviously no,at least, for majority of us. Instead,the gifts have become a source of concern to HIM,as we daily divert them to glorify or worship Satan,though mostly in ignorance,for quite a number of us don't even know what we're doing.
MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON ME IF THE TEARS FALLING FROM MY EYES NOW ARE OUT OF HYPOCRISY AND NOT GENUINE ! I am very emotional to a fault
AN OVERVIEW OF THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS.
(A) Christ Jesus has just finished HIS discourse on Mt.Olive,which was essentially on Jerusalem's destruction.
(B) HE followed up with the ten virgins..which deals with our level of preparedness for His(Christ Jesus') return.Matt.25.1-13.
(C) Rounding up with the talents parable,(Mt 25:14-30),HE brought chapter 24 and 25 to a fitting conclusion in preparation for the Final Judgement in 25:31-46! We are warned of trivializing weighty matters,that many will be lost, who even preached salvation, because of carelessness.
THE PARABLE
(A) The participants.
The man going on the long journey.. Christ Jesus, going to prepare a place for faithfuls-Jn.14:1-4.
The servants ..you and I,left behind to continue the work until His return.
(B) The Trust given.
Each servant was entrusted with a considerable amount of wealth.
It was given according to individual ability..not favouritism.
(C) The Master's Journey.
He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) (Eph 4: 10)
The Master left them to continue the work.
Two of the servants laboured and brought increase,while one was fearful and hid his talent.
(I HOPE YOU ARE NOT IN THIS CATEGORY WITH ME)
(D) The Reckoning.
The Master returns and demands accounts.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. (2Co 5: 10)
HE blesses the two servants for being faithful over a few things(EPH.2:7-9).
HE deals harshly with the last one,calling his excuses as lazy and wicked and was cast into outer darkness (Mt.25:46).
THE LESSON
We have no excuse for failure, for whatever we need to succeed in our mandate has been provided.
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. (Rom 2: 1)
We are going be judged by our own gifts,not others
Many have abandoned their callings and are chasing others.
Today, everyone wants to be a prophet,a deliverance minister, motivational preachers,etc!
No one wants to be a teacher of the Word or a simple pastor.We are more concerned about titles than the WORK,we want to be apostles,Dr and archbishops,etc, even without understanding their functions.
When the impatient genuine pastors see what either genuine deliverance ministers or false prophets are doing,they lose sight of their God given abilities and miss it at the end.
It isn't limited to the Christendom alone. The secular world is in turmoil today because of coveting what was NEVER meant for us.
That you used your frying of beancakes(akara) to build a mansion, doesn't mean, I can buy a pair of slippers with it.
Ungifted leaders are on seat,while the naturally talented leaders have no one to lead. Until,we have the consciousness that not all are engineers or tailors, confusion will continue to reign supreme in Man's affairs.
It isn't too late, let's discover our talents, develop them, AND THEY WILL MAKE A WAY FOR US,AMEN
My tears yet roll than my face even as I conclude, but it will still remain hypocrisy, if I don't allow Him to do that which only He can do in my life (by not holding behind a part of faith, but yield fully into His Ever Loving and Waiting Arms) So are you!
