THAT I MAY KNOW HIM (Phil.3:10)!

Theme: The Call To Righteousness (1Cor.15:34)!

Today again, by His wonderful grace and mercy, I am once more beaming the searchlight on my constituency"The Church of God!"
And this time, I intend to compare the church at"Shiloh" with our church of today! I do sincerely hope we will be more prepared by the lessons contain therein.

ELI AND HIS SONS;AS AN ASSEMBLAGE TODAY'S CHURCH! (1Sam.2:12-17,22-25).

Anointing is a very important component of the Christian Faith.Indeed, it's what makes the difference between a God called pastor and a self called pastor.Either way,a great responsibility is attached to it.

This is what Eli and his sons never realized, and in the process, not only did they destroyed themselves, but also effectively put and end to any hope of their lineage ever serving in the Temple again!

Hophni and Phinehas(Eli's sons) were ordained pastors, but took the anointing for granted and misused it.And it's the same with what is obtained in the church today! In a greater percentage of our churches,if not all, anointing has become a commodity to be traded with.

The Scriptures called the sons of Eli *Sons of Belial* (1Sam.2:12,Lk.16:13.)54 d Now,Belial is the name of a demon.
One may wonder why a pastor should be called the son of a demon. There is abundant proof that they attempted to serve two masters. You can't serve God and serve a demon simultaneously.

Unfortunately, this is the position of the church today. When we say"demon",it mayn't be the actual demon per se, but it's symbolic here. Truly, many of us believers are unconsciously engaged in demon and mammon worship. For instance, many of us serve other gods like self, money, pleasure, ego, property(eg,car and buildings)and persons ,etc.

Remember this, whoever we yield to is our master, i.e, anything that takes the place of God in our life,is our idol.We all have idols in different forms in our lives. For a majority of us, UNCONSCIOUSLY until someone who truly loves us, and at the cost of a shared relationship points them out to us. An example of this is PRIDE. Many of us may be highly disciplined, but UNCONSCIOUSLY, pride becomes an unseen partner leading to SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS. You don't have to agree.

Don't forget I said, we all have our idols, perhaps we feel better calling them out weaknesses, idols are what really they are since they can take God's Place in our lives. The other day, when I spoke about some Fathers of the Reformation being UNSEEN IDOLS in the lives of some of us, only God knows what family members where thinking of me... Like, where did this guy got lost from. BUT THE TRUTH REMAINS THAT GOD CALLED HIS OWN ANOINTED PASTORS *SONS OF A DEMON* WHY? BECAUSE OF WHAT THEY DID... DISLOYALTY TO GOD.
Truly,we all have our own idols in our hearts, either publicly or privately. We frankly need to seek assistance from God in order to come out clean from every pollution and adulteration!

They knew not the Lord;1Sam.2:12,Rom.1:28-32)
Can it be said truly that Hophni and Phinehas didn't really know there's God? They certainly did,but chose LUST ABOVE GOD. We don't know God,if we don't obey Him.

Their dad, *ELI* was the *G.O.* Yet, being pastors, they knew not the Lord.Bearing the title"Pastor", isn't what makes you one,but your intimacy with God.

You know, it's possible to do God's Work, preach the gospel fantastically, and even work wonders without knowing HIM at all.In today's world, there's a mad rush for miracles, without caring how they come. And the devil has taken advantage of the situation. Thus pastors are trying to outshine themselves,in their lifestyles, without batting eyelids.

Their interest isn't to please the Lord,no... not at all. They don't know HIM, not to talk of having a relationship with HIM.So you see, working of miracles (magic), doesn't prove one's intimacy with God.Nor does acrobatic displays on the pulpit turned podiums, or a good command of the English Language makes you a friend of Christ Jesus.

Infact,HIS inner cabinet members were unlearned fishermen! Of course we know them. These unlearned fishermen recognized His Deity and their duties to Worship Him... These ones knew Christ Jesus.
As God's emissary, and purposedly misrepresenting God to HIS children because of "SELF", you are surely in for a "real good time", with HIM.It may not be immediately, but it's certain.

They took God's people for granted-1Sam.2:13-16.
The unconventional, nay, shameful actions of Eli's sons did hurt God's people consistently, and in the process, brought separation between God and HIS children.

Today, aren't people discouraged with the consistent unsavory reports emanating from the church daily?

The truth even though bitter, remains that; just like Eli's sons, ministers who should know better, are leading God's people into sin, condoning evils,as long as there is a fat envelope, living reckless lives, sleeping with women in the church, and in some cases, even boasting with it.

Do we know at all, that it's customary for a lot of people to pattern their life after the example of a "Man of God"? Now, just imagine how many souls have lost favor with their God,all because of bad leadership from one whom they trusted so much, one whom they believe must always be right!

Conclusively, the most painful angle to this tragedy, was that,Eli and sons were not ready to repent (1Sam.2:25,1Jn.1:8-9)! The seed has developed a tap root, to uproot was a problem. They were already used to having their way!
AND THEY(G.O.AND HIS TWO SONS) DIED ON THE SAME DAY.

Indeed, Phinehas pregnant wife on hearing the news, went into forced labour and named the child*ICHABOD* meaning, the GLORY OF GOD HAS DEPARTED(1 SAM 4:21)

If a man sins against a man, God will mediate for him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who can intercede for him?" But they would not listen to the voice of their father; for it was the will of the LORD to slay them. (1Sa 2: 25)

God couldn't condone their excuses anymore. Instead of Eli repenting,he daered God;
So Samuel told him (ELI) everything and hid nothing from him. And he (ELI) said, "It is the LORD; let him do what seems good to him." (1Sa 3: 18

HAS THE GLORY OF GOD NOT DEPARTED FROM MANY OF OUR CHURCHES TODAY?

Please, you and I, listening or reading this,"Do not react against the Word of God; but rather respond to it",that it may be well with us in Christ Jesus'Name,Amen.(Prov.28:13)!
