This is our #freecampsite where I decided to get a #pontoonboat. The area is called #BoggyPointCove and is in North Central #Arkansas on a body of water called #NorforkLake. We've since returned and met quite a few cool people from the area.

Who can beat a lake view campsite for free with a boat launch right there.

If you don't recognize this #flower, I'm sure you've heard of it. The #PurpleConeflower or #EchinaceaPurpureaMoench is a popular plant for its immune boosting, anti-inflammatory and wound healing properties. All parts of this plants are edible, but only the flower petals are palatable though, a bit bitter. It's also loaded with antioxidants and although it's been used since the dawn of time to treat many common ailments, there's very little scientific literature to back it up.

It's definitely one plant you'll want to add to your memory banks, because it treats very common injuries and infections we all get. This includes everything from minor cuts to bug bites, to urinary tract infections to the common cold. On top of that some believe it also has a calming effect, which helps with depression.

Well, my car broke down last week and it isn't worth fixing. It was high time for a new one anyway and AlphaHippie did a great job finding me a new one. This was the reason for the road trip he's been posting about. We wanted to take it out for a long drive to make sure the previous owner didn't throw some band-aids over big fixes to sell it.

#Alfalfa is mostly known as feed for livestock, which is why I wasn't surprised to find it growing wild at #WarsingDam in #NorthDakota. It's also super nutritious for us as well and is considered a #SuperFood, because of the high levels of essential nutrients and fiber it provides and it's loaded with powerful #antioxidants.

Because it's so popular as cow or horse feed, many would never guess it blesses us with these beautiful blooms. Every part of the plant above the ground can be eaten or steeped into a tea and the seeds can be ground and mixed in with flour to heighten the nutritional profile.

Here's another shot from #ChimneyRock to give you a bit more of the #history here. Like I mentioned in a previous post, this was a main #landmark used to help guide the #pioneers back in the early days of the U.S.

This is a huge piece of the history from before and after expanding our claims to the far West. The pioneers went through hardships we can only imagine. I really wish we worked with the #NativeAmerican, rather than exploiting them.

This was a nice secluded free camping spot at one of the #PierMarquetteRiver public accesses in #Michigan. If you're an avid car or RV camper, I strongly suggest you get a tripod to cook with and always use a grill mat. The tripod allows you to cook wherever there's a fire and gives you the ability to change the height of the food to control the cooking temperature.

The #grillmats keep your food from burning, falling through the grate and allows the juices to collect, which keeps your meat nice and juicy. Plus you have a ready made gravy or a topping for the dogs food. We don't cook without one these days.

I've still got road trippin and boating on my mind. We are cruising #MerrittReservoir here in the middle of the #NebraskaSandhills. You are able to tickle your fancy with any #watersport you'd like and even get a good hike, camp or four wheelin in here.

Last year when we went on a multi-state Morrel hunt, we happened upon this free campsite called #BoggyCove on #NorforkLake in #Arkansas. The campsites were right at the lake with a boat launch. It was here that I mentioned wanting a #pontoon boat, because I need the stability these days. Later on that summer AlphaHippie hit the web and found a great deal.

We bought the boat and the first place we launched it was where the idea was born. Norfork Lake is a dammed river that creates a #reservoir. It's 60 some miles long and a great place to get away for a few days. I'm starting to get cabin feaver and can't wait to get back out on the road and water.
