Push Notifications Update 3/19/2023

Push Notifications are now live for Mobile Users ;)

For Android/IOS, push notifications should be working correctly - I have tested on several devices and it's pretty clean :)

New Notification

When a new notification comes in, it will alert you as normal, set the badge on your icon, and if you click on it, it should open the main app. 

Once you click on the Notifications bell inside of the application, it will UPDATE the badge counter on your app for you. 

NOTE: This only affects NOTIFICATIONS, it does NOT count for other types of notifications (like messages or friend requests that don't send regular notifications).  

NOTE2: Some chat messages and friend notification requests DO trigger regular notifications, and if they do, they will increase/update the badge counter for you :)

 

TROUBLESHOOTING: 

Number Stuck:
Sometimes, your badge could be stuck with a number, even when the bell icon doesn't have a number. To fix that, just click the bell icon again. That should send the updated count to your app from our server. 

Invalid Token:

Your Mobile token (which identifies the device (note only the device not who you are or any personal info)) may expire, or no longer be valid for many reasons (Google, Apple, etc often can change these policies). However, to update that, just log out of your app, close the app, and re-open it. Once you do that, the app will re-register it's ID, and your token will be updated in our system. 

Then, you can just click the Notification bell, and it will send the updated count to your app.
